Lol same people that lived next door to sports stadium or night club area, an got them to either stop or reduce niose times. An some people are stupid fussy like having a vegan living next door to someone who likes to BBQ meat. The back yards are getting to small.
That was one of the first things I thought when watching this. Like who are they to tell you what to do when you where one of the first people in the neighborhood.
She was really honest and humble. I got the feeling that she wasn't blaming people. She seemed hurt but very realistic. I respect her very much. And I loved that she accepted the responsibility and is trying to help others not make the same mistake.
Try being a farmer that's third generation on same ground for 112 years. New neighbors are always advised to what goes on everyday of the year but they complain. I tell THEM TO MOVE if they don't like it. And l tell them stop complaining, a farmer made it possible for you to live. Cidiots are everywhere. Good luck in future. You deserve a great life. I can tell you are a smart and decent person. Farmer John.
I hear you brother ! Have you had the cidiot roll down your driveway and claim the own the view of your farm ? And tell you how they want it to look ? Them folks are special !
My sentiments exactly. You don't like animals, you shouldn't have moved here! We've been having animals for 3 generations on this land, and I don't care what regulations change, I intend for this to continue into the 4th! No idea if my kids will want to continue this, but I can't control that.
I love the cidiots word that is hilarious 😆. I'm from New York City and I'm not a cidiot myself but am well aware of the cidiot attitude. I now live in florida and just got 4 ducks, 4 chickens, and plan to get a pig. Hopefully I don't run into the same situation.
I noticed this video was made 5 years ago. Maybe you will see this, maybe not... My heart goes out to you and your family. When I think of all the work you have done to build the farm.... It's a lot. Sounds like you have had a snooty neighborhood grow up around you while you are trying to do your thing. I gotta hand it to you, You were very respectful of everyone while telling your story. I am sorry this has happened to you. Wishing yall find a much better property and neighbors in the future to live and thrive. Peace.
I first saw your Beginners Guide To Raising BACKYARD CHICKENS and when I came across this video, my heart sank. Neighbors no longer want to approach and talk to one another anymore. It's disgusting how the masses are being conditioned to NOT be self-sufficient and then turn around and turn their noses up to those who do. I'm sure future videos would show your family has since moved on to bigger and better pastures and I will watch them all as a new subscriber.
Your attitude here is so commendable. I doubt many would have checked as far as you did, so not finding such an obscure limitation is unfortunate, but certainly understandable. That you were dealt such an obviously devastating blow to your life and plans, yet never spoke a cross word towards your neighbors, shows such amazing quality in your character. I’ve no doubt y’all will succeed greatly wherever you go. You are an inspiring family. The neighborhood will be lessened for losing you.
I'm so sorry this happened. It's clear you're sad, and I'm sad with you. Kudos to you for making this video with such integrity. You never called anyone names, even though for you it must have been a painful time. you simply stated the facts and you took responsibility for your part. You're inspiring, and I appreciate what you did here. Thank you.
Where we lived in AZ everyone had horses. People started moving into that area and didn’t like the smell so they started to push to rezone the area. These people chose to move into this area fully aware of the horses. They ruined it for the people that have been living in the area for many many years. Most of the complainers came from California.
I’m a Californian that is restricted by these stupid laws and wish to have a homestead. I have to move but I love California as it has always been home.
It's very humble & tremendously mature of you to accept the blame for the situation you found yourselves in, even though it sounds like you did the best you could've done at the time. You're right about the level of noise an unhappy goat can make! I must agree that no one could blame your neighbors for being displeased by that. You seem like a wonderful person and I think that it's a shame that your neighbors were not forthcoming with discussions about a compromise. It's likely that you might've been able to work things out and live in harmony with them if they had been a little more open minded. You had a lot to offer that might have been beneficial to everyone. You're obviously very intelligent, interesting and cooperative people. It's unfortunate that they did not value those things adequately. In light of the damage we've done to our environment and to our own health in general, it seems to me that everyone should see the necessity & the urgency of leading a more organic and sustainable lifestyle. I applaud your vigilance & determination toward that end! I'm sure you will find a property where you can pursue your homestead goals peacefully and enjoy the fruits of your labors.
