Bmw Forlife it was a really good watch and good looking watch, however, I have sold it because I realized it was too bulky for my thin wrist. I now replaced it with a Black Bay 58 and that wears a bit better. But I must say for the price this diver and bracelet combo was really good! It kept decently good time as well and it operated really nicely
Fantastic review buddy! You touched on all the important points with some great footage. Love the way it looks on that Jubilee bracelet too. I like my blue Kamasu, but I don't love it - I probably should have gone for the red.
I've always liked red accents on watches and when I saw the kamasu I knew I was going to get it at some point. You have some pretty cool watches on your channel too. Especially that blue dial seiko 5.
Another great feature is that seiko modding companies such as Namoki now sell bezels for the orient mako/kamasu watches which allows you to access all the bezel inserts created for the skx range. This means you can upgrade the stock bezel insert to a much more durable ceramic or sapphire crystal insert of you wish to. I think with a ceramic upgrade this watch would be completely unrivalled at the price. Also I ordered one last night, these are really popular and sell out pretty quick everywhere. Cannot wait to get mine, that dial is absolutely stunning.
Great watch. Absolutely gorgeous dial. I love that rich burgundy red color. I kept mine on the stock oyster bracelet. It's not amazing but pretty comfortable and I like the signed double lock clasp.
amazing review! I have a black dial kamasu too, and soon after I put the miltat super jubilee bracelet, the watch lug to lug become 50mm LOL (due to the solid endlink). The watch looks bigger

However, I've seen people in Facebook groups fitting all sorts of straps on this watch and it always looks great. I just googled "orient kamasu tropic strap" and from what I could see it compliments the watch very nicely.

@@TheBoldHairspring I got my Kamasu and Strapcode jubilee today and I'm pretty happy with the watch. The endlinks on the Strapcode jubilee are brushed very poorly and not straight. I was going to return it for a new one but they are currently unavailable. Hopefully within the next month there will be more on Amazon. For the price the bracelet should be perfect. The Kamasu is awesome and the red is gorgeous. I love it. The bezel does not line up perfectly but I'm ok with that since I'm going to install the Island Watch coin edge bezel and a lumed ceramic bezel insert. The crown has no wobble at all when the movement is hacked. I was worried about this as I've seen a lot of comments about it. So far it's running +8 seconds per day and I'm happy with that. Maybe it'll settle in even better. The lume is better than on my Ray 2 and it's more evenly applied than my Sinn 556i. I think the Kamasu is an incredible value and even if it wasn't it would still be an awesome looking watch. Orient killed it with this one.

@@TheBoldHairspring I've heard several complaints about Strapcode and poor QC now. If they charged half as much as they do I don't think there would be an issue. But when you pay a premium price the item should be premium. I still love the bracelet. It's extremely comfortable and nicely machined, just the endlink finish is bad. I've heard the Kamasu bezel is very hard to remove. I was looking at pictures of the black and gold Kamasu to get a better look at where the bezel and case split. Between the lugs is your best bet. That is where the best gap is. Between 5 and 6 or 11 and 12. The click spring tabs are between 6 and 7 and 12 and 1. It looks like a pry tool needs to go in at a slight downward angle.
@@TheBoldHairspring I just discovered that on the bezel itself, at the lume pip and at the 30 marker, if you look between the lugs, there is a slightly larger gap between the bezel and case. Similar to the little gap of a snap on caseback.
It's also super comfortable. On the other hand the oyster style has a very similar look to the original but it's better built of course. Just an advice if you decide to get one check Amazon in your country as it may be cheaper to buy it from there instead of the strapcode website.

I received mine two days ago, and I think Orient have seen your review because the bevel on mine is extremely tight! I have a similar Kamasu with mainly round indices and a black/brown sunburst dial (RA-AA0810N19B) where this is not the case, so maybe there is a lack of consistency, but at this price I have no complaints, and it looks beautiful in sun light.
hello, nice video man. i bought the jubilee aswell from amazon but when it came the clasp was closing hardly and not smooth like the original one from the orient. i wonder is it a factory problem or is it that the strapcode miltat bracelet is more rough to close.

I have the Mako and my first watch was the Citizen Fairlady Z Nissan watch which is super nice and I got it direct from Niaan HQ in Japan a month ago. The Kamasua Red is what I am looking for here in Malaysia it's hard to find so next week in Jakarta I found a store I can get one so off to buy my Kamasu Red.

It’s my understanding as well that the certified rating is something that may have been excluded simply because orient didn’t want to pay for it. It doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t pass the cert if they had. Also the green and red are some of the best looking dials out there. I have the green (which is really more of a petrol) and I don’t think I could buy another watch at any price that matches the range of colors this produces. Omega or someone should honestly try to ape it because it’s totally special.
I cannot get the strapcode jubilee to fit right on my Kamasu, either one end or the other of the spring-bar refuses to latch in. Did you have this issue too?

Well have them both, the 5kx with a black(creamy dial) and the Kamasu black dial as well :) got my Kamasu from Amazon Germany, a 189 euro deal, with the shipping cost came out in the end 200eu😂 money well spent I assume

I'm a bit surprised how much backplay there is in the rotating bezel, even compared to the $45 Casio Duro I used to have. Hmm... I think this one just dropped off my list.
I commented a year ago and ended up buying a Gen 2 Kamasu (RA-AA08 series) this week in the red, Dr. Pepper colors. The first thing I noticed when I took the watch out was how well built it was for being a $200 watch. I cannot complain about the backplay in the bezel on my watch. It's no worse than a $400+ Seiko King Turtle. The crown is a bit undersized but mine is not wobbly when unscrewed as many TH-camrs have pointed out with the first gen. The bracelet is fine for the price point, and it's comfortable enough. Good buy.
The best affordable dive watch is an Islander. It comes with a solid end links bracelet with a milled clasp, drilled lugs, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, etc for less than 300 USD.
I don't have any experience with the Islander but it looks like a complete package. However, Islander watches aren't available in Europe and import taxes encourage people to look elsewhere.

Does the Strapcode Jubilee use shaker-head screws? Where the screw is at the top and the pin attached to the screw can move freely.

The Kamasu is def in my top 3 for best divers under $300 but the Triton imho is the best for that price for specs out of the box.

It's not any worse than an skx. I'm actually forcing it in the video 😁 the good thing is that it stays in place.
Zero play on mine ,was surprised to see how much on his.plus the fitting of the end links on that jubilee doesn't look as good as i thought it might.

Islanders are nice and great value dive watches for sure but some may prefer an original design to an homage.
