FINALLY SOMEBODY THAT ACTUALLY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS!!! There have been so many FN/UEFN TH-camrs that have been just brushing this issue aside, because they think that this will go away in a month or so.
Completely agree with this. 90% of all creative maps are garbage and copy and paste. All the red vs blue, "default deathruns", box fights, gun games, tycoons. It's just kids that feed into this content.
I’m actually working on a battle royale game mode right now. Whole new island, new spawn island, etc. hopefully people don’t think it’s a copy and paste lol
me and a friend spent months on a prison escape UEFN map, it got popular for a day with a $500 payout and it died right after. someone posts HALLOWEEN PIT or MIA KHALIFA BOX FIGHT and gets enough money to pay for someone's entire college tuition, this system is too broken
I don't think it's necessarily the system's fault or else your game would've remained popular, it's just that the target audience prefers the low-effort maps. Because well, they're kids. If they see skibidi or something, they'll play it all day.
The reality is that unless Epic changes how maps get pushed out or a heavily known creator pushes out a unique map, I do not think it is going to change. I'm also very surprised that Mini BR and Zombie maps are not as popular. I know they are not really original since STW and BR exist, but with those maps, you can at least get at least somewhat of a different experience through different environments or possible new weapon. It is a shame cause I would play a Creative Zombie map with a unique boss like how the Storm King from STW.
Literally no popular creator knows how to make good maps. Just search “new creative map” or something on TikTok and all you’ll see are duplicate maps from verified accounts or something
You Are So Real. I Had An Idea Of Making Maps Myself but seeing all of These “Good Quality” maps Pop off I Just didn’t think I was Good enough and I brb couldn’t bc I a Minor :D
I've been getting into making UEFN stuff specifically because I see all this garbage on the main page and want to improve it. However it's definitely demoralizing knowing that red v blue skibidi toilet boxfights level up 100+ is going to outnumber anything I could make, because quality stuff takes time, while easy slop can just be tweaked and reposted constantly. Ideally what Epic should do is limit the amount of each genre can show up at the top of the list, so there's only a small few boxfights/parkours/prophunts, and the rest are pushed down to make way for more novel experiences. In the meantime, all we can do is find good maps, and boost them as much as we can. If you see something you thing is good quality, share it; show it to your friends, post it on youtube, anything to help get the creator encouraged (and paid) so they will be more likely to produce more quality maps. Then it might even catch Epic's attention and get featured.
Exactly. Sharing and shouting-out good effortful maps are kinda the only thing we can do right now (if you cannot make maps yourself). I think the way Epic features/promotes maps on Twitter and Discovery kinda pushes creators to make maps like this because "if everybody's making this and getting money, why shouldn't I?" Thank you for this comment.
Very good Video on this topic. Its insane how the current system works just as TH-cam does, with the Thumbnail beeing more important than the actual content. I also feel like actual ingame gameplay preview images would help many maps to show what they are about, the current system is pretty lackluster. But I do believe it will improve once Verse gets more features as very good maps will always find their audience, but we will see!
this is all I want to hear my head hurts everytime i see the same shit in the discovery tab look what happened the rocket racing it just mega ramps there nothing related to racing it just ramps question does epic games even makes money from the uefn like the "uefn creators" or no..? (btw you earn a sub my guy)
It truly hurts me to see how UEFN fell off course, I'm even doubting if my next map is going to be crushed by the same tycoon/boxfight. Sometime i would really like if epic took some action against it but they will never do that they just added more rows expecting it would help but instead all it did was to show same maps, anyway. i'll keep working on my map hoping it will change someting among creators. btw i'll make sure to support you with your code in my next skin purchase XD i liked your vid.
I miss the days where there were less than 10 game modes available at once. Now I'm forced to look at hundreds of maps every time I wanna hop on any of the main game modes.