This video almost brought me to tears! You are so strong and you have learned from your mistakes and shared with all of us so we know what to do. Thank you for sharing with us!!
This broke my heart. I noticed this video is almost 5 years old. I hope you found your perfect homestead and are up to your necks in animals and are loving life.
Wow - I cannot say enough good things about this video! First of all, it is so refreshing (and I think just so badly needed in today's world) is that this Speaker is so open-minded and thoroughly insightful into another person's side of things. She is also articulate and honest. And all the information is pure gold for anyone thinking of starting a homesteading endeavor. AND YES! good luck to you in your future endeavors.
I am amazed at your composure. I only hope that if it were me, I could be as civil as you have been. So proud of you and look forward to great things for you guys!
This is one of the best videos on TH-cam. The humility is extraordinary and the generosity to share is inspiring. We're extremely grateful for your videos
Thank you for your honest and authentic sharing of your situation. You are helping so many people to avoid a similar issue and you did it with stoic class and without demonizing others. BRAVO! That is a great accomplishment in the middle of being disappointed over your situation. Where I live in New Jersey there used to be twelve small farms in our area and most have fallen to Mc Mansion fever or Townhouse blight. The remaining small generational family farms are having the same issues such as ; people now complaining about living down wind of a very small cow pasture, and how your Llamas scare my dog. And my personal favorite " I know your family has been on your farm for 150 years BUT, nobody informed us that a pig farm was nearby when we bought our townhouse. So what are you going to do about the smell and noise, OR ELSE" ... Everyone in these gated communities are used to having an Association to complain to or that controls their world. These new comers are sold a story by the developers of living a farm life without living on a farm. However they seem to leave out that one should understand, appreciate and enjoy farm living before moving in and harassing their farming neighbors with their undereducated expectations . I hope your new situation is so much better and that you can find a way to remove your fencing and reuse at least some of it at your new location. I understand that you did not originally intend to homestead at this location and that your are holding yourself accountable. Again BRAVO! However, it obviously was not an issue 10 years ago covenent or not. You heard your neighbors concerns and addressed them, that makes you a good neighbor not bad homesteaders. I am sorry to hear of yet another responsible small farm having to deal with non-farming neighbors when they were there first. Good Luck and stay strong in your perfect location.
I stumbled on your channel around 11 last night while feeding the baby and ended up watching through until 4am. I absolutely love it. It is pure information, and no bravado about it. I live in a small apartment in FL and we are planning to homestead. and started a garden in a room that gets no natural sun with 2 liters and planter boxes and some UV lights, but you share the experiences as they really are, not glamorized or shiny and bright, and I have learned a great deal, about farming, preserving, and the actual life, and it is very refreshing. Thank you.
I love how humble you guys are. You’re a breath of fresh air. You’re so open with your mistakes and aren’t at all arrogant. I could watch your videos all day. This channel has been so informative and helped me make the decision to be more self reliant.
i'll never understand people who dislike farm animals. we have someone on our road who free ranges chickens and we get at least 1-2 dozen from them when they have excess and can't use them all. and we're right down the road from what i think is an angus beef farm, always love seeing the new babies each year.
That sucks. We bought 12 acres in Texas surrounded by cattle farms. Our nearest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile away. The best way to avoid issues is to avoid humans. Sorry to see this happen!
My heart is broken for you😢you clearly love animals and have a beep love of nature. I wish you love light and enormous abundance in your life going forward. 😍💕
Your integrity and candor is just amazing. I appreciate this post, I am in the planning stages and this is a critical subject area to sort out. Thank you!
That's why I bought where I did. I don't have a show home but I have 7 acres of private land and do whatever I want. All of the land around me is basically farmland and the sound of my neighbors tractor is music to my ears.
Thank you for having the courage to share, and the intelligence and sensitivity to recognize that trying to homestead against the wishes of your community (regardless of who came first) is generally going to be a losing proposition for all concerned. I'm praying that you will quickly find an excellent plot of land, in a community that welcomes and values your presence.
