A lot of these guys are coming into the league with very raw skillsets and fundamentals. I think GMs should prioritize skill-based half court specialists, because those are the guys who thrive in playoff basketball.
The intelligent GM understands the cap model. What GMs are doing when they draft young potential. Is out of the Bill Belichek and Andy Reid handbook. If you can catch fire with a young talent. You can sign him to an extention after the 3rd season. In Springer's case, if he pans out, he will be 21 on a young money deal. At 21 he'll have a bigger ceiling. Meanwhile not hitting their athletic peak. Plus raw younger players can be coached up to other players. Older players have to find the continuity with other players. Take for instance Sam Cassell's and Rajon Rondo's rookie seasons. Cassell was coached up to Olajuwon and Kenny Smith. Cassell was invaluable to both players (championship) . Rondo as a Rookie showed he could be coached up to KG. That made Sebastian Telfair expendable. Delonte West was serviceable in the game plans. But he and KG nor Perkins particularly had any cohesion. If you draft a junior or senior. That player is almost at his athletic peak in terms of metabolism, strength and power balance. Extentions for a player like that at 24 or 25 could be a good thing or a waste of time. Even if its a good thing, that player will be closer to the top of the hill for the next contract unless he becomes a superstar.
I'm happy we took him, but he's never gonna be an NBA starter for a contender. He looks like his ceiling is a different version of a George Hill-esque player. His handles are quite weak, as is his mid-range jumper. Doesn't portend well for his NBA career. Albeit, he has serious upside. Why does every draft pick we (Philly) take have to be the next coming of [x star]? He's okay going right, but NBA teams will quickly adapt. I hope he can develop. This guy isn't Maxey; he's not gonna contribute this year, in all likelihood. RIGHT NOW, he's a wealthy-man's/better version of Zhaire Smith. Zhaire was "only" an athlete. Springer at least is a baller.
Hoop intellect is the channel I trust most for comps. Was looking into Springer and was excited when I saw you posted a video on him just yesterday. If anyone can make me higher on him it's you.
Those are super efficient numbers for a freshman guard with his athleticism. I can see him being a perfect fit for the OKC Thunder at #16 or Presti trading up a few spots to grab him. SGA, Springer, and Dort could make an interesting future backcourt.
I would love for the Knicks to pick this kid up at 19 or 21 pick as long as he still is projected to be picked in the 20s, and if the Knicks don't trade up in the lottery. 6'4" high motor with elite defensive potential is a Thibs type pg and would be a very good prospect for them moving forward.
It’s funny looking at him back in college to where he is now with the Sixers organization. He looks so much more athletic now with more explosion. I also think he grew another inch or Two. I think he will be a SF in the league
I want to see you do a scouting reports on Corey Kispert, Alperen Sengen, James BouKnight, Franz Wagner, Isaiah Jackson, Usman Garuba, Josh Giddey and Kai Jones. I love this channel
Jaden going to Philly, already being pretty good with catch and shoot 3’s, not to mention he’ll have Simmons especially, but also guys like Seth and even Tyrese Maxey who can all help him enormously with his handle but also give advice about what to do in certain situations that he may not be goof at yet or may have a bad habit. I really like the pick overall, especially late 20’s. We just gotta develop him well and we be on the way to two or three big time hits in the draft in a row with a pick in the twenties. This dude’s offense is definitely already being a bit underrated on ESPN n the networks. I think he has a pretty decent looking mid range game, as well as catch n shoot threes. His offense kinda reminds me of Tobias, but sloppy. He even seems to turn it over when he’s moving around, handling the ball in the half court. His ceiling could definitely be very high.
It’s the 28th pick dude….you’re not gonna get many players that are polished at that point. There’s a reason why they’re going so low. Kids only 18 and hasn’t even touched his physical peak.
@@Joe-kv6tk w/ Jared Butler on the board, I expected that to be the pick. Elite shot creator, and playmaker for others. Guves Embiid a scorer that can fill it up from all spots on the floor. Ayo Dosunmu could’ve would’ve had a nice role on the team.

Definitely a 1st rd prospect, could be a solid value pick mid to late 1st rd. Knicks got 2 picks in the 1st and 1 early 2nd, if we can get him with one of those picks we’d be straight on the PG search.
Honestly right now, I’m in between drafting Tre Mann or Deuce McBride with one of the 1st we have. I feel they have better immediate upside than both Springer and Butler. Can wait for next weeks draft!!

If the cavs trade Collin Sexton for a power forward then I think Jaden Springer would be a great replace. Fits well with Darius Garland. Garland can be the main ball handler and Jaden Springer can be the main playmaker
Attention all fans. I think that coach doc Rivers should start Jaden Springer at point guard instead of Ben Simmons ... Then by mid-season Springer will be really comfortable on the court. And the sixers will start to dominate like they were supposed to. Springer bringing the ball pulls up for three bang.
Maybe all round point guard. No way a star. He'll be a perfect PG for a team like the Celtics where the ball is dominated by the wings. He reminds me of Kris Dunn.

@@tommyharper126 Those are some of my top prospects too. I also like Corey Kispert, Davion Mitchell, Scottie Barnes, Jared Butler, and Chris Duarte. We got some nice options 🔥 Hope they make the right pick.
I don’t see Springer offering immediate impact. He’s got potential as a shooter, but he’s going to be in the low 30s percentage wise from 3 his first year or two in the league. You can see the hesitation, and his shot is also a little hitchy from 3. He looks like he can turn it into a solid 1 motion shot once he works that hesitation/hitch out of it. Moody has a much better chance of contributing immediately because he’s a better shooter than Springer by a decent margin right now.
@@GoZags43 Oh I would take Moody over Springer IN A HEARTBEAT but he may not be available where we pick. In regards to Springer, while his shot is questionable, he’ll get a ton of open looks with Steph and Klay on the floor. I think he’ll be able to capitalize on those well enough. Also he is a good defender which is something he’ll contribute immediately. He won’t have a huge role - knock down open looks & play good defense. That’s enough for us.
Warriors should get him if we don’t get Jalen Suggs with our 1st rounder. We aren’t getting Springer with the Twolves pick because it’s gonna be too high

The way shoots the ball makes him lose his strength and release it on his peak from the jumper. It's also the reason he always had an airball. This kid has a raw athleticism, good core balance, and defensive IQ to strip the ball without fouling. He has the potential to be an all-around guard. The best comparison and ceiling for him is Russell Westbrook except for the defense part.