So true. I honestly don’t understand why there isn’t a threshold on Discovery for maps. Something like… once you’ve had X amount of time and/or have X,000 of CCU’s then you’re on your own so another map/creator can get a push. Then it would leave a map that’s been pushed and done well to maintain its user base on its own merits (which this stuff you mention would not) and it would stop the cycle of garbage (to an extent).
It’s literally all the same Red vs Blue, Green vs Purple , *insert comic book hero* vs * insert comic book hero* , *insert random celebrity* vs *insert random celebrity* , Red vs Blue(With a bunch of mythics that aren’t in creative) Like there’s 0 creativity and don’t even get me started on the copy and paste box fight maps and the copy and paste free for alls..
And OH GOD don’t even get my started on the overflow of horrible low effort death runs atp the only good thing to come with UEFN has been horror maps and art showcases
and the worst part of UEFN is the thumbnails. why is everyone use AI to create a thumbnail? in 2021 when discover added, so much 3d renders make so much cooler thumbnails like 2 fortnite skins running and holding a gun or something else and now everyone is just use AI to generate a image of a character and a icon to a item it's just worst like this will be the future. (anyways i'm happy that i'm not alone about UEFN) subbed :)
You didn’t try any of the unique powers like freeze, Slender or mummy, which took a lot of time to make and are actually fun to use with other ppl🗣️🗣️🗣️
as someone who was really into the creative scene earlier this year, i had very high hopes with uefn's capabilities and how the community would use them, but unfortunately everything has become the same, no one tries to do something unique or original since that doesn't get plays like "skibidi toilet tycoon" or "ohio pvp super hero box fights" it just became so demotivating and i haven't touched creative mode in months. i keep saying that i want to get back into making maps, but i don't want to succumb to the discovery meta just to get ten concurrent players in a map.
their are problems outside of creators control that make this worse too. like that unreal engine is hard to learn and use to its full potential, that the weekly updates breaking SOMETHING your map really incentevises creators to go with simple map designs, that the market is very overasaturated forcing creators to clickbait more and more to stand out and that the players of fortnite are primarily children who don't care about findng new experiences and just want to crank 90s and emote and aren't going to be interested in objective-based gameplay or PvE maps or maps with a story or other things like that which require them to step outside of their comfort zone.
It's funny how absurd your starting statement and your thumbnail are. The fact that the discovery tab is full of box pvp and red vs blue maps has nothing to do with UEFN. On the contrary, UEFN gave us the abilities to create more intricate games with complex mechanics and better environments while those maps most of the times can be made with Creative 1.0 tools. What you describe as a problem, which objectively is, has a completely different root than the one you suggest, and it's the algorithm used by epic to promote maps. Because this algorithm, and the fact that the maps that get paid well are those who perform well and not the high quality ones, the discovery tab is full of low effort games. If that was to change, the discovery page would look completely differently.
UEFN is mostly why every single Red VS Blue, Tycoon, Box PVP, and Box Fight are the exact same asset flips now. It's also mostly the reason why basically 99% of maps are straight dogshit because Epic decided to leak the creator earnings so now people start spamming absoloute slop made with UEFN (for stolen models, verse code, and UI) with stolen thumbnails and other things for a quick buck. Before UEFN I was actually able to find good, unique, and somewhat high-quality maps. But ever since it came out it's basically IMPOSSIBLE. Every row, every map is just the same exact "LEVEL 1 BV LEVEL 999" thumbnail with over saturated colors, or completely misleading high-quality renders just for the map to just be a zone with item spawners, cars, and a massive empty terrain. Me and my friend everyday play Creative for HOURS, and most of that time is, I kid you not, spent on actually finding maps. We have played every single map in the Zombies category TWO MONTHS AGO and it hasn't changed. We have played every single map in the "Epic's Picks" row, every map in the "New In UEFN" row 5 days in a row, and now we genuinely cannot find anything to play because everything is the EXACT SAME down to the UI and Sounds they use in these Tycoons or "Zombie" maps that just end up being a tycoon with 5 zombies sprinkled around.