Wow, misery loves company. This made me so sad; I admire your positive attitude and tolerance for people that do these types of things. I have neighbors similar to yours...complained about my fiance doing his live workouts for his community during Covid lockdown, to help people stay active and avoid the depression from creeping in. The workouts were M-F at 9am every morning in our...BACKYARD. He called the HOA on us and I called the police when I saw a man stalking my house, taking photos of our house. Turned out it was a guy from the HOA. We ended up typing up and dropping off a nice letter to all of the surrounding neighbors...and wouldn't you know, NONE of the other people noticed it and thought it was great what he was doing. The man that reported us has people coming at all hours of the night, questionable behavior, yet we have never bothered to report it because it doesn't really impact us. Funny how the miserable people cannot do the same.
It is sad that the world is so unaccepting of those that simply wish to live naturally. I pray you find an amazing place for your homestead, prosperity to rebuild, and the support of many along the way. Blessings to you and your homestead.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I just bought my homestead and have been running through your videos to learn about raising chickens. You are so informed and obviously passionate about your work and I hope to keep learning from you. Please don’t ever let anyone stop you. Jeez, I’d hire you as a consultant!
I totally understand your desire to move closer to like-minded people to carry out your homesteading lifestyle (I would've made the same choice you did), but it also deeply saddens me that we live in a society where growing and raising food is 'unsightly'. I think part of the solution is for those folks to be exposed to families like yours, who can intelligently and passionately explain the value (politically, nutritionally, ethically) in having a hand in feeding yourselves. Society is trending towards further homogenization of neighbourhoods where beliefs in the 'right' way to live become more deeply entrenched. I wonder what it will take to shake up our cultural fear/distrust/disdain of the 'other'? Thanks so much for sharing your story.
Wow! I recently discovered your channel while looking for information on canning. This video was heartbreaking to watch. I appreciate so much your willingness to share your experience. It is clear that your disappointment was complete, and I was so sad to see that you guys had to go through this. it also seems clear from some of your more recent videos that you guys persevered and kept looking forward! That is so awesome, and I am so impressed with your determination! I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos. One of my favorite sayings is that the windshield is bigger than the rear view mirror for a reason. You guys keep it up and I pray for your continued success!
This video brought back a lot of memories. We bought a 46 acre farm in the early 90s. In family for over 100 years. I had chickens rabbits and goats. They had rezoned the property unknown to anyone. On a dirt road no water unless well. Top of a mountain. Had to get rid of all animals. I moved to another state. It is ridiculous that you can't have what you want on your own land.
people decide to build in areas where people have goats , horses , chickens... then complain that their neighbors have goats, horses, and chickens. something similar happened to a couple who were going to raise horses.. new neighbors built adjacent to their property then did as yours did and dug up some ancient record that prohibited it. Unlike your situation , the family who planned on raising horses, bought the property with that intention and invested everything into doing so. In their case , they fought back... did they get their horses? No , they did not , they did however discover there was literally nothing to prohibit them from establishing a hog farm. So the neighbors ended up with a hog farm, which you could smell for miles before you ever arrived to it. The family that owned it, couldn't even tolerate it , and moved into a house up wind of the farm. The neighbors... got stuck they couldn't move because the no one would buy their property.
Hah, love the honking car when you talked about the noise of goats. Funny how people love to blare their horns, run their gas engines, and drown the world with mam made noise but freak if a living creature makes a noise. Sorry for your loss
There were also distant gunshots right after the car horn too. But no animals! That would be too noisy. I can understand a little bit within reason, but talking with your neighbors and working things out, especially if you're the new neighbor, is the better approach. Or, you know, not moving into a neighborhood like that, which as any good property hunter should do, is good research on the area before they purchase property.
I have started watching your channel from the beginning like it's a Netflix show and I just got to this video and my heart just broke for you and your family! All that work, effort and love you put into your projects and animals and some Karen decided to escalate instead of starting with just talking to you and trying to work something out! Uhhhhg I just can't! I know you have videos after this one and I'm def going to continue to watch but ... this video.... all the feels. I just wanted to give you a hug because I could see the pain and holding back the tears. I know this was years ago for you and you probably won't see this comment but as my dad always says "Don't let the bastards get you down."
