As a coloured this happens to me allllllllll theeeeee time. I am followed around all the time in shops (what's up Clicks Fish Hoek!) and I can't comment on Nodumo Mhlongo's experience but I was once told by a white dude at the Apple store on the V&A waterfront to 'go play'. #behumble

Regarding the video I think that, Yes, this most definitely was a perfect example of racial profiling because one cannot merely assume that another is a perpetrator without having some sort of logical concrete proof and NOT RACE, to back their story. The employee didn't care to look through footage and get some sort evidence against Nondumo but he/she relied on their caucasian gut feeling that they were right...LOL. That employee merely just took one look at Nondumo and immediately thought "I'm in danger" so they did the typical caucasian thing of exercising their privilege and getting it filled with police, of which I'm guessing didn't take that long considering the power of white privilege.
Imagine how many black people there are that experienced this kind of treatment at solms delta or anywhere else who haven't spoken out or reported it whatsoever
The fact that they were talking over her in Afrikaans and that they didn't want to let her go even though there was dololo proof shows of the kind of mass generalisation fueled by racist motif and anchored by apartheid mindedness; that black people have the misfortune of dealing with on a daily basis ugh.