@@Nitr0hSquared Again, nothing wrong with UEFN, what you described once again is the problem the monetisation and the algorithm created. The tool itself has nothing to do with the fact that you can’t find quality maps inside discovery. It is like blaming the printer because your local library has low quality books. Hope you understand what’s wrong with your argument.
@babakaros3d The algorithm has been tweaked to prioritize UEFN maps over 1.0. Easily proven by there rarely being 1.0 maps. It also doesn’t care about quality, but cares bout player count. These kid slop maps stay on discovery so long because they’re almost always paid to be promoted on TikTok or player-botted. This could easily be prevented if Epic better enforced Creator Rules and also did proper Quality Control on UEFN maps (which I know they have, as they deny maps from being approved for reasons such as “Gameplay needs improvement”, but very rarely). Hope you understand what’s wrong with UEFN and Creative in general nowadays.
@@Nitr0hSquared What you said above is indeed true, but not one of your points proves that UEFN ruined Fortnite Creative. We seem to agree on the problem but one of us chooses to blame the tool while the other understands that it emerges from bad management on Epic's side. Remember, UEFN is just a tool. Creators use the tool to create games (both good and bad). Players play those games. Epic promotes the most played ones. Out of all four, you choose to blame the one that isn't responsible at all for the Discovery's state.
I'd like to agree that it's just the tool, but look at the timeline. Ever since it came out and Epic decided to leak the earnings of UEFN maps, it's all gone downhill. More spam maps came out that haven't been punished, more scams (like The Pit blatantly breaking two creator rules yet still being Featured and praised because it switched to UEFN), more drama based around UEFN, Creative 1.0 (non-converted) maps rarely being shown at all on discovery or always with low player counts, maps actually utilizing UEFN to it's full potential not being praised nearly as much as spam maps solely because the spam makes more money for Epic/The Creator, I could go on. Again, I'd love to agree that UEFN is simply a tool that's optional to use, but it really just seems like it's a complete replacement or that it's mandatory to use to get anywhere at all in Creative. It seems like making these shitty spam "Zero Delay" or "Box PVP" maps are mandatory to stay on Discovery for longer than a day or even get ON discovery. Notice how most if not all popular Fortnite creators/youtubers aren't trying to make anything unique or revolutionary, but instead just copying others and making the exact same zero delay maps, box pvp, or RVB with zero changes or differences other than "your favorite youtuber made it". What's usually the main selling point of the maps? It's made with UEFN. It's like if you don't even say that it doesn't get plays. I may be repeating myself and excuse me if I am, but Discovery is literally tweaked to prioritize UEFN maps. There is zero actual quality control, zero actual spotlight, none of that. Yes, "Epic's Picks" may have like 5 maps that are a tiny bit different, but notice how they're always below 100 players. Notice how maybe 1-2 of them aren't even unique or different than the average spam map. And ironically, notice how it's always BURIED down in Discovery. Look at the tab literally named "New In UEFN" that's, of course, almost always full of the same spam maps with low effort thumbnails and clickbait titles. Now to go a tad off-topic, would I still use UEFN if I could? Yes, though I can't because I'm on Mac. I feel UEFN when used properly is an amazing tool and I basically have to use it because Epic is slowly burning 1.0's UI/UX to the ground right now. But, when UEFN was announced I really did not like the idea of it. Not sure if you know what it is, but another game I create in called Rec Room did a simular thing before Fortnite where they allowed creators to use Unity to make games in Rec Room instead of doing it in-game. And unsurprisingly, the exact same thing that's happening in Fortnite is happening in Rec Room which is basically another reason why I hate UEFN: it ruins UGC. It really hurts Rec Room because the game is literally completely built upon UGC, but since people can use Unity and Rec Room has bad moderation, it's basically all low-effort spam. That's all.