LESS THAN 3 YEARS AFTER THIS VID WAS MADE AND WE'RE ALL IN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC AND FOOD SHORTAGES AND GLOBAL AGRICULTURAL COLLAPSE IN PROGRESS.....YOU WERE RIGHT AND THOSE PROPERTY VALUE-CONCIOUS NEIGHBOURS WITH THEIR SKEWED VALUES ARE SO VERY MUCH IN THE WRONG. WE ALL NEED TO GROW FOOD....DESPERATELY .......GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU ALL SAFE AND HEALTHY; MUCH LOVE FROM ENGLAND XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you for sharing your heartbreaking news and giving all of us specific examples of what we can do to prevent this from happening to any of us. Bless you.
I moved from the east coast almost 20 yrs ago. To Montana. On the west coast now cuz my hubby died. I know Oh so well what you are talking about. You said it perfectly. And I was impressed how honest you were. Up front. Don’t give up continuing on your journey. You will find the open window. I wish you alotof luck. I’m pulling for you!
It is said the most humbled people make the best leaders and I can definitely see that in you. Thank you for being willing to walk out the process...not many have the grace to do it without bitterness. Beautiful spirit you have.
This is my first time of seeing any of your videos. My heart is breaking for you. Unfortunately it sounds like someone was on a mission to make this happen to you. We had a flood in our home, which was in a subdivision, from a front load washer that turned itself on while we were not home. Nothing was done correctly, mold started to grow inside the walls and the subfloor. Long story short, we decided to start over, find land and build a home. I love the fact that all my neighbors have horses, cows, chickens, etc. I look out the front of my house and there is 700 acres of corn, drive away to go to store or anywhere I pass is all farm land, animals, tractors, people horseback riding, beautiful homes and some not so beautiful and it makes my soul happy! You will find a new place that just feels right. I think you feel the same way as I do about once something so uncomfortable has happened, there's no need to stay, it will never feel right again. Time to move on! It took a year to find our property and when I got out of my Jeep, I knew this was it! I pray all good things come your way!! I wish you the very best of luck!!
We have the same problems here in New Zealand, Townies moving into the country and developers moving in and changing the local landscape and demographics. I had a guy telling me about the problems he was having with his new neighbour. 1st she thought his chickens were cute so encouraged them on to her property by feeding them, next thing she is complaining because they were pooping on her patio. Next she was complaining about the fact he ran a lawn mowing business and she didn’t like the smell of his composting. His solution was to move his composting bins to the boundary fence. She not only got the full on smell of the compost, but the flys too. She sold up and moved back to the city.
Thank you so much for sharing your painful journey with us. My heart goes out to you for all that you had to go through and the hard lessons learned, whether deserved or otherwise. To the extent there is any solace to be found in the midst of your experiences, please know that the lessons you shared so eloquently are, to this day, helping many, many other people. I've no doubt. Thank you again for your courage, being so forthright in sharing your story. You seem like a lovely, trustworthy person. Good luck to you both.
It's been 3 years since but still broke my heart to watch this video, I can feel the sadness in her eyes, animals can have a very special part in people's lives specially watching previous video, there was a lot of dedication and love with those animals. They would be my ideal neighbors, unfortunately most people like to pay big bucks to eat poison from the big stores. I hope you guys have found a beautiful place where you can live your lives the way you deserve, free and independent. God bless and don't give up
Thank you for your humility, something that's not seen much in these times. I've learned from you. God Bless you, I know it is painful to let go of the creatures.
heartbreaking. I dont know how you managed to hold it together towards the end of the video. I can see you struggling as you talk about getting rid of the animals, and even thought you do not appear to be angry or harbor ill will against your neighbors, I can see the hurt. And knowing you were there for years before they built and moved into your area, it saddens me to realize that such a thing can happen. I am going to continue following you and hope for a happier journey for you and your family!
Took both guts and a mountain of sincere humility to make that video! My prayer and belief is that The Lord has the perfect place for your family!! Cant wait to see where it is!!
We moved to a town where you have "the right to farm". I could plant corn in my front yard and have any animal. I'm very grateful now how nice this is.
You are so GRACIOUS in telling this story. Your so hard on yourself. You were doing something good. I'm sorry that people won't let you live on your property in peace. I love your videos. Blessings and positive energy to you and yours.
