Seriously, these girls today that call themselves " country music singers" can't carry a tune in bucket compared to Ms.Barbara Fairchild. She didn't give up on music!! She just knew what was coming down the road. Truly an inspiration & amazing singer.
I have always been a fan of Barbara and especially this song. I remember my Aunt singing it as I was growing up. In 2014 I went to Branson with my Mom and we saw one of Barbara’s shows. After the show, Barbara came out to the lobby to meet with everyone. We were close to the last ones to talk with her. As my Mom was taking my picture with Barbara, I mentioned to her how much I loved this song and about my Aunt singing it. What happened next shows the kind heart that Barbara has....I asked her if I could sing harmony with her on a couple of lines right there in the lobby. With her saying “ why sure “....... we sang a few lines with my Mom videoing it. That is something I will remember for all my years to come. Thank you Barbara for taking time out of your day to do that for me and for being the wonderful person that you are.
I also had the same idea when I met Diamond Rio, but I never got to ask them, as I thought I shouldn't. Another time once, while taking a stage tour of the Grande Ole Opry, as Reba's band was practicing, it took everything I had not to grab that empty microphone and fill in for a few lines of singing her song How Blue. Wouldn't that have thrown me outta the Oprey! I lost my nerve and decided not to but it would've made for a great conversation years later!
I am so glad you put a comment in, I enjoyed so much. Yes " The Teddy Bear Song " was sang by Barbara in a challenging park of her life. She over-came and seemed to pull through. I knew her and her Mom and Dad in the late 60's, she was just as gracious and beautiful when you met her.
Touching video! Children so often get caught in the middle, and suffer because of it; while not understanding any of it! I'm 64 years old and have always loved this song, but it's the first time I've seen this video! Made me shed a tear!
Meeting Barbara in Branson in the early 90s, was very rewarding especially going to her services at the Glen Campbell theater. She actually took time out to call me and offer advice about a Christian life. Aloha hau'loi
I fell in love with a beautiful woman, then found out she was married. This song came to mind and it brought me to my knees in tears when I heard it. Imagine the pain that someone went thru to write this song. I feel your pain deep in my soul. I love you soooooo much Misty Nichole! I'll be your teddy bear just so you can hold me every night!
I met Barbara at a Greenville, Kentucky country show. She wouldn't remember me from Job. But that night the comic that worked with Porter Wagner was also on the bill. It was a great show for being out in the middle of nowhere...
My mother used to sing this to me as a child she has been gone thirteen years now i can still hear her voice singing to me i love you my mother i miss so very much i will see you again some day
I use to Sing this song back in the late '70s on stage, with the band. When my Mom was a bartender at the V.F.W. in Joliet Il. It has taken me over 40 years to find this song again. I still remember the words, I was about this little girl's age. Just about the same time, my parents were getting a Divorce. I was with my dad at the time also. I never thought this song was a reflection of my life then either.
It's not the age, it's the mileage. This song brought back a lot of sad memories of when I was a child, but didn't have a chance to be a child. I felt like I was born 35 years old. My childhood was robbed from me by a bunch of selfish thieves.
In remembrance of the late Don Earl who wrote this song with Nick Nixon. Don was a St. Louis Police Officer who love country. I had the pleasure of reading this song before it became famous. Don handed me a paper to read and I said I thought it was a winner and it was. God Bless you Don. Keep writing those songs in Heaven. Joan L.O.
There's no country channel or radio station I know of in England. Music like this is much better than modern crap. Thanks to all who post decent stuff like this!
I was born 3 months too early and when my Daddy would try to put me to sleep in would cry and cry. He said that this song sung by Barbara Fairchild came out in the same year and when I heard it, I immediately quit crying and would go to sleep. He learned this song just to sing it to me. I still love it
This was the first "concert" I ever went to as a child. She was singing at a rodeo. And this song was my absolute favorite! Miss those days! Brings back sweet memories!
Saw this on Larry's Country Diner! Awesome as ever, Ms. Fairchild! You look and sound the way you did 30 years ago! BEAUTIFUL! **My all-time fave song** God bless you!
i was in the audience at the taping of "Larry's Country Diner" when this was first aired, Barbara was there and gave a great performance, she is truly amazing and a great performer.
