How do you ensure the mulch hole is directly against the drip line hole?

Can plastic mulch be used without installing drip irrigation? If so then how will the rain water get in to the plant roots since the plastic does not allow water to sip through in to the plants root zone?

Rain water can still enter through the planting hole or through the infiltration on both sides of the raised bed, where the drainage canal or path is located.

How do you irrigate this if have a big land ? Drip system is very expensive in our area . Can we water by flooding the in between channels ?

Furrow irrigation (flooding in between) is also an option if it is the most available method in the area. However, it is not the most efficient irrigation method and climate-smart technique, especially if there is water scarcity in the area. Another factor to consider with the furrow method is if there are incidences of soil-borne diseases like bacterial wilt - as water flow can easily carry the pathogen from one infected area to the other. Initial investment for the drip system is indeed an issue - but if it is possible to try in a smaller area first and compare the cost and return of both irrigation systems (furrow and drip) and weigh in the pros and cons together with crop yield assessment, this can help you decide what works best in your farm.
