This sort of artwork makes me think of the possibility of human space colonization, and how if we do make it to the stars in such a way to make a galactic empire, ship builders could just look back at concept art from today and just use those ideas as inspiration too.

All aerospace vehicles have certain equipment access hatches and ports that get an extra ordinary amount of use due to regular service actions or high fail parts. They tend to be extra rough around the edges from being man handled and have grime from hands and feet prints around them and leading up to them from people walking across the ship.
Try it! Weathering is a ton of fun. It also lets you be a little less precise with your paintjob, because you can "hide the crimes," as Adam Savage puts it.
In the future try to apply a base coat of pink before applying your yellows and oranges. Pink makes for the best yellow [and orange]. Good stuff though. You got my sub, dude 👍

Adam Savage has some very cool videos on getting started on scratchbuilding spaceships that I highly recommend, they’re what originally inspired me to get into it. As for other skills, there’s all kinds of other channels out there. I’d say Boylei hobby time, Cut Transform Glue, and Night Shift scale models are my biggest inspirations for a lot of the other techniques I’ve picked up.
What primer do you use? Haven't you ever found problems of paint not sticking well to non-PVC plastics (from "trash" pieces like the caps, the exterior of garden wire, or whatever else that can be regarded as "junk")? Also, do you have some recommended cheap model kits to nab bits from? Revell kits prices in my area are a bit random on the price-value side of things >.> I friggin love your channel and projects. Bless the day I found you on Reddit. You deserve much more subs.
I use acrylic primer from Vallejo. It does cause issues sometimes on the trashbashed parts, but as long as I don't stick masking tape to those parts they tend to survive long enough to get a topcoat. As for acquiring kits, I get most of mine from a little local shop that has all sorts of weird old kits, so I can't really help you there. Model tanks and artillery guns tend to have the best bits though, imo. Thanks tho! I'm glad you like my stuff.

@@Blazinter Then you can find preowned kits online. Tanks have a lot of interesting little bits. Even the larger parts will give you louvres and other good details. Star Wars early film productions had piles of armor kits to pick interesting parts from.

For all of those who wanted to see tiny aliens, model are not tiny species of spaceship. They are no different than the large versions, they are just frequently pruned like this to be kept small. If it did have aliens, it would be a tiny ship with big aliens. I wish truly tiny aliens existed, that would be a adorable
@@Sublight_Drive Tip: to avoid "Modeler's Lung", use that stuff in a well ventilated area. At least turn on a fan and crack a window. If that isn't feasible, have your paint booth running nearby while gluing.
You will notice he used some kit parts to build up the underside of the ship as well as most of the greeblies. Technically you could call this scratch-bashing as he built the main body out of sheet styrene, while using bits from some tank kits as well as "found" parts out of the recyclimg bin. Had he used found plastics for the ship body, then you could call it trash-bashing, butbi dislike that term personally.

Go to model shows, (ask your hobby shop or IPMS) there’s usually a good selection of second hand kits for a fraction of the retail price.

I use the Affinity suite to do all my templating and photo editing and etc. - the one you see in the video is Affinity Designer.