You have no idea how much this video has opened my eyes to things I never thought of before. It has saved me a lot of potential heartache. We are in a town of about 5,000 we are kinda of on the edge of town at least in our area. Our street is a dead end and then up in what once was a corn field there is about five acres we have an acre and a half and our only neighbor has the rest. There is nothing passed our neighbor just open farm country until the town ends. Behind us there is corn fields until the town picks up again in about 8-10 miles behind then goes maybe half a mile before the town ends and the farming country begins. We started out just wanting a vegetable garden. Recently, I’ve thought about getting a couple of chickens and maybe a goat, egg prices were crazy awhile back, plus I’m a crazy about goat cheese! Our neighbors we have are fine with it. One raises a couple of sheep every year for 4-H and they have a mini horse. They are quiet animals and we don’t care one way or the other. As a matter of fact a neighbor about 10 houses down who is in town with neighbors extremely close in a city block setting has about 2 or so acres and brings his cattle in every couple of months. Not sure why but you drive by and there’s a cow. Pretty cool. Behind us just almost as far as you can see is corn field. Our closest neighbors even being in the “city” do not care what we do. We are all great neighbors we ask before we do anything. However, as in your case there are extremely expensive houses being built out by the country club and it’s about 8 miles away but every time I look outback they keep getting closer. After watching you, we are talking about maybe getting 5 acres just outside of town. After telling my son he is talking about moving to Iowa and putting a little house on the land and caring daily for the animals he can work from home which works out. I’m so grateful to you. Not only have you saved us from what might have been a disaster but our son is considering coming home. God bless you for the info. I’ll let you know what we do. It will be a while as we are not well off and retired. We are learning to be self sufficient and I’m binging on your videos. I’ve never canned meat but I’m about to try roast. Again, thank you. I know I’ve written a book but I’m excited and grateful.
This almost made me cry. I've been through this twice. City ppl moved to my little town, now I can't keep the line of chickens my grandfather left me. I had to sell them all when the council decided we old ppl don't matter. They build houses and don't even have room for a clothesline, but I can't have my chickens? I'm 50. Now I can move, or live their stupid unhealthy sad city way. It's sad. Know what used to fix sad? My chickens. Sorry for the rant. Love your channel xx
I whole heartedly agree with you! I don’t go into the city and tell them to live a certain way. I’ll be damned if there going to move to gods country and tell me how to live. Unfortunately the only way to deal with them without moving are very unorthodox and in most cases illegal which I don’t recommend. However at some point we have to defend what’s ours and our god given rights! Yes GOD GIVEN RIGHTS! No man should determine other mankind’s path. This breaks my heart. She seems so defeated! 😞
You are such a doll. You handled this video with such grace and without bitterness. I had bad neighbors once and lost all grace and sensibility in trying to deal with it, so I truly admire you. It's so unfair that you were there first, but the newbies could move in and force you to change your whole lifestyle, eventually running you off. I just found you and don't know how this turns out, but I know you will land squarely on your feet and continue to thrive. I saw your chickens for beginners video and was thoroughly entertained and truly learned so much! You are smart, articulate, have great humor and a calm nature which is as pleasure to watch. So get through this rough patch and I have a feeling this was a great opportunity for you in disguise. You got this! 😊 Now I gotta go find your new videos to see how this turned out!
I have to wonder if your assinine city slicker neighbours have had second thoughts on having chickens and a milk goat handy. Urban people are clueless. I am sorry you have been upset by these type of human poops. I hope you have or will find a homestead where you can continue to live the life you are comfortable with. Thank you for your videos.
You can opt out of the agreement, there's a legal process you can follow it's same one I used to get out of a hoa, file for a perfect deed, it will be a lengthy process but a perfect deed means you hold superior right and it also removes any contract, convent or hoa authority, basically you're challenging th contract by saying no I don't agree with the terms they're intrusive and damaging your way of life, the challenge can also include I wasn't properly served notice of that contract, it's legit and legal process It's called a perfected title for the non legal persons.
Even though this was two years ago, it is still infuriating. I happened across one of your videos a few weeks ago about canning, and I quickly realized that you create extraordinarily useful, concise, practical, and information-rich content. I am sorry this happened to you and I hope that the forced change has gotten you into an even better position.
