2 OS and 3 years of security updates. Funny thing is Motorola considers the release as December 2024. Actual release date was January 30, so one can argue that Motorola is cheating users out of 1 security update.
I agree but you also get dual speakers on the Moto G this year and the Samsung A16 only has one speaker at the bottom. So there's trade offs for each device.
I mean it’s not all bad,I do like that moto used a hole punch as opposed to the notch so it looks modern. I would personally rather have lcd and no notch.
@ianwest1624 because it's a upgrade from what I'm using now, a Moto g stylus 2022. And the s22 plus is still supported for 2 more years. And I'm getting it for free
Headphone jack, up to 8 extra gigs of RAM, 3 cams again. Wow! Nice job Motorola. I said I was gonna buy a Motorola, but then I fell for Google, and now Samsung again. And I'm currently using the S24+. So yeah, I guess I'm bad at keeping my phone promises 😂.
Definitely want to see the Moto G Power once it's out. Honestly debating selling my Pixel 9 for it as I'm a huge sucker for rugged phones that still have the SD card slot and a headphone jack. Seeing how similar these 2 phones appear to be has me quite hopeful.
I hope they don’t step back the 2025 stylus phone. They tend to make a really good one and then do something random like step back the processor, switch to LCD and make the bezels chunkier or etc 🤣 in any case their design choices have been top tier lately in my opinion. I like the back of this way more than my iPhone.
A few years ago I abandoned moto for Samsung. While this phone may get 2 OS upgrades the A16 will be getting 6. So while this one is possibly stuck on android 16 5 years from now the A16 will be on the latest OS. That's not to say the A16 will be running these newer versions very well. The other thing I didn't really like about motorolas was that the batteries seemed to deteriorate much faster so maybe after 2 years the battery will be on its way out and you'd be replacing the phone anyway. My Galaxy A53's battery is only down to 95% battery where as my G power 2020's battery after 3 years was down to 84%.
I personally now kind of scare to buy an Amoled or super Amoled phone, I have seen too many amoled and super amoled phones with burnout screen problems
Oh, Motorola of 2021 was bloatware free, but they've been well bloated in recent years. Did you receive this one and can confirm they changed this year?
As much as I like how the phone looks, fingerprint scanner on the phone instead of on the power button I get so tired of hearing that is on the power button 😞😞
I've owned many Motorola phones over the years and the thing that irks me is there limited audio file codec support. Never buy one again. Samsung from now on.
At some point, Motorola has to decide to quit half assing their G lineup of phones. Each year, the phones are either the same or downgraded. They don't get regular updates compared to Samsung or Google, even OnePlus is far better. I'd honestly rather Motorola to make fewer G lineup phones and focus on making them better. They need to condense their lineups and make the most premium devices they can.
LDC is for some better than OLED because of pwm. I wish this phone had 6 gb ram at least instead of those out dated 4. Heck, make phones that have 4gb ram in 2025 entirely illegal smh 🙄
Hell no, never again on a Motorola, I have the moto 5G stylus right now.. Garbage the back with the battery unglued it's all bad but I have to wait so I can grab the ultra 25
They don't have smoked display because they're satisfied with being mediocre in illustrating display screen quality that's cheaper and more simple in a stupid sense....

Moto G5 g 2025 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches
Thanks boss 🙏
Keep up the good work on the reviews
Damn I thought they bumped up to 4 years smh.
How long is Samsung A16? 5 years of security updates?
@mdubb4855 nope it's 6
So the Edge 2025 is the phone to wait for since it has the better features for around $500… But ain’t a bad deal though for the price…
The processor is worst. They dropped the snapdragon. Still only 4gb ram. Just like last year. That was a issue on the 2024 phone.
Not worth it.
If Samsung can provide Amoled on the A16, then why can't Motorola do the same on their device?
True 👍 plus the A16 gets around 6 years of security and os updates
You want all that You might as well just get a Moto G stylus that provides that OLED display
I agree but you also get dual speakers on the Moto G this year and the Samsung A16 only has one speaker at the bottom. So there's trade offs for each device.
The Samsung A16 also doesn't have a headphone jack.
I mean it’s not all bad,I do like that moto used a hole punch as opposed to the notch so it looks modern. I would personally rather have lcd and no notch.
When's the new status coming out and the a36 or a56
Reminds me of the Nexus lineup of yesteryear. Simple but elegant
I'm going back to using a Samsung for a few years with the s22 plus. Hopefully Motorola phones are awesome on my return to them. Great video 💯
S22 plus? Why such an old device?
@ianwest1624 because it's a upgrade from what I'm using now, a Moto g stylus 2022. And the s22 plus is still supported for 2 more years. And I'm getting it for free
Moto G Power 5G 2025 look great too.
Does this phone have FM Radio?
Headphone jack, up to 8 extra gigs of RAM, 3 cams again. Wow! Nice job Motorola. I said I was gonna buy a Motorola, but then I fell for Google, and now Samsung again. And I'm currently using the S24+. So yeah, I guess I'm bad at keeping my phone promises 😂.
Great video. Phone looks great thanks
I recommend the Motorola edge 2024 it has and OLED display along with a 144 hz refresh rate for not to much for a great midrange
I have the moto g 5g (2024) i dont think its really worth the upgrade they're nearly almost the same
It would be a downgrade if you did. The 2024 version has a better processor.
Definitely want to see the Moto G Power once it's out. Honestly debating selling my Pixel 9 for it as I'm a huge sucker for rugged phones that still have the SD card slot and a headphone jack. Seeing how similar these 2 phones appear to be has me quite hopeful.
Looks good wonder what prepaid carries like straight talk will offer this for
They usually sell for half the price
Green color too.😊

I looked at the razr in best buy and it had extreme screen burn in ghosting

The Moto G Power 2025 is the phone I am waiting for. I think it comes out FEB -7
Won't touch Motorola, always have double key lettering issues on the keyboard. Bought an Oppo to replace, no problem at all.
Why this looks like a edge 50 neo
If I buy this thru Motorola, can I use it for Cricket Wireless?
Yes
@Kaligula-b1c thank you
Absolutely clean software with 0 bloatware
Oh, Motorola of 2021 was bloatware free, but they've been well bloated in recent years.
Did you receive this one and can confirm they changed this year?
Camera is missing spot color photo and video.
That's what I've noticed as well, all other Motorolas always kept this feature for some years. 🤔
They give only one year update
Thumbs down for the fake aaa camera
It better then last year phone.
Super almond or dynamic almond is first criteria

First 😊
The Moto g stylus 5g 2024 is so much better.
I gave up on Motorola. They just aren't good with updating their phones.
Hell no, never again on a Motorola, I have the moto 5G stylus right now.. Garbage the back with the battery unglued it's all bad but I have to wait so I can grab the ultra 25
Toooo much 💰 MONEY it's not worth it. Maybe you THINK SO😮

AMOLED is worse than IPS in nearly every regard.