Do what you want no matter if you think it's too "different". Stealing and never works out in the long-run and usually doesn't work at all. (always keep'n it real)
I agree with multiple things in the video. One argument I have though is that UEFN didn't cause these maps to get "popular". But rather the way discover handles the map showcase process.
I think this problem is not just for UEFN maps, but also for streamers/content creators who do the trends that get alot of views versus doing something unique and original. It goes back to the argument of "Do I make something that is actually genuinely cool but doesn't get alot of plays, or do I hop on the train where if I copy/paste something that is "working" but I don't enjoy doing?" UEFN has alot of potential for people to make cool stuff, but unfortunately the kids that play these copy/paste maps aren't interested in those other maps :(
I agree. While UEFN itself didn't just CREATE the issue I spoke about, it definetely amplified the issue beyond the horizon and still persists to this day. It's really Epic's fault for not properly rewarding uniqueness and creativity but instead rewarding people who bandwagon others and get popular. This is proven by Epic recently promoting the most popular RVB map that was a copy-ception of other RVB maps. It's also why I haven't really made any videos or devlogs recently because the creative scene is just very dry and boring for content and motivation to create anything. EDIT: And touching on your "the kids are interested in other maps" that's also because Epic doesn't promote anything but what's been popular for years already or is of a oversaturated genre.
The problem isn't UEFN, it's the curation system. If Epic actually hired people to push interesting maps the problem would go away, but they instead push Red v Blue, Tycoon etc maps because that's what people play... and that's what people play because that's what gets pushed. It's a never ending cycle of shit, but it has nothing to do with UEFN
Have to agree with you on the repetition of the maps, but as a creator seeing everyone play these maps when you have 0 playing yours and you’re not making money… then what do you suggest? Keep making maps that no one will play?
Extremely good point-Yes. If you hop on that bandwagon it wouldn’t last long. But if you make something that genuinely looks fun to play or is unique, then promote it before it comes out, you’d most likely get a head start in Discovery. I’ve seen creator pages where they started out making maps with zero promotion/marketing and then having no players, so they’d try copying other maps like Box PVP or RVB and those failed too-leading to them quitting Creative all together. Simply just theory, though.
@@Nitr0hSquared thanks for the advice. Unfortunately Im going through a bit of a process similar to this where I’ve been a creator for almost three years now and not a single map I have made has hit 1000 plays on it and then I see this junk with 20 thousand people playing and I think, hmm 🤔 Maybe I’ll catch a break one day! 😂
Yeah im really tired of seeing all the same games with the same mechanics and i have been thinking on publish some of my maps and trying to get a creator code but now that i see how most of the fortnite comunity it makes me lose hope i always think that not a lot of people would play my maps if i publish them so im just really tired of seeing all those maps as i keep seeing cool maps with original ideas being the less played ones (Lol I left a lot of text)
I was thinking Epic should add like a "Creators/Community Recommendations" so lesser known and higher quality maps are pushed out. But then i remember this is the fortnite community and i know that shit will be flooded with ass because the creators would wanna promote themselves with a map they had a dude make in like 10 minutes.
Thank you for making this video I myself am a small creator and I can barely get anyone on my map because everyone is just playing those dumbass brain rot maps so I barely get 3 players a day and then when my thumbnail looks copy and pasted even though I designed the whole thing myself for 20 minutes (I'm bad with thumbnails) yet these maps are doing the same thing but changing like 1 pixel using ai or some bullshit like that smh
The fact they have the access to all Unreal Engine 5 tools and decide to make that garbage of "red vs blue" Is the worst, i've seen better games with more love in Scratch
i think "tycoon" games are these creators way of hacking young children who possibly cant even play proper fortnite into coming back at a game where you win by pressing a button whole day. thats my theory on why that shit is everywhere on my fortnite page
these days scrolling through the discovery tab in fortnite is like looking at gummy bears lined up in a wall but they are the same flavor with different colors, at this point creative 1.0 maps are getting more creative than the UEFN maps
Yeah I just dropped into UEFN to try and make my own map and man, I can't shake the feeling that it's pointless. No matter how hard I try or how unique the game mode will be - it's useless unless I do AI thumbnails and "unique class mechanics" as stated in your video. For now I don't want to do that but maybe if the state of discovery is the same by the time I'm finished - I might resort to it
The entire map doesn't have to be ultimately breath-takingly unique. Sorry if I came off like that. Don't be discouraged though. Keep creating the map and try and build an audience (tiktok, twitter, etc) before publishing the map so it gets a head start out there.
