This is one of Magnum's best songs live ever. The keyboards are amazing. It sad that Tony Clarkin is not with us anymore. There hasn't been a more elegante plus sensitve band than Magnum and duo thank Tony and Bob. Forever in my heart Magnum. Love from a fan of Lima - Perú.
I like Magnum very much and this song is very beautiful. Why are they so unbelievable underestimated and underrated? Magnum:Sacred Hour All of my dreams that fell through And had tasted so sour Take second place in my mind For this one sacred hour Still I've been moved for so long By this strange fascination Here, as I stand all alone In complete concentration Face through the clouds and the gods Shine with awe splendour Rise up and roar, they approve Will they always remember? I hear the voice of the crowd It will last forever Locked in my heart, kept away Like a stolen treasure I can hear them calling Hear the crowd applauding If it's real I like the feeling If I'm wrong who am I deceiving? Night after night it repeats An exciting romance Shared by us all, though we met By a fleeting half chance Caught trapped in time, no escape From this powerful dream world Pleased though I am to be here I am lost in the real world I can hear them calling Hear the crowd applauding If it's real I like the feeling If I'm wrong who am I deceiving? All of my dreams that fell through And had tasted so sour Take second place in my mind For this one sacred hour Still I've been moved for so long By this strange fascination Here, as I stand all alone In complete concentration I can hear them calling Hear the crowd applauding If it's real I like the feeling If I'm wrong who am I deceiving? I can hear them calling Hear the crowd applauding If it's real I like the feeling If I'm wrong who am I deceiving? In this one sacred hour
They were about to break America at the height of their popularity, but one of them was ill, and they refused a replacement......the same opportunity never came again.
Their music was slightly out of step with the times ... basically their style/themes/proggy feel missed the boat by about 6 years when they started & they continued to plough that furrow when Punk & NWOBHM was around them ... personally I saw them twice in the very early 1980's & loved them & what they did ... despite being good musicians & songwriters (Clarkin) they were probably always going to be niche in that era ...
WHen you see all those pianos in the video, if this was any other band you'd think "there's no way he uses 1/2 of them". But since this is Magnum you know that 100% of them are used for each microsecond of every song!
+Joakim Johansson Dimmus keyboardist at the time copied the intro to Alt Lys Svunnet Hen, And they fired him for it. That's why the piano is missing from the 2005 remake of Stormblast.
most videos i upload are dimmu borgir videos of course because i like posting videos that are quite rare on youtube. but when it comes to non-mainstream BM bands, here are my vavourite bands (yes some are mainstream, but some sure not) : Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Emperor, Satyricon, 1349, Naglfar, Endstille, Trollech, Astarte, Carpathian Forest, Burzum, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy. im sure not the dimmu borgir metal kiddie you would expect and i dont "worship" dimmu borgir.
The keyboardist of Dimmu Borgir actually ripped it right off. This song was written in 1982 over a decade before Dimmu Borgir started making music. Not to mention Magnum's keyboardist plays it alot better.
~~ to all this hate that I'm reading, I'd rather see it that Dimmu re-used this tune because they were so impressed with Magnum's version! In so doing, we can have all of you blokes tracking it to Magnum and those ppes like myself who have never heard of Magnum are made aware. - yay
wow, thats some interesting news. but i wonder why can mustis play his stuff so good when he isnt in dimmu borgir actually in 1997 ? did dimmu borgir let him practice stuff because they didnt trust stian to come anyway or why did he know how to play the songs?
yes they played it until 1998, the reason he was kicked out was not that he stole "alt lys er svunnet hen", but sorgens kammer, and maybe even mourning palace, but thats just rumour. when it comes to the "real" BM you are talking about, so i consider dimmu borgir from 1994-1999 as "real" melodic black metal, just like satyricon and emperor. im sure not a "die hard" dimmu borgir fan, because i really kriticise them in many points, and apart from that also listening to immortal and maybe 10 other
He didn't completely rip it off. There are some differences, but credit where credit's due. I love Stian aarstad but yeah he definetly copied this one pretty close, though not exact.
watch my videos, most videos i postet only exist 1-2 times on youtube. well and endstille is more mainstream than 1349, trollech, astarte, emperor and satyricon. here in germany at least, everyone who knows dimmu and immortal also knows endstille
"Trollech is a joke, haha, they're new Immortal - who are also much of a joke to the rest of the scene." I forget, when was it that your opinions began to be considered facts?
lol, do you realy count Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth as BM?! Arch Enemy is Death Metal (Well, some sort of Melodic Death Metal) and Amon Amarth is kind of Viking, but both are not BM

Fantastic band, even after 50 years in music business!!
Led by Bob Catley 🎤and Tony Clarkin 🎸
🎼🤘🏻❤🇬🇧🙏🏻👌🏻👌🏻🎼
I'm in love with this version of the song... it's simply magnificent
This song is amazing. It sounds like a boss theme out of an RPG. Way ahead of its time.
I like Magnum very much
and this song is very beautiful. Why are they so unbelievable underestimated
and underrated?