It’s been a long time since you posted this video. I hope that by now you have found the place that you were looking for and where you can live the life-style you desired, and that you’re happy. I just wanted to tell you that I was very impressed by your candor and humility. In recognizing mistakes and expressing your wants, you seemed to never lose perspective and were always considerate of others’ needs-something rarely seen these days. Thank you for posting and, best of luck to you!
Same type of aholes who move out of the city and try to force out a dairy or pig farm that has been there for 100 years because of the smell or noise. Never ever get a HOA or covenant property. I feel for you.
Like here where people say they want a cabin then buy property, cut down the trees, remove top soil, flatten the terrain and build a surban house...🤷🏻♂️
Your being forced to grow! Things will work out for you. You handled the situation in a humble, thoughtful manner. Fantastic response~your integrity has me subscribed and ready to see the next phase of your journey. Something tells me you will have more animals than what you were forced to surrender
New subscriber. Each time I watch this video, I can tell how painful this experience was for you. Tough lady, but I can tell you were hurting. Thank you for sharing this experience with us and for educating me along the way. Peace.
Your neighbors are missing out on knowing someone like you. It's heartbreaking to see what you went through. Looking at both sides of this issue was a respectful, mature thing to do. I don't think I would have handled it as well as you did. We lived next door to a farm and laughed at all the weird noises coming from the farm. The random geese and chickens passing through our yard was fun for us to watch. I'm hoping you found the perfect property with like minded neighbors. We are just starting to homestead. Definitely staying away from goats and guinea hens! We are wishing you all the best from New Hampshire
It takes a lot of courage and character to own up and share what you proactively did and what didn't work. More than 90% of us would go on social media and complain, harass or otherwise "avenge" their neighbors even though they were at fault. Great lesson sharing and what the gap was. I realize this is an old video and I'm sure you recovered and done much better than before. You definitely got a new subscriber.. Thanks for sharing.
My dear, it wasn't so much a mistake as it was a learning experience. You did everything that everyone advises to do, you just missed one obscure thing. It is a lesson you have learned and will be wiser because of it. And, since you put it on YT, hopefully will help others to learn as well. I know of 2 other YT homesteaders who have had similar experiences but from slightly different directions. Since you are in a community where they are building those big, fancy, and pricey homes, let's hope you will get top dollar for your property so you can move to a MUCH better location. :)
Touched by the raw authenticity of this video, we have been watching for a while now and in part got inspired to move from UK (this week) to start homesteading in France. Wish you much luck in selling up and finding a better location. From the evidence of the YT channel, i believe you will look back and see this was meant to be so you can grow as a family, explore more beautiful ideas and hopefully continue to inspire a growing dedicated following.
I am so sorry you were made to feel that way in your own home. But I'm willing to bet you were never meant to live that new lifestyle on only one acre. Here's to new beginnings. Cheers
You did an excellent job (as with all your videos that I’ve seen) in analyzing, explaining, and learning from your experiences. (BTW, don’t think of them as mistakes, but as experiences.) I wish you all the best, and I pray for a successful transition for you and your family. I hope that has already happened and that you have posted an update video. God bless you! You are a wonderful example of responsibility, hard word, reason, and kindness.
I feel your pain. I had 8 muscovy ducks about 15 years ago. they totally transformed our dust bowl of a yard. plants and lawn were lush and green. Tree stumps came back to life. trees producing fruit. endless eggs. it was beautiful. Then one rat neighbor complained. said they were too noisy... anyone whos ever had muscovy ducks knows they make almost no sound. but it was no longer considered "inconspicuous" so local authority ordered us to get rid of them. all because of a single complaint. no assessment. no other neighbors were asked. after that I started learning electric guitar. I practiced everyday.... never got very good though....😈
My husband just said, "now why can't we have neighbors like that? We wouldn't mind the goats, they would be much better than the partying drunks next door!" We are having so much fun binge watching your videos during the quarantine. Thanks.
I’d rather have people next to me that have have animals and care for them than jerks that neglect the dogs they keep chained on their property barking all damn day. Hell I’d bark too. We have been thinking about goats.
Alaska has newbies coming from elsewhere that think they can make rules from where they come from changing Alaska. Why don’t they go back to where they come from if it was SO great where they come from? I’m sorry for your losses. It’s crushing.