@@Nitr0hSquared nono, as a creator I WOULD want to make it as unique as possible :) That's probably the ultimate goal of every creator. But unfortunately it looks like the community is not really interested in a unique experience. Just typical "zone wars with `all` weapons and some minor powers" will work as well as a custom coop campaign if not better. But yeah, promoting is a whole different story. A difficult task for someone distant from SMM
The issue with UEFN is the same issue with Roblox games but worse. What are the similarities?: - Both have awful recommend tabs that only push the more popular games to the top (typically when I play Roblox I play games with less players active) - both have very young fan-bases that the people making these maps can exploit to profit off - They are both given too much ‘free assets’ and the majority of games use it to avoid extra work Both are amazing platforms but both have big flaws with their systems.
Before UEFN came out I was dreading it’s release because I know that everyone was just going to take random really crappy 3D models and shove them in the map and I was right
As someone who wants to make maps and games I agree with this sentiment, I want to make it profitable and sustainable for me but fun and original, all this grab bag garbage ruins that I either make an original game and have no players and no earnings, or a game that is copy and paste and hundreds of not thousands of dollars. It feels comparative to something like the topic of "the Mr Beastification of TH-cam". It sucks man
I suggest you just do it. Make the game, if it flops, oh well, make another some time that month. Promote it on TikTok or Shorts. Build a community around the maps and interact with them. Basically just act like they don’t exist when creating. (Unrelated but I have a Discord you can join and we’re like 20 off from 100 members so if you could help that’s be cool.)
Definitely, the hard part is especially when it comes to the marketing and you do everything you can. Only to be beaten by AI fortnite brain rot Especially when it comes to innovative ideas. Me currently, I'm posting regular FFA maps inspired by old school arena shooters and even made trailers on my channel and social media for it
Im new in UEFN and i want to create an Open World Zombie Apocalyps map where you can fight against players and zombies. Its a bit hard an complicatet but its okay👌🏽
Real i started in chapter 4 since my firied told me we could cross-play and when i looked at the maps i said to myself bro what are these clickbait maps
Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you make a different comment earlier about UEFN because if you did I had a response but TH-cam wasn't letting it thru.
I know that this would make even more slop maps, but I really wish Epic would allow people who don’t meet the age requirements to be able to post maps, just without the ability to make money, because I spent 2 weeks working on a map to realize when I was almost done that I can’t post the map at all, even when it was just something for me and my friends to play.
I think another problem is copyright, now I know you might be saying, “oh but it’s not fair for them to be earning money from other people’s works” It’s clear Fortnite is trying to become the next Roblox, and there are PLENTY of Roblox games that are based on licensed IP, and they can make money from those games easily.
By the way, good video. I really want to create a unique map that stands out of that copy paste $h!t that you see when you load in the game. Have a great day guys❤
Fortrnite needs an algorithm that actually helps you find games that you'll enjoy and filter out all that crap. I stopped looking for good maps because all I'm shown are tycoon crap.

