  • This Range Rover Vogue had only just come back from a days shooting, and as you can see it was particularly dirty.
    I’ll walk you through the steps I take to clean the outside, and go through the importance of pre washing the vehicle.

    Perhaps wring out the wash mitt outside the rinse bucket... that way the dirty water doesn’t end up back in the rinse bucket. Also keeps rinse bucket water fresh for next dip. 👍

    • @HarpersCarDetailing
      @HarpersCarDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I do squeeze the mitt out, and with it o my being a very light mitt it doesn’t need much wringing. I might be hard to see in the video as quite a bit of the wash stage is filed at x2 speed so could easily be missed.

      Hello!
      Hopefully I’ll be able to provide a bit of an insight.
      I would try and learn as much as you can about the car cleaning and the detailing side of things.
      I initially approached people and asked if it would be something that they would be interested in. Sometimes it was a no, and sometimes a positive yes, so it’s definitely worth asking around.
      Once you become more established, word of mouth should pick up and once people see you hard work and dedication, then the work will hopefully come to you.
      Have a look at local valeter/detailers and maybe ask advise from them 👍🏼

    • @HarpersCarDetailing
      @HarpersCarDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wheels are typically the dirtiest part of the car, so to avoid the risk of spraying brake dust and dirt back onto the clean paint work you would clean them first, then like you say wash from the top to the bottom.
      Also with the wheels sometimes taking the longest time you wouldn’t want the water to be sat on the paintwork for too long, especially in summer, as you could run the risk of it drying and creating water spots 👍🏼

    I wash my car with ONE bucket of water, no matter how dirty it is, and i leave it so clean. I don't like people waste the water.

    • @HarpersCarDetailing
      @HarpersCarDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would love to only use one bucket of water to save water, but the likely hood is the car is going to lightly be scratched. The car might be very clean, but if you look at the paintwork in the direct sun you might see swirl marks and fine scratches, which the two bucket method helps eliminate.
      Some times I can spend upwards of 15 hours machine polishing a car so it would be a shame to risk damaging the paintwork for the client 👍🏼

      Hi John,
      This is my entry level valet so would be a bit over kill.
      The majority of the time it’s easy enough to feed a microfibre towel through the spokes to clean the back.
      I would only ever take the wheels off if doing a wheels off ceramic coating protection. 👍🏼

      @@HarpersCarDetailing hello! Just to clarify, I know the difference between a normal wash and a detaleid wash. Here where I live the normal wash is anywhere between 5 to 12 dollars. A detailed wash here is between 20 to 30 dollars. I have a BIG car and last time I paid 26 bucks for a detailed wash. I didn't mean to say you charge too much for your job. I'm sure is not the case and if you've felt like that, I'm sorry. I just wanted to highlight how expensive it is to live in UK. Enjoy the ride and be safe. Cheers.

      I wouldn’t advise using WD40 on the wheels or brake discs.

    • @HarpersCarDetailing
      @HarpersCarDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t use them.
      As long as you’re extra thorough on rinsing the mitt then it’s fine.
      I always clean the mitt right at the top of the bucket, and if the pre-wash stage is thorough enough then in my opinion you don’t need them.

    • @jakepocock1616
      @jakepocock1616 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HarpersCarDetailing A grit guard also traps the grit at the bottom of the bucket, instead of it floating around in the water.
      Whilst your pre wash is great, I would still use a GG, at least in the rinse. If you look at GGs in action they do really help.

    Did you spray degreaser on the body before the two bucket hand wash? That removes any paint protectant, but you don't show applying any kind of sealant. Not good.

    • @HarpersCarDetailing
      @HarpersCarDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes so cirtus degreaser, rinse, snowfoam, rinse then two bucket.
      If your pre-wash removes your sealant then you either have a poor sealant of too strong degreaser.
      I didn’t show application of any sealant as this was just a basic valet and the client didn’t want protection adding at this stage. How is it not good?
