      The grit guard is great to seperate the mitt from the dirt on the bottom. I don't use it to rub the mitt at all.
      Especially for ONR washes. I'll finish a wash, refill the bucket with fresh ONR then leave the BRS in the clean solution covered.

    Scott, what you need is an electric self-propelled wash bucket bot that has a track propulsion system that will follow you around on any terrain as you're washing a car. Oh, and you'll need two: one for the soap bucket and one for the rinse bucket. You'll be able to program the thing remotely with your phone. This will definitely impress your customers with the fact that you are fully on board with the high-tech evolution of modern business.

Scott, I wish I would have started watching your videos when they first came out. I may have used a bit too much soap, but that's a pretty simple adjustment. I love your common sense videos packed with backup reasoning as well as your product evaluations.

    After watching your video I decided to do research to see about this. I have actually found multiple sources that say this new, no bucket method is being taught to many detailers and is catching on, more so in Australia, but it is only a matter of time before it gets huge in the states. Your multiple wash mitts method, the phrase they used, is very good. Some state that the foaming is not truly useful at all but to still do the multiple mitts. Others say the foam is great lubrication for your mitts. I am someone who has detailed cars, out of pure enjoyment. I really like doing it and it calms me when drafting and architecture get annoying and I need a few hours break. I am glad I saw your video before buying useless buckets and all that. I am starting a detailing company on the side for the days drafting is slow. Your video was very, very helpful. Liked and subscribed.

    FINALLY! Somebody who gets it! I'm an old guy but only been truly detailing my car for the last 4 years - thanks to my son introducing the sport to me. I have two buckets alright - from Home Depot. One holds my water, shampoo, and 5 submerged super thick microfiber towels, and the other is empty. I rinsed the car thoroughly, then pull out one of the soaked towels, fold it and start to wash the car. I do one half of the roof, and flip it; do the other half of the roof and it
    and refold it and keep going. When I have used all 8 sides - I throw it in the empty bucket!! It never sees my car again that day! Rinse the car of the soap and continue. It's impossible to contaminate the soapy water! And my car is flawless.
    Thanks for confirming my method Scott! It's so simple.

  • @berkeleygang1834
    @berkeleygang1834 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brilliant! I'd come to the same conclusion, but lacked implementation. When I was younger/cheaper, I made my own "grit guard" from those square fluorescent tube panels used in drop ceilings. A couple bucks bought a panel that would make several grit holders. You're spot on about swirling the water and bringing up the dirt. That's why I abandoned the light panels and went to the real deal. Same problem. Then I noticed that organic matter (leaves or worse, nut dust - I have live oak trees and the nuts often shatter when they hit the concrete driveway) would float in the rinse and wash water. Grit Guard does nothing to get those out of your mit, and trust me, that organic crap can be just as marring/scratching/swirling as the sand and other road dirt the grit guard might stop (if you didn't agitate the dirt up off the bottom when dunking the mit). My grit guards and buckets are going to become Christmas gifts to a fellow car club member. :D

    Scott... from one bald guy to another, wear a hat when you are in the sun more than a min or two. I see your scalp...please trust me and wear a sunblocking hat. I wear a bucket hat made by panama jack, claims UV proof. Super lightweight, I cannot wear baseball caps, they give me headaches. ;) just a thought...oh nice video ;)

    Hey Scott. I've been wondering what the correct way to clean microfiber wash mitts is. How do you do so? I usually just throw mine in the clothes washer with regular old liquid detergent.

    Great video...the only change I would recommend for this process is to first wash off the initial snow foam and then do a second snow foam for when you use the multi-microfiber wipe down.
    Think of it this way, the initial snow foam will contain numerous dust particles that can potentially scratch your paint; however, that risk is minimized by adding a second snow foam for a mitt wipe down!

    Scott, honest question:
    Would you consider it of little benefit to use a 2 foam process? First application is allowed to dwell before rinse. Second to be washed then rinsed. Theory being the removal of contaminants in First application before applying a wash mitt.

      Matthew Steinkamp I done exactly what this douche bag said a few months ago and it ruined the ceramic coating because the wash mitt was rubbing dirt back and forth leaving swirl marks. All to save $1.99’x 2 5 gal buckets at Walmart.... Even if you wash it with 20 mits that cost $5 each still not going to stop those scratches

    • @TheHairyHouseWife
      @TheHairyHouseWife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snow foam isn't lubricated like shampoo it's there to cling to the dirt and pull it off .... Shampoos which are designed for bucket use are lubricated so you don't scratch the car

    Remembered in elementary science classes we did experiments with dirt in water and how long it took for the dirt and water to separate.
    So the 2 bucket method never made sense to me. I just used multiple mitts.

      Same. The point of the first one is to get as much of the grit off as possible before washing it with a mitt. My 1994 300ZX with black paint scratches even with the softest of the most expensive microfiber clothes on perfectly cleaned paint. It's just too soft to even breathe to much near it. Just wearing jeans with rivets near the paint scratches it.

    Finally I found someone else who uses the exact same method I've been using for years.
    Time saved = more money in my pocket.
    I had a local detail guy tell me he can do 2 cars per day. I've told him I can wash and detail 3, so I can make the same money, while only working 4 days a week.