I gotta say, the goal was never really about empowering creators. Just look at how they make it a pain for users to report any creative misconduct. You can't report maps in-game; you've got to go to the website, and even then, it's hidden at the bottom of the page. They're not keen on shutting these maps down; they want them to stick around because it boosts the numbers for the business. That way, Tim Sweeney can use it in his presentations to investors and push his dumb-ass idea of a multiverse, claiming it's doing wonders for Fortnite. Meanwhile, he's putting people out of jobs because his shit business choices just to outdo Valve and act like he's the bastion of morality (which he clearly isn't).
I've reported a creator for sending me death threats in DMs/tweets, sending gun images, and being racist to Epic and although it was solid proof it was them they said "we cannot do anything about this as it's on Twitter and not Fortnite". ??? I've always found the lack of reporting in-game so odd.
I have two maps that took months to make and they're sitting at zero and go way better compared to most of the maps that I see in discovery it's a travesty.
Uefn isn't ruining fortnite it's the moderation and the xp clickbait was here before UEFN and it is a problem when the wrong thing is being blamed it can add hate that really wasn't necessary especially since uefn is a cut down version of the most powerful game development tools on earth another thing is that it has insanely high reward for creating spam because of the engagement system gives out so much money that alot turned to absolute greed which contributed to the massive problems in the system with discovery tab being overwhelmed by new maps everyday
yea it’s a shame, don’t really know how you solve this though from fortnite’s perspective. I happen to also be a map maker who’s gone through this exact process. I mean shit, I wanna make money and no one gives a shit about actual creativity, so why not just pump out red vs blue garbage?
@@Nitr0hSquared ok but how do you practically enforce quality control, what does that mean from an actionable standpoint? And what creator rules? Copyrighted material has definitely been a gray area but although everything is very similar, it’s different enough to be considered transformative, so again not sure how fortnite fixes this. Not on anyone’s side just genuinely curious
Quality control could be: - checking thumbnails for oversaturated colors, clickbait, AI, non-related/misleading content - a dedicated team for reviewing maps with high traffic in short amounts of time after being published or being reported - listening & responding to player reports (email, Twitter mention, in-game) about maps - preventing the use of UEFN solely to appear higher in Discovery ("New in UEFN" tab is pretty high up) / to create islands mostly made up of free use models from third-party site like Sketchfab I can go on.
A quick read through Fortnite's Island Creator Rules and a scroll through some popular discovery islands will tell you that some of them just don't give a shit about the rules. For example: The Pit by Geerzy violates 2 rules. 1.9 Play by the Rules: The island has multiple boards at spawn signaling that if you Like & Favorite the island, you will be granted a gun that is otherwise unobtainable anywhere else in the island. Keep in mind you can Like he same mal multiple times and it DOES add up. 1.11 All Bets Are Off: The creator recently added a "Lucky Wheel" mechanic to the island allowing players to spend money to get a random weapon. The issue is that you can do the exact same thing for free on the other side of the map with the "Random Load out" button.
@@Nitr0hSquared very interesting ideas, appreciate you taking the time to give thorough responses. Interested to see how things with UEFN develop over time
Even if i agreed with that you just have to realize the amount of money you can get with Fortnite map is absurd so if a current meta work map creator will do what work to get that bag
I don't think this is a problem with uefn but more with the way fortnite promotes maps which you describe in great detail I agree with everything else though
Nah, see I fw zombie maps HEAVY. Been playing them ever since they because popular way back in the chapters. I’m working on one rn if you wanna see a Devlog, it’s called “Planet Zero”. Wasn’t posted too long ago.
I get what you're saying. but UEFN didn't cause this. It was created to push this garbage into obscurity. Trust me, there are currently a LOT of solo devs and teams working on bigger games for this platform. It just came out and recently got some updates. The content might take a while, but it's coming.
You're saying this as if I can just get people to stop playing these maps. 💀 Fortnite controls what gets shown not me slow-ass it's not my fault these lil' kids continue to play it because they don't care what the creator does they just like the map.
