I just want everyone to know that it is VERY HARD to sing Tenor, he does sound "weak" but he really isn't. The fact that he doesn't need to be close to the mic so you can hear him says a lot, he is singing in falsetto, Im a barbershopper and I'm classically trained and its very hard for me to do. So dont say he is the "weakest" cuz he really isnt, none of them are! thats why they are known as one of the greatest quartets EVER!!
whoa, sometimes there are songs that just get you in the gut and this one was it for me. These guys were so good together. I like them all but man for me, Joe is the man, what a gift to the gods of barbershop.
Until I checked a transcription, I legitimately thought that Roger was singing an octave above Don on the second sky chord in the tag, but it turns out it's a massive overtone. What a great quartet, Connelly at his best.
One of my favorite songs from Keepsake. They were rushing this a bit. The normal recording is over 4 minutes and that last note is held for 30 seconds. Here it was only for 22. The chords are so ear pleasingly sick and that second last chord when the tenor goes up to the 2nd above the posted note...heaven. I always knew it was Tony on that high note. I got in a big argument about it years ago because the other person swore on their mother's grave that it was the Tenor this time, even though Tony posts the high notes on most of the other songs. Ha! Vindication!!
1:55 to 2:09 is some of the best barbershop singing I've ever heard. It has such a great build-up and bass-bari lock, and it's probably the best example of Joe on lead. So much power and command. This is one of my favorite songs as well :)
Well, I think they are all good but yes, the tenor is the weakest singer of them all, that is for certain. The main thing is that he does blend well with them. His voice just isn't as strong as the other three. But look at the talent there. You have Tony and Joe who have some of the most powerful vocals out there. The bass is no slacker either.

Those are actually gold medals not silver. This was taken at an afterglow for a chorus who had them as their headliner.
I do agree on Joe Ownage, but how about Tony, the ending post is phenominal despite the one crack that is an impressive note.

It's an undertone that happened there. It's the only place that the baritone actually sang under the bass note.
