If Hope had given him blood that day, then when he died, he would come back as a hybrid. But instead, the Necromancer took his soul and body so now he either belongs to the Necromancer or has to stay in the prison world. The only one who can set Ralphs soul free is the Necromancer but he does not want to and wants ralph to be his eternal acolyte.

It says if you die in prison world you will be back in the real world alive. So imo if Raf were to die in prison world he would come back alive in the real world. Maybe I'm wrong on how he comes back, but hey there's always a loophole in legacies.
