International cricket is hardly popular in much countries, the only most popular cricket League is IPL and that too only in the massive India, infact most of the cricket's popularity comes from the mighty India. The umpires are just human, we can't blame them but we need DRS in the BBL for this exact reason
Well. Actually they are responsible and can be blamed. Being an umpire is a *paying job* for them.
For the first one, he just had to hear. For the second one, well,,, that was just ridiculous.
Whatever the reason may be. They should be better.
P.S., there are 3rd umpires in BBL too, so stop making a fuss about it.

If number 3 makes a list of the 3 "worst decisions" in a tournament that's been going 9 years or so, then I'd say the umpiring is in pretty good shape. The second is the only howler.

How the ump gave that second one out is just incredible!! You can also bkalme the fielder and bowler for appealing as well when they KNEW the ball had been hit.

Ye it’s coz they are state level umpires not national. But tbf the fact that there was only 3 decisions shows that there isn’t too many absolute howlers. Some may be wrong but often I give a decision out/not out when watching on tv then on replay I see that I’m wrong and so I can understand it is a hard job

too many gimmick rules and shit, and because they refuse us drs except for run outs its makes for umpiring clangers to have a field day

I do not bag umpires as a rule, BUT I am sorry there have several decisions similar or worse than that of Marsh and Cooper,,,DRS should be implemented into EVERY version of the game it prevents ABSOLUTE howlers such as the Cooper one....Umpires need to be accountable for shit decisions as they could cost a team a World Cup like New Zealand being robbed against England...They get good money to stand there and wave an arm around and put a finger up....no excuse.
Ye I could understand the odd wrong decision for something like a caught behind down leg side or an lbw which is hitting but given not out/vice versa but we see a lot of wrong decisions, often multiple per match in the bbl and it’s unacceptable. If u compare to for example test cricket, hardly ever the umpires call gets turned over so there is obviously a massive skill difference of the umpires

I'd probably struggle with that last one too. I mean, he's advanced 10m down the pitch by the time it's hit him. If you're giving LBW on a guy that far down the pitch, you'd want to be 1000% correct

1- There were 2 noises in Marsh's case.
2- It was really a bad decision. It looked clearly that the ball had hit the bat.
3- Khwaja's case looked in the first glance like it was an inside edge.

Down leg side caught behinds especially off spinners r often very hard to tell but if the umpire has any doubt I believe that they should call not out because a wicket is a very high price to pay, especially if the decision is wrong

This tells you how good umpires were before DRS. Yes there were some umpire mistakes till 2000s but if you take away DRS now umpires will look like jokers.

The first 2 decisions weren't great, however, I thought the reason why Australian pros don't walk when they know they've hit it, is to make the umpire decide... so you shouldn't be complaining if they make the wrong call against you.

Umpiring is not as easy as you think... they have one chance to get it right, loud noises of crowds, screaming players and a very small window to assess the situation...
you have it all, Cameras, slow Mo, TMO and sensors... replays and a seat to sit and relax in while witnessing the whole thing at your own pace...
that is why they have reviews these days, anyone can make mistakes.... yeah, or get paid to make those "mistakes"... it is 2023 and everything has a price tag also