Never heard of this group and don't listen to 80's rock that much but I must say this intro is epic
i seen them twice on the wings of heaven tour really epic....band
What a great band. I can never understand why they weren't bigger.
Weak management I guess
Their music was slightly out of step with the times ... basically their style/themes/proggy feel missed the boat by about 6 years when they started & they continued to plough that furrow when Punk & NWOBHM was around them ... personally I saw them twice in the very early 1980's & loved them & what they did ... despite being good musicians & songwriters (Clarkin) they were probably always going to be niche in that era ...
Esos son grupos de verdad lastima tan pocos like
Purely the best concert and band ever
Not usually something I'd listen to but this song never gets skipped on my ipod, and is quite often replayed!
Oh my gosh! That's amazing! I will always and forever admire these guys for being able to do such magical songs, and playing them this good aswell.
This live version sounds classsss! Hopefully i'll get to see them for the 1st time this year !!!!!!!!!!!!
...Ti zvuci kao da dolaze iz beskraja svemira...Slušam ih od 1988. sa jednakim žarom...
I cannot believe Dimmu is still being mentioned. just enjoy what is most probably the best song you have heard today!
WHen you see all those pianos in the video, if this was any other band you'd think "there's no way he uses 1/2 of them". But since this is Magnum you know that 100% of them are used for each microsecond of every song!
World Class band
directly to the soul
MAGNUM-AWESOME-TRUE!
IMPRESIONANTE -->10
they rule so underated !
wow what a band....
@SirSIither
Mo wrote this ?
great band
class they RULE !!
Can´t be a rippoff from Dimmu Borgir. Sacred hour is from 1982 when the singer in Dimmu Borgir where 5 years old...
+Joakim Johansson Dimmus keyboardist at the time copied the intro to Alt Lys Svunnet Hen, And they fired him for it. That's why the piano is missing from the 2005 remake of Stormblast.
I love the guitarrist *.*
Sacred Band! \m/
Thats one mean beard there.

HAIL
@Smartuur
I don't think you quite understood what he meant
~~ to all this hate that I'm reading, I'd rather see it that Dimmu re-used this tune because they were so impressed with Magnum's version! In so doing, we can have all of you blokes tracking it to Magnum and those ppes like myself who have never heard of Magnum are made aware. - yay

true shut up about dimmu this is for real true metal:)
Check out Bob Catley's solo stuff, the song Children of the Circle is Amazing.
magnum are so underated and dimnu so overated great song by a great band still delivering
i know it was just a summary of what i listen to and its mostly BM, with of course some DM
@jojje888 i'm trying to be ironic. I'm spanish maybe I didn't explain well
@novadikaya As it's obvious they thought in google when they create the band and put that name to it.
yes they played it until 1998, the reason he was kicked out was not that he stole "alt lys er svunnet hen", but sorgens kammer, and maybe even mourning palace, but thats just rumour. when it comes to the "real" BM you are talking about, so i consider dimmu borgir from 1994-1999 as "real" melodic black metal, just like satyricon and emperor. im sure not a "die hard" dimmu borgir fan, because i really kriticise them in many points, and apart from that also listening to immortal and maybe 10 other
you're right not exactly copied. However, this one is way better than alt lyn svunnet es hen (all light has vanished?).
He didn't completely rip it off. There are some differences, but credit where credit's due. I love Stian aarstad but yeah he definetly copied this one pretty close, though not exact.
wut in a departur in solitude and this sound same???????
watch my videos, most videos i postet only exist 1-2 times on youtube. well and endstille is more mainstream than 1349, trollech, astarte, emperor and satyricon. here in germany at least, everyone who knows dimmu and immortal also knows endstille
There is no perfection alright!... But you have to admit, this is damn close ;)
dont say dimmu, it was the keyboarder, they kicked him out for doing such shit and other stuff with out telling the band its a ripoff
...wow...i'm a HUGE dimmu fan but...damn...it pains me to say this but they fuckin stole that WHOLE thing...didn't even take it up a key or anything
how did Charlie Daniels get in there?
"Trollech is a joke, haha, they're new Immortal - who are also much of a joke to the rest of the scene."
I forget, when was it that your opinions began to be considered facts?
@jojje888 lol
How can that possibly be a fact? It's your opinion, and the opinion of many others, but popularity does not establish truth.
lol, do you realy count Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth as BM?! Arch Enemy is Death Metal (Well, some sort of Melodic Death Metal) and Amon Amarth is kind of Viking, but both are not BM
dokladnie, kiedy samo dimmu o tym nie wpomnialo w zakldakach. w ogle to plagiatorzy : sorgens kammer to utwor z jakiejs tam gry na amige :|
I'd have to disagree, dimmu didn't even pull it off as well.
So it's almost pure theft... haha.
uninspired songwriting? Ouch. Check your facts...
