Lyrics:
He ain't a crook son (son)
He just a shook one (shook one)
We live the life that of diamonds and guns
And numerous ways that we choose to earn funds
Some niggas get shot, locked down and turn nuns
Cowardly hearts and straight up shook ones (shook ones)
He ain't a crook son
He just a shook one (shook one)

After hearing Part 2 countless times...I think part 1 is also a masterpiece...
Yeah I agree , the beat is so dark and grimey..
It's better If u ask me #ShookOnes
Both masterpieces but would say part 1 is way better part 2 overplayed now for me tbh
@@Quandingle03 totally agree
Part 2 hit different. There’s a reason why em put part 2 in 8 mile and not 1 just sayin
When your rap song is so good that you need to divide it into two parts.
yeaaah
Cranges?
@@coco37s Cranjis McBasketball?
Very well said!
That is fizzactual facts
This beat is colder than a New York winter.
cradle to the grave too
Colder than an Edmonton winter homie
@@VanquishV700 even colder than winnipeg's winters
Hits harder than my dads belt
@@tysonfriesen4336 even colder then a new brunswick winter🇨🇦
"...my first priority's to reach 21 breathing..." Prodigy, you made it twice as far, having lived until age 42. RIP...
I miss that guy
So many of my favorites gone too early. Biggie, Sean Price, DOOM, J Dilla and of course Prodigy…amongst others.
the prequel we all forgot
how is it even possible? in my opinion its way batter than the sequel
znaszlisiora? Nah even mobb deep used to confirm the sequel is better
The S2ad You smoking something if you think the sequel sounds better. This is what shook ones is suppose to sound like
I guess they went back to the lab on this one, and said we can make this harder. And boy did they ever on Part 2.
Yeah, cuz the sequel exploded
Havoc is a genius. Very underrated, if rated at all. He produced all of his own songs, all of mobb deep songs, the majority of prodigies songs. He never skipped a beat! You just can't find any unpleasant beats that he's created. To top it off, he's underrated as an M.C. in my opinion as well.
Mobb Deep and Wu-Tang
forever.
I cant argue...but Biggie is a favorite for me too.
Word
clan in the front
Where is Cypress Hill? :(
Nas?
This was Gotham City New York! Early 90s 🗽🗽🗽
Shook Ones Pt I sounds like the impending apocalypse, where the demons descend from above and the sky starts turning red. Shook Ones Pt II feels like the world post apocalypse where most of humanity has been eradicated. Both equalling haunting and visceral. Havoc was undeniable in terms of creating the darkest atmosphere in his production
Havoc is one of the greats when it comes to beat composure....another of my favorite is bad meets evil-welcome 2 hell.sick beat
I'm telling you
@@Thatpart023 I didn't even know Havoc produced Welcome 2 Hell, wtf.
Had Jay Dilla ever colaborated with the Mobb? He would knew how to get the best out of these cats!
why would demons ever descend from the sky? If its the apocalypse demons will be slayed by Angels. Just saying. 🤷🏽♂️
The underappreciated prequel...
Such an underrated track.
Beats as good as part II, I don’t know if it’s just me but at the bit when he says “numerous ways that we choose to earn funds” and there’s a little “ooooohhhhh” before the beat drops again. Love it
Guess you are young this has never been underrated...
@@lizwimchunu7234 dunno. I'm 31 and this feels like a hidden gem to me.
@@lizwimchunu7234 compared to part 2 this is underrated

Happy 25th Anniversary, Havoc. Rest In Paradise, P!
I got not medically to fraid
Havoc is still alive lol
@@FinyApple he is??I thought he passed before prodigy
@@FinyApple no one said anything about Havoc being dead...
Havoc is alive but prodigy is ☠️
Shook Ones Part One should be regarded as one of the top song ever made. Especially since it was made at 19 years old! That’s some Smithsonian level sh*t!
Smithsonian level shit for sure.
Big pun would’ve been nice to hear on this beat
17
IM ONLY 19 BUT MY MIND IS OLDA
Nerd lol
he ain’t a crook son he just a shook ☝️
“I gave you fair warning, beware.” Pun sampled that on Capital Punishment. This is cold man.
Capital Punishment is produced by Havoc too
That's how I found this cold ass shit
Pun was amazing..wish he had been with us longer
Part 1 is so powerful.
One of the coldest beats/songs I've ever heard.
Real sound of new York
…Pre 9/11 he means.