You are outstanding. Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate this video and the effort you took to make it. Your neighbors are nasty so I'm glad you guys are moving.
Part of the problem are the suburbanites and city people. Often they are selfish and narcissistic. I only know this because I've seen my county transform People build near a hog farm and want the hog farm to move. They move next to a racetrack and want the track to end their life long business because its 'noisy' I see these things over and over. It's all about them, to hell with the families already living there. Your situation is a little different and I think we all learned a great deal from your situation. It made me re-read my deed and check my area to see if my acre is actually plotted as part of a neighborhood. Bless you and your husband, you are in my prayers.
Just beginning with Homesteading and very thankful for your openness.... I will continue to watch and grow through watching your channel. So sorry for you loss... It doesn't get waisted when you help others. God bless you and your household.
These same people who hate useful animals such as livestock will happily allow the whole neighborhood to suffer their worthless yapping dogs to bark and howl for several hours day and night. I totally get it that people want peace and quiet. It's incredibly frustrating when your neighbors and their animals make so much noise pollution, and you can't do anything about it. People just need to be considerate of how their actions effect others. Still, it baffles me how quickly the authorities move to punish you for loud livestock, but they do absolutely nothing for nuisance dogs.
So sad for you, I’m in a quiet neighborhood where everyone knew and respected each other. Older folks moved out and younger couples with lots of cash bought in to the neighborhood. Most of them keep to themselves and like it that way. When I started chicken keeping I called city hall and was told there were no restrictions on keeping chickens as long as there were no complaints from neighbors. I don’t have a rooster but now I get a little nervous when one of my girls gets a little enthusiastic with her egg song😝 I love my house but really want to move to a more like minded area.
If I were you, with the prices of fence posts and wire fencing...I would pull up the fencing you put in and roll it up and move it with you. It can be done. It will help save you some money down the road. Praying that you find your perfect homestead that has distance between neighbors. Prayers for you all and God Bless.
Watching your earlier videos it ridiculous what you went through with neighbors. I'm 45 when I was a kid we didn't have a huge property but my dad kept a huge garden and raised pigs for extra food and my mom canned and kept a huge pantry and stocked freezer. Our neighbors had a big henhouse, a huge garden and raised bees. He also at one time bought a goat, who was adorable🤗. No one complained and no one cared it was common. I guess the problems you went through show how much we have fallen as a society I think it's nice to see that our generation is going back to our roots.
Learned a lot here. Sorry you had to go through all that. You've shown how important neighborhood and community are over a property itself. Thank you for sharing mistakes made and having the humility to do it; they create the best opportunities for us to learn. I hope you all are able to find your perfect homestead.
It always intrigues me how people move to the "country" and then complain about animal noises.
And smells
Lol same people that lived next door to sports stadium or night club area, an got them to either stop or reduce niose times. An some people are stupid fussy like having a vegan living next door to someone who likes to BBQ meat. The back yards are getting to small.
Right? It's completely counterintuitive.
Joanne your so right!!
CIDIOTS- that's hilarious. Thanks for sharing
"Cidiots" Luv it!
Excellent post.
Stories like theirs are what remind me how I can never be a pacifist...
Those nosy neighbors are wishing they had those chickens there now with the shelves stripped bare at the grocery store now.
Hahaha!
Thank you.
I am impressed by her resolve. Her videos are helpful. Helping to maintain some sanity around food sourcing and caring for your family.
Where we lived in AZ everyone had horses. People started moving into that area and didn’t like the smell so they started to push to rezone the area. These people chose to move into this area fully aware of the horses. They ruined it for the people that have been living in the area for many many years. Most of the complainers came from California.
I HATE people like this and there are a LOT of people like that in the U.S.
Go figure
Farms and livestock can be grandfathered in.
Rae Vandenberg Thank you for pointing that out.
Well done for being so frank and honest about what happened. I do hope you are in a better place and are able to do all you wish. Juliette from Spain.
This is such a great video in taking personal responsibility. You never fell into the blame game trap. Very impressive.
Your pain was so visible. So very, very sorry. Glad to see from your other videos that brighter days were ahead. Bless you.
