Listen, if you get fired, and a guy who looks exactly like you but with a fake mustache and sunglasses suddenly appears in your office, I'm surely not going to judge you. You deserve to reap the benefits of your hard work and see it through.
42-39 from July through to the seasons end. Nice finish when it really looked like that horrible 100 losses could be heading your way. Always good to finish on a positive and added to the really strong draft I think you should be relatively happy and pretty sure the job is now safe 👍. Looking forward to the season review.
Greetings from England! I'm loving the series so far. Congratualions on a great turnaround. Comparing end of season to July 1st, your batting is basically unchanged {OPS .678 now vs .671 in July). The biggest change is that strikeouts went to 7th place now vs 13th in July. I don't think this means anything. Fewer strikeouts but more groundouts and flyouts, for no change in average or OBP. ERA has decreased to 4.56 from 5.01 in July, which means you had a 4.1 ERA in the second half of the season. Your starter ERA decreased by 0.6 and your bullpen by 0.4 (paging Mr Mahle). Defensive efficiency increased to .707 from .698 in July, and zone rating increased to 6th place from 11th place. You earned 1.7 ZR in the first half, 6.7 ZR in the second half of the season. Looking at non-fielding pitching, there's been slight improvements to HR allowed (14th from 15th in July), Strikeouts (13th now from 15th in July) and no change in walks (8th in the league). This looks like a defense inspired comeback. Is it possible to recruit pitchers who are great at not allowing home runs, but otherwise average?
Thank you, appreciate the detailed analysis! I definitely would prefer to avoid flyball-oriented pitchers who give up more HR, but have not been as discerning as I perhaps should be given a bit of a beggars can’t be choosers mentality because of our budget. Hopefully I can do better this offseason!
I dont think you will be fired. Fischer is still 'happy' with you, but i can see you losing some of that. I would honestly be shocked if you ended up without a job... I would go for a division rival if he did fire you and show him what you can do when you actually have money LOL I loved the Mahle rant too
Ha, thank you… I tend to think I will survive this season too, hopefully I will get more than a one year contract renewal. I think I can make progress if I get two more years, and very confident if I get three. But not many people can survive six or seven years of bad to mediocre results, so I’d get it if I don’t get that long a leash!
I’m not even thinking about that yet… until Fisher fires me or I choose to resign, I am GM of the OA’s! It will be a very interesting decision on how to proceed if something does happen though…
Tyler Mahle roasted lol😂

Ha, the Bobby Valentine is a great idea!

Definitely feels good to finish stronger, but have to figure out a way to avoid a brutal start next season!
Don't understand the farm rating.. why are they so different between the goals screen compared to the player development screen 🤷♂️

You absolutely demolished Mahle 😂
Ha, I probably was a little too over the top!
In my game (Brewers) Oakland changed their name to "Naturals" in the 2025 offseason.
Interesting... but not sure I understand it! Good luck with the Brew Crew!
If something DOES happen... might you consider playing an independent team, and trying to get rehired by the A's in the future?

Crossing fingers !
Whatever it takes!

Ha, my contract is up at the end of the postseason, might not be too far off!
I don't think you'll get fired just now. However, if you only get a one year extension, you've been put on notice
Totally agree, one year would not be a good sign…
It seems like all these play me or trade me emails come from the sucky players
It certainly does… I may exercise my option on Mahle just to spite him and dump him back into a long relief role…
You might not be able to find him.. I heard he's still cowering in the corner of the locker room somewhere 😂 @@oldschoolsports