If you watch this video knowing it's a rant and made to critically speak against the maps shown, and you decide to start playing it, that has nothing to do with me. The entire video is made to bring awareness to these kids of maps, and the only way I can clarify and show proof/examples is by SHOWING THE MAPS. I never at all in any capacity said "but anyways, go play and check out these maps!" at all in this video. I do not like these maps (clearly).

And the crazy thing is they make BANK from it. They even sometimes break Creator Rules and still stay up.

and the worst part of UEFN is the thumbnails. why is everyone use AI to create a thumbnail? in 2021 when discover added, so much 3d renders make so much cooler thumbnails like 2 fortnite skins running and holding a gun or something else and now everyone is just use AI to generate a image of a character and a icon to a item it's just worst like this will be the future. LMFAOOO I think you're the ONLY person who saw that 😭
You didn’t try any of the unique powers like freeze, Slender or mummy, which took a lot of time to make and are actually fun to use with other ppl🗣️🗣️🗣️
Bro your underrated subbed
as someone who was really into the creative scene earlier this year, i had very high hopes with uefn's capabilities and how the community would use them, but unfortunately everything has become the same, no one tries to do something unique or original since that doesn't get plays like "skibidi toilet tycoon" or "ohio pvp super hero box fights"
it just became so demotivating and i haven't touched creative mode in months. i keep saying that i want to get back into making maps, but i don't want to succumb to the discovery meta just to get ten concurrent players in a map.
Exactly how I feel.
(love the pfp)
Weirdo
their are problems outside of creators control that make this worse too. like that unreal engine is hard to learn and use to its full potential, that the weekly updates breaking SOMETHING your map really incentevises creators to go with simple map designs, that the market is very overasaturated forcing creators to clickbait more and more to stand out and that the players of fortnite are primarily children who don't care about findng new experiences and just want to crank 90s and emote and aren't going to be interested in objective-based gameplay or PvE maps or maps with a story or other things like that which require them to step outside of their comfort zone.
That's all.
Bro I wanna start making maps but after watching this vid idk what to do now ps(u kept ur shit real, I like it )
Do what you want no matter if you think it's too "different". Stealing and never works out in the long-run and usually doesn't work at all. (always keep'n it real)
I agree with multiple things in the video. One argument I have though is that UEFN didn't cause these maps to get "popular". But rather the way discover handles the map showcase process.
Thanks, and apologies. I just think it’s how Epic pushed UEFN maps meaning they automatically got popular because people think they’re high quality.
Yup!
Unfortunately Im going through a bit of a process similar to this where I’ve been a creator for almost three years now and not a single map I have made has hit 1000 plays on it and then I see this junk with 20 thousand people playing and I think, hmm 🤔

I'm not surprised the entire Fortnite community just uses UEFN for low effort repetitive meme maps
What are the similarities?:
- Both have awful recommend tabs that only push the more popular games to the top (typically when I play Roblox I play games with less players active)
- both have very young fan-bases that the people making these maps can exploit to profit off
- They are both given too much ‘free assets’ and the majority of games use it to avoid extra work
Both are amazing platforms but both have big flaws with their systems.
UEFN Creators when discovering Sketchlab (they will base their entire game on it's free models):

I love the tycoons.
That’s fine!

yea it’s a shame, don’t really know how you solve this though from fortnite’s perspective. I happen to also be a map maker who’s gone through this exact process. I mean shit, I wanna make money and no one gives a shit about actual creativity, so why not just pump out red vs blue garbage?
Fortnite can do more quality control and actually enforce their creator rules better for starters.
Quality control could be:
- checking thumbnails for oversaturated colors, clickbait, AI, non-related/misleading content
- a dedicated team for reviewing maps with high traffic in short amounts of time after being published or being reported
- listening & responding to player reports (email, Twitter mention, in-game) about maps
- preventing the use of UEFN solely to appear higher in Discovery ("New in UEFN" tab is pretty high up) / to create islands mostly made up of free use models from third-party site like Sketchfab
I can go on.