Same
bingo
My heart is broken for you😢you clearly love animals and have a beep love of nature. I wish you love light and enormous abundance in your life going forward. 😍💕
Hateful people are hateful people. I am glad to see you have recovered well.
Amen!
I appreciate your honesty in the problems you’ve faced and how you’ve delt with your issues
Really sorry to hear this. It's too bad some people can't appreciate all the great and foundational knowledge you could offer them.
You are an amazing young woman! Your humbling approach to this educational video is to be commended!
people decide to build in areas where people have goats , horses , chickens... then complain that their neighbors have goats, horses, and chickens. something similar happened to a couple who were going to raise horses.. new neighbors built adjacent to their property then did as yours did and dug up some ancient record that prohibited it.

Here that loud and clear. Or when they ask a question about the animals, they keep on talking and don't wait for the answer.
I love your honesty, fairness, accountability, and especially your tolerance for others!
Wow. I see the pain in your eyes. I'm so sorry to hear that people treat you like that. Blessings to you and your family.
So sad people are like that...id love to have neighbors like you..
Hahahaha
God bless and don't give up
I have so much respect for the way you approached this video. I am glad it all worked out for you.
Thank you for your humility, something that's not seen much in these times. I've learned from you. God Bless you, I know it is painful to let go of the creatures.
You are a noble lady with a calming spirit. I wish you would move to Texas! This video is enormously helpful. Thank you!
You are a stand-up classy lady. Wishing your family great success in moving
heartbreaking.
Thank you for sharing. Your pain really comes through in this video. I hope you've found your perfect property by now.
Now I gotta go find your new videos to see how this turned out!
You can opt out of the agreement, there's a legal process you can follow it's same one I used to get out of a hoa, file for a perfect deed, it will be a lengthy process but a perfect deed means you hold superior right and it also removes any contract, convent or hoa authority, basically you're challenging th contract by saying no I don't agree with the terms they're intrusive and damaging your way of life, the challenge can also include I wasn't properly served notice of that contract, it's legit and legal process
It's called a perfected title for the non legal persons.
Wtf..neighbors like that count on stores for Food..Homesteading is the best lifestyle..Freedom & pride of your hard work.
I appreciate your honesty in taking responsibility for the plight. And understanding the line between your rights ending where someone else's begins.
New subscriber. Each time I watch this video, I can tell how painful this experience was for you. Tough lady, but I can tell you were hurting. Thank you for sharing this experience with us and for educating me along the way. Peace.
Welcome to the circus 😏
Guildbrook Farm thank you!
I am so sorry that this is happened to you. What is wrong with people that they can't stand it when others are happy and independent.
I’m glad you’re moving! God will give you the farm of your dreams!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Fast forward to 2020...those a-hole neighbors may be wishing they had chickens.
exactly. organic free range eggs. only $20 a piece, especially when supermarket shelves are empty.
Yeah, I wonder how many people were thinking that. I know I was. Times they Are a-changing.
yep. i just said the same thing, a couple comments up.
You are a very inspiring person, and a very skilled teacher. thank you.
I appreciate your honesty. I'm sure you'll figure out your future and make it work great!
Congratulations!
Very sorry you have such shallow neighbors. You deserve better. I just visited your website, you artwork is beautiful~!
Now with COVID, your neighbors are probably second guessing. I admire your goal on being self sustaining.
Self centered people don’t second guess there actions.
Cindy Wagner It’s like when people move next to a pig farm, then complain about the smell 😒
It was very helpful to learn from your mistakes. Thanks so much.
I don’t have a rooster but now I get a little nervous when one of my girls gets a little enthusiastic with her egg song😝
I love my house but really want to move to a more like minded area.
When your neighbors have no food in their fridge, they will regret their actions against you.
In Afghanistan there is a saying, if you don't have enough problems in life, get a goat,
Well said!
😂😂
Too true!
Learned a lot here. Sorry you had to go through all that. You've shown how important neighborhood and community are over a property itself. Thank you for sharing mistakes made and having the humility to do it; they create the best opportunities for us to learn. I hope you all are able to find your perfect homestead.
“I cant blame people for not appreciating the sounds of the farm” neighbor starts honking their horn
