- This song was originally going to be used in Disney's The Little Mermaid, but it was removed from the final film. All rights to this song belong to Disney.
I’m disabled and can’t walk (I use a wheelchair) and I think this would be a beautiful song for the first dance at my wedding, if I ever have one.

This song was never written for The Little Mermaid. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken wrote the songs (Ashman did the lyrics and Menken did the music) One Dance wasr written by by Chris Martin for the CD "Ariel and Friends."
I think this song is kind of sad because Ariel can't tell Eric what she feels.
pinkflower7783 yeah it sounds like this was a song when she became human but, unfortunately when she became human she also lost her voice and that's why maybe they delet this song so sad..this is a beautiful song a masterpiece
They can add this on the live action like a background song with ariel and eric moments like how they build that relationship and the struggle of Ariel expressing herself with losing her voice hahaha

Edit: My mistake. This song was never written for the 1989 classic. Heck, it came out after the sequel.

This song is really interesting. "Part of Your World" is lovely, but being a HUGE fan of "Little Shop of Horrors," it almost reminds me too much of "Somewhere That's Green" from that musical. This song is at least distinct from being another "I want" song with a similar melody.
What I really like about this song though is how it ties into the Broadway show of TLM, which I haven't seen but REALLY want to. Instead of being hypnotized into marrying Ursula, Erik tries to find the woman who saved his life by holding a singing contest, but is unimpressed by the singers and still wants Ariel. So, she shows up at the contest and dances for him, as he taught her to do in the two days prior when she was mute. Suddenly this song fits way more into that version, doesn't it?
I love that idea but I just wanted to tell you Eric is spelled with a c not a k, not hating I just wanted to let you know ^u^

This is such a beautiful song. I wish they had've kept it. However I do understand their reasons for cutting it. I actually got the opportunity to meet Jodi Benson and sing with her (with a group of others) and she performed this song for us and honestly, it's even more beautiful live. I was wondering if you could do an instrumental/karaoke version of this song? If not, would you happen to know where I could find one? Thank you!
It is a beautiful song! And how cool that you got to hear her sing it live! :D I would do a karaoke version of this video, but I'd have to find an instrumental version of the song first, since I'm not very good at editing audio myself. But if I find one I'll look into it.
Daphne Lee i also had the pleasure to meet Jodi Benson at a Comic Con in Florida few days ago. There are no words to describe how amazing she is!, she was kind , sweet and ask me about me .We film a video on my phone and she started singing part of your world in the recording. Which i was not expecting. I swear i have replay that video at least a 1000 times already . And it still feels like a new video!! THAT is probably one of the best moments in my life

Storyboarding isn't so hard to pick up (imho). Watch your favorite movies and for every shot of your favorite scene, draw a sketch of what you see onscreen. You'll start to feel the "language" of the camera. You can also draw from comic book pages.
Also, sketch characters moving ALL THE TIME. Even if the drawings suck, you get a feel for drawing quick.

This is a lovely song, but it was never deleted from the original movie - it's from the Ariel and Friends CD. There's a lot of confusion around it though so don't worry, I thought it was a deleted song too!

Disney animated an entire deleted song for Beauty and Beast’s anniversary. I don’t see why they can’t just put this over the scene of Eric and Ariel walking through town.

And to think that Chris Martin, thats Coldplay’s Chris Martin wrote this rather beautifully written song, Who knew he’d be a huge Disney fan

I think this should’ve been used on Broadway, and maybe used toward the ending, this helps get her feelings across to Eric because the whole show he pretty much doesn’t actually know how she feels about him. And More like translating the dance she did in the competition for Eric.
I first heard this song as a little girl on a Disney song CD that I would listen to every night to fall asleep (and hope I fell asleep before the next song came on because it was about crocodiles and that scared me to death). Years later I finally go and look it up. Good to know I didn't even imagine it :D
This kind of reminds me of Frozen in that it's very pretty, but not very powerful. I feel like Part of Your World really spoke to Ariel's yearning. We would have a very different world if this were the song they went with, that's for sure.
I don't think they were planning to use this song instead of part of your world but rather, use both. The reason for not using this had more to do with them worrying that the children wouldn't get that this song was inside her head as it takes place after she gets her legs and losses her voice. They thought it would be too confusing for the children.

That implies Ariel is still a Mermaid which means if this song were unchanged, she would sing it by the Eric statue before Triton destroys everything. Also, this song was made in 2006. This was never made for the movie despite rumors.

It was deleted because they felt that it would confuse children. They thought they wouldn't understand that it was sung in her head because she had no voice. It sure would have confused me. I'm even confused by the song "If Only" from the Broadway version, because of this very reason, lol

This can't be for two moments. This was literally suppose to replace Part of Your World. Like when Ariel sings "Leave the sea for the sand just to dance with you" it's obvious she hasn't even turned human yet. She sees Eric after she saves him from the shipwreck then imagines herself dancing with him afterwards. It's clearly saying she WANTS to become human for Eric in this song.

it was supposed to be between "poor unfortunate souls" and "kiss the girl" as a way of showing what ariel was thinking during her day with eric.
