In the global idol debut project, MAKEMATE1, the boys will realize their dreams of becoming idol singers. The boys will overcome their language barriers, cultural backgrounds, and different levels and become mates, and some will be each other’s Checkmates, the rivals. The boys have been training hard day and night, and there’s a special system, Mate Rule, to assess them. In every round, they will be divided into two teams, and their teamwork and individual skills will be evaluated. The living icon of K-pop, XIUMIN, is the main host, and Solar, HANHAE, Vata, INGYOO, and Kim Sung Eun join in as CMATE. Among the 36 boys, who will get the chance to debut and make their dreams come true? The first challenge of the amazing boys who wish to become the new K-pop leading boy group begins now.

It gives me goosebump…I don’t know much but just by logic if - call it refugee or imigrant coming to one’s country there must be ton of hurdle waiting; discrimination, getting sus at, mockery and more. But what he did is right, being open and accept where he came from is the best decision. People would remember him as a brave man. If he wants to touch korean citizen hearts and accepeted, he should be honest, open, and accept who he truly is. Good job. You are one step closer to your dream ❤

I mean lots of south koreans still have this education or image that are taught since they are young that korea is one country. So many south koreans consider North koreans as their own country. The problem is that south korea is really fast paced and obv very different from north korea so many north koreans struggle to adjust. And the newer generations don't feel as connected to north korea as the older generation who had more culture and family in north korea so most of the time they don't have the same mindset anymore and ig that can also lead to discrimination. But many koreans still believe in unification and how their from the same blood so many are accepting and the country itself also uses a large sum of their money to help these defectors because they believe their one country

This is the third nk idol now its interesting how they are all coming just now i wonder if a law was passed?
. These young defectors took the time to learn all they could about K-pop and only recently came to our attention while they were training. NK's environment vastly differs from the freedoms in South Korea. Only the NK elite get plenty of resources and food. These young people had a steep learning curve when they came. Also, from what I've heard, NK has now made it nearly impossible to defect due to all the minefields installed along the border and the increased security patrols.