This is the NY sound to the core...rip Prodigy & rip Twin Scarface
N.Y STATE OF MIND
Prodigy was not saved.
@@Mark-fr5of man of God. Underrated comment
predigy died? 😱
@@wilsons3597 sickle cell
Anyone rate this more than part 2?
Part II is on another level as a track but Part I is so underrated its ridiculous.
I agree
Part 1 is what solidified them as the Infamous because they got dropped from the first label. They had to go back to Queens & rebuild.
part 1 is better
as much as I love this track, once you listen to part 2, that track is so catchy
music straight from hell, havoc is a real master
beat so dark satan had to switch camps
Not funny man.The songs is nice but don't bring up satan pls.
@@QankoIvanov how are you gonna be sensitive in the comments of this song of all songs? he even talks about going to hell in the song lol
@@QankoIvanov it's 2020, you still believe in superstitious man-made up shit like gods mate? jesus christ
@@Patch3dd esotericism itself is mystic and universal knowledge, an energy in the universe thats closer to science than we think. So gods and stuff doesn't speak for everyone
What?
While everyone was rocking to part 2 I could not stop listening to this one. This is the best one
This beat sounds like it was made in the dephts of hell , cold and dark as fuck !
I fucking miss the 90's!!!
What a beat man is fire rip prodigy❤
Holy shit i swear pt.1 and pt.2 are like fucking yin and yang.
I always liked the East coast type beats R.I.P prodigy
Always preferred this version just something 90’s sinister bout it.👊🏾❤️
90s Hip Hop can’t be matched
absolutely not, 🙌🏾
Nope.
FACTS...i'm stuck in a time warp when it comes to my HIP HOP!
Out of all the years I grew up on yalls music, how have I not heard part1!?!??
I've probably played part 2 like a million times over the years... got turned on to mobb deep at 16 years old.. in a way yall helped raise me... kno what I'm saying... God bless!!! R.i.p. Prodigy in Jesus Name
I don't know if it's just me but this one is criminally underrated. Elite production w/ lyricism
The most violent of the violence of crimes we give life to if these queen bridge kids don’t like you we bring drama to your worst kind of enemies your first time we’ll be your last earth memories!!! . 🔥 🔥
The Meanest Beat in Hip Hop History. It leaves all other beats Shook.
I won't let go of this period in rap...

Me neither 💯
And you shouldn't! This shit was 🔥. Rap nowadays is trash and will never hold a candle to 90s/early 2000s era
Same. 90s hip-hop forever
@@medaanhil4133 just been listening to 90s rap for about a month now. Forever wishing I was a teen in those days lol
The best mcs of new york!!!!🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🌉🌉🌉🌉🌉🚖🚖🚖🚖🚖🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the few rap songs that when I hear it, the hair on the back of my neck stands up...I literally get tears in my eyes...when I hear this and Part II, I think about where I was in my life, what I was doing...this shit was helping me get my head straight. Pure hip hop gold. Everlasting glory! 👏🏿💪🏿
When did you first hear this ? Back in 94? Or 96 ( when the released it on the HOE album)
Grimiest beat ever
The beat in Part 2 may be the greatest beat ever, but the beat on this song is so hypnotizing. I love it
Beat's darker than my future
I just discovered this, this is like the sickest beat ever
Facts
Check the Q Tip Queens freestyle over the beat also
Bossest rhymes ever. I remember buying this new on cassette being so impressed by their love of Guess and Structure which I already had plenty of lol
Your a lucky man. If you just found Mobb Deep you have a solid 3-4 Albums to go listen to!!!
SCORPIONs top 5 all time
“God made dirt so this dirt won’t hurt.”
First time, I'm hearing this version. It actually isn't bad. Feels much more darker and somewhat, scarier than Part 2. I thinker it's harder and more raw as well. Part 2 has a catchy beat, that appealed to everyone,
Damnnn this beat is absolutely insane 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Goddamn, this actually got me goosebumps.
Ive never heard this 🔥 🔥 R.I.P. PRODIGY
Thanks Em for this discovery
I’m only 24 turning 25 this summer & I love old hip hop/ rap. I wish I could find friends that love old stuff like this but everyone just listens to that new bs 😒
Imagine THIS shook ones blew up in 1994 as the “Most evil beat in hip hop history”
Nah Natural Born killaz
shabazz the disciple - death be the penalty is the most evil IMO
Apostle’s Warning is grim too.