I remember hearing this song as a little girl and how happy it made me feel to see how much my dad really enjoyed listening to it as well. 😃Ah the good old days. 🌈 RIP Dad, I hope you know how much you are missed and loved ❤️
I use to hear this song on WWL New Orleans while flying the mail in a Beech 18 for the Post Office, just loved it. Had a pilot friend that I flew with in Viet Nam and would go to his Ranch in Mean, Arkansas to visit. We would play music and his 14 year old daughter would sing this song it was always a treat. I MISS YOU PAPPY!!!
This song is my most all time no 1 favourite along with dwight I sang dixie. Lyrics of this song is high quality. But most under estimated song. she sing so well. Those who doesn't love this song is having wooden heart
Sir, as much as i wish the same as you, the one's in power in Nashville, TN wont let it happen, from there point of view, it's the money, not the music, it's SAD, but we do have TH-cam thankfully, to the greats, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, Connie Smith, Buck Owens, Jim Reeves, Lynn Anderson, and many others from the past, may they be on TH-cam FOREVER
I have downloaded some of my favorite Barbara Fairchild songs. This is her biggest hit and I think her best. So kick back and relax and listen along with me. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. Thank you Barbara.........
My x husband worked for Barbara's uncle , Mr Penny , when I first saw him. She is from Nobol Arkansas where my brother lived and his kids went to school . I love her!!
Used to have my dad request this song in Canadian Texas in the 70's, I don't remember the ladies name who same it in the club where I saw it, but if it was Barbara, I have love that song ever since, and haven't heard it since I was 4-6 years old. The place was the Sage Brush Club, it was my favorite song then :)
I have loved this song since I was a little girl. When I was 6 years old my father and his best friend were on a motorcycle and were hit by a drunk driver. I was in the car in front and saw the whole accident. My fathers friend wasn't hurt but my father almost died. He was in the hospital for 6 months. While he was there I wasn't allowed to visit due to my age. My mother slipped me into see him one day. One of the men in the room with him was playing a radio. The Teddy Bear song by Donna Fargo came on. When it was over the radio station announced a contest. You had to say in 500 words or less why you wanted to be a teddy bear. They asked me why did I want to be a teddy bear. I said so I could stay in the hospital with my daddy. He wrote it down along with the reason I wanted to stay. I won 3rd place. I was taken into a HUGE storage room filled with bears and told to take my pick. Lol I chose the biggest purple bear I could find. It was bigger than me. I also won $50. This song even before then has held a special place in my heart.
Doing abit of research on a Country Comp tape came across this Song.Had to research it and thought it sounded so like Dolly but it wasnt.Cool song Barbara slick and style we had Teddy Bears all around the place in 2021 with first strike of Corona and Lockdown they put around so when u in a bubble and walk when u did u saw them display in front of Windows cool concept

Has anyone heard of a song by Barbara that has a line --- " And Jesus will I be alright at 25 ? " I'm sure it's Barbara but I may be wrong. I'm trying to find the song but I do not know the name of it. Any help would be appreciated.
I wish I had never got married, had kids, became a meal ticket... I wish I had never fallen in love with my muse, I can't get... I wish I had never had to live threw 2 divorces... I wish I had never touched a female.. I wrote predivorce paranoia for the serial cheater, Plymouth county courthouse for the crazy alcoholic.... On you tube... My songs are my Teddy bear...
I love this old time country music. It's much better than this goofy modern junk they sing. I'm an old man living in a young body I guess. I don't like the new stuff. This old time country works for me!
Yeah first time I’ve seen the video it’s interesting because it was my dads favorite song and the memories I have of him are when he was hitting my mother, he died when I was 5 and I spent the next 8 years of my life being a physical and emotional punching bag to my older brother and sister. Stupid idea that handing out a teddy bear would fix anything. In those situations god isn’t there either sad part is I remember listening to this on my moms 45 and wishing it would come true so I didn’t have to feel the pain anymore. I don’t know why I looked this up today but it sure still fucks me up emotionally hearing it
My prayer to God is to please turn the air waves back over to people like Barbara so we can hear "Our Country Music" on the radio...!
This was in my mom and dads era. So many times I have searched for this song.

Anyone is better than Taylor Swift. I never liked Taylor Swift's even when she was singing country music.
