JW, once again you have shown us an example of the monkeys never fretting or depressed about their disabilities or what we would perceive as handicaps. They instead just adjust and merrily get on with living normal lives. It’s so amazing and has given me a new attitude about my upcoming surgery that will keep my dominant arm in a sling for 6 months and only able to use my fingers to write or type . Now I will see it as an opportunity be happy and adapt like our Rhesus Monkey friends do. No fretting or complaining is required! :)

Sadly, this level of edema is usually caused by serious medical conditions like infection, heart disease, cancer or parasites, but in rare occasions it can be caused by genetic defect. This video covers nearly two months and shows a considerable progression, smetimes nature can be so cruel, my heart breaks for him, I pray that he isn't suffering too much.

Source- I've got FSGS kidney disease. During flares I'll end up swollen like the Pillsbury dough boy. My feet and hands get so swollen they look like blown up latex gloves. My face looks bee stung. The worst part is literally leaking fluid. I'd get daily shots of blood thinners in my belly that would leak fluid like tears. If you press on the swollen limbs it hold the shape like play dough. It's called pitting edema.
Wonder if it's due to issues with lymphatic drainage? Something you're born with. They can often present in adolescence alongside puberty. It progressively gets worse, but isn't fatal to my knowledge.
This is so sad excruciating as well to see an adorable yearling suffering from swollen limbs, very difficult for him to climb, hope he will recover from this issue of swollen limbs.
Both feet and left arm are horribly enlarged, perhaps lymphedema? Could it be an electrical injury, are there power lines or other electrical sources in the area? The right hand appears to be injured as well, in the beginning it seemed to be guarding the right hand like it was more painful than the swelled up one. Or maybe it has eaten something toxic, or come in contact with something poisonous? Very unusual indeed. It also appears to be of lower rank, it’s skittish when eating looking around while eating quickly before anyone else notices or approaches. It is chased off or challenged frequently by other members. Indications that this is a low ranking member Also at 14:46 there is another monkey with an amputated lower arm/hand. And at 16:04 this one appears to have a deformation of the spine
Might it not be, instead of edema, but dwarfism? That might be a full grown male with full grown testes and limbs, but a dwarfism-affected arm, torso and face??
How bizarre. You can see a couple of holes in his skin right below where his inner elbow would be. I’d say maybe an allergic reaction but he’s had it for over a month it seems! He also seems to be able to use his fingers on that hand, which is promising. Edit; Rewatching the video it seems like he got the holes in June but they weren’t there in May which is not a good sign.
Poor boy 😔 I hope he's able to endure and survive...just a wild guess, could he been bitten by a venomous insect or animal? His other limb is ok and he doesn't show any sign of pain.. thanks JW for sharing this👌🐵
The poor monkey, he does not seem to be in pain at the moment, but I wonder about when he gets older. Is there nothing to be done to help him? Three of his limbs seem to be affected. Will we have a follow up on him if you run into him again.

I watch this channel because for years it was peaceful. Family's. A little of this and a little of that family drama of course. Because that's all part of families. But lately it's getting to be horrible stuff after horrible stuff. You aren't the cause but why do we need to keep having so bad stuff. I so much enjoyed it without all of this stuff I only watch 4 channels because the rest are VO's hurting them. I'm starting to get to be a little wary. Here now. I will keep watching to see if it goes back the way it was. These shows were such a good way to end the day.

It is sad to see monkeys with illnesses and deformities just trying to survive as best they can with no medical care. I wonder why one arm doesn't have the edema. It is good to see he can get around well but I worry about his future.
Can someone explain what is wrong with him, will it stop at some point, can he get better naturally, they can heal sometimes amazingly, who is going on with our furry friend.
Hi my friend! In humans, lymphedema can have different causes, and I guess the cause would determine the outcome. Unless treated pretty aggressively, it doesn't usually go away on its own. It can be caused by cancer, or tumors blocking the drainage system or like JW said, Parasites.

Damn..swollen is an understatement. He only has one limb that is normal size definitely lymphedema or some type of allergic reaction, maybe elephantiasis.

Maybe a local Veterinarian would know if you could get some type of allergy medication like Benadryl, or some kind of antihistamine for him and put about maybe about an eighth of a benadryl pill in a banana? For him. But that's why I said to ask a Veterinarian about how much you could give him... Our little Blue Healer pup got into a wasps nest and her poor little nose was so swollen it about forced her eyes shut it was horrible 💔 The vet gave her a shot of something like benadryl and then told us to give her a fourth of a pill the next day after we did that and the swelling was almost completely gone... That's what it looks like to me is some sort of allergy. Poor baby I pray 🙏 that's all that it is. And he gets feeling better soon.💔🙏🐒💔🙏

Have any feeders offered the little guy pumpkin daily? It can help with the inflammation, possible parasites, and excretion of the excess fluids. Macaques do not show pain by nature out of fear of showing weakness. Unfortunately, many times we do not know what is wrong until it’s too late. The exception was Skull Head in his final weeks. But please try feeding him pumpkin and the seeds to help him at least a little since they cannot see vets there.

It’s like the bigger monkey has an infection also. I wonder if it’s gonna spread through lots of them. Kinda scary . I also sometimes wonder all the goodies people give them can be making them sick. It does change things . All the preservatives they are given . It’s just not good.
Does he belong in a troop/families? Would they just abandon him? He doesn’t seem to have anyone who knows him. I know it’s best to let nature take it course and not intervene, but it is difficult to watch the poor little guy.

Looks like a fractured wrist. That's how my wrist was when I broke it as a child.
looks like gigantism. abnormal growth hormones saturate , causing swelling of hands, feet, and sometimes genitals.

Don't think so. He does have a LARGE "mudflap" but his gonads haven't dropped yet. He is still a juvenile.
No! Dwarfism doesn't progress, and does not affect 3/4 limbs.