Most evil beat in Hip Hop
RIP prodigy. This brother did so much for me as a teen growing up in the 90’s in Durty Jersey.
if hell would have an elevator, this must be the soundtrack in it
Nice stolen comment
@@wrathofthewitchqueen thank you
Biting comments now are we?
Stolen
I think the original was "This is the music you hear in the elevator when you're going down to hell"
These new young rappers could never write anything this cold. More worried about singing and ab-libs.
I came here on a whim. Left satisfied.
Grimy, Boom Bap, Underground, Masterpiece……….. Word is bond.
Music unites the world. Respect and love for Mobb deep from Italy🖐️
Bella pe domenico
Ce lo sai
I dont like italy but you get a pass (i got robbed in italy)
This song is deep and strong, background music is dark and cold.
best beat in fucking history
Sounds threatening
This track is so dark and cold...it never gets old. CLASSIC 90'S shit
RIP P ❤
This is what I call hip hop!
I will stand on it. I know part 2 is critically acclaimed but shook ones part 1 slaps.
The most meancing & sinister beat in HipHop.
This album and DMX’s- It’s Dark and Hell is Hot has the most darkest grimiest beats🔥
My personal choice would be this
th-cam.com/video/0WnTAuWtgT8/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1
Absolutely. This and Natural born killaz
And Three 6 Mafia old stuff😈
This beat is the essence of boom bap in my opinion. Minimalistic, subterranean atmosphere, filtered samples, basslines that sound like they're coming from an abyss, hard-hitting snares. I don't think anyone's made snares hit harder in their productions than Havoc. His technique is amazing. Absolutely the best music to listen to on a snowy night in the city at 3am.
better than pt 2 in my opinion.. always has been. it has that dark new york/queensbridge vibe. i used to bang this shit so hard in highschool with a nautica windbreaker and timbs in mid summer.
You know what ur talking bout 👊🏾❤️
Ngl this is colder than shook ones 2
Without forgetting part 1... Of the best Rap in Hip Hop History
The beat is colder than Antartica.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 RIP PRODIGY THE GREATEST STORYTELLER IN HIP HOP HISTORY + ONE OF THE GREATEST MC'S OF ALL THE TIME .. but this track was made before he blossomed into the GOAT
finally managed to get to part I
Like both parts but beat in this one just something else
is shook ones pt 2 a remix of part 1 or just parts with different beats and lrycs
It is said that Devil turned into God after hearing this
part one is hard asf and part two is more vibey
5 borough thorough...
It's in the walk... lol
Knowledge of self..
Respect & love...
one of the best beats ever
I used to be such a west coast guy…now I worship at the alter of East coast..mob, Wu, biggie, and beasties. They beats and rhymes are so much more cerebral than west coast shit.
agreed...west coast is good for vibes, partying with bitches and casual cruising...but if u ever wanna get motivated to get hard shit done, up your testosterone or just feel like murdering, east is the direction
I love both. My favourites for east coast are mobb deep and Big L and my favourite west coast is eazy e.
This one is cooler than part ll
Beat so damn dark got me going back to church this week
Easily the most evil beat I’ve ever heard.
I gave you fair warning, beware..
So cold that Hell froze over, so the Mobb brought it up to Earth's surface and made it a classic.
Sometimes it's Hard to believe that a "Human being" Created such a Masterpiece👏👌PRODIGY❤
This one is better but the second one has a better flow and was more put together
R.I.P Prodigy......
When the sequel gets more love than the equally deserving prequel. Both have insane lyrics
I’m sorry prodigy didn’t get his flowers before he left his physical he had one of the top voices that raspy New York sound long live P
RIP Prodigy. Gone. Never forgotten!
After 25 years, it never gets old.
This is the Rap I grew to love. Today's Rap?
😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴
Hip hop madness masterpiece❤️🔥❤️🔥
This is better than part 2. The beat is something else 🔥
The beat is 100% better, but delivery on Havoc's verse was much worse worse than pt.2
you bugging.....all them straight fire!.... Remember this wasn't 2020.... Look at it in the perspective of those days!
It's not, you've just listened to part 2 too much
smokepepsi i actually jus prefer the darkness of part 1 part 2 is the one everyone heard. Part 1 gives u the chills
@@kasht786 The drums in pt 1 hit different ngl
Maybe its because i heard Part II my whole life but i like this beat better.
Might be the coldest beat I ever heard
dark beat so dope
One of my favorites of all time 🔥🔥🔥

Rest in peace Prodigy!Respect from Hungary!
Can't believe they've finally uploaded this masterpiece.
I like this more than Part 2
