    Debt is good and bad it’s a battle of what works for sure . If you’re running on all cylinders keep what’s working .

      For sure! when growing fast stacking debt on top of debt can get a business in trouble...

    It’ll be a small fortune but worth it to add hooks to your cans and go with a hook. Hooks shine in tight spaces. I’m particular with my trucks so feel free to reach out and I’ll give you my 2 cents.

    • @Lifes_Apprentice
      @Lifes_Apprentice  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wish I would have done that from the start but I did not know any better...I will have them put on new cans and stick with cable for now but at least I have the option to change someday. Hooklifts have become so popular and as far as getting a roll off truck hooklifts seem alot easier to get. What hook size should I put on new cans? 36"? 54"? I was leaning to the 54"...

    • @FrankKriticos

      @@Lifes_Apprentice 54" for sure. I'd also go with a 26k truck because I don't think people realize how heavy a 20 yard can get. Then there's the tranny issue. As far as I'm concerned, not being able to work the PTO while in gear is not an option so that leaves with 2 choices. A 2016+ Ford or a Allison 3000. The downside of the allison is that most medium duty trucks don't come with 3000 series tranny's so you'd most likely have to buy from an upfitter such as Ruble or Smith. They know how to spec these trucks well because they know our industry. The downside is that it'll have to be a brand new truck which mean $150k. Ouch. I have a 2200 tranny, 3000 tranny and a ford tranny. I prefer the 3000 tranny, then Ford and then the 2200. Something else to think about is the height of the dumpster when on a truck. It's significantly taller and a 14' 20 yard can will cause some issues with telephone lines. I keep an expandable broom in my truck which comes in handy often. My point is my first truck fits 12-14' cans but after I realized how tall the 20 yard cans are I went with 15-16' length to make the cans shorter. All this to say that i'd consider a system that can carry 14-16' cans vs. 12-14'. Also research wheel base because every inch counts. My freightliner M2 is 216" my F750 is I belive 230". It's a big difference so the shorter the wheels base with the ability to carry a 16' can is the sweet spot in my opinion. Now lets talk tarps. I have a few roll rite dc203. It's fine but one of my trucks has the ALC hydraulic tarp and wow, never thought it'd be so excited about a tarp system lol.... Lots to think about but you can buy a premade 54" for $350ish, then the cost to weld so it'll add up quick. I'd suggest doing that part now so you can spread out the cost compared to adding a hook on all cans plus the cost of the truck. I'm not going to proof read this so hopefully it makes sense hahaha

    Yes sir i knew you would be getting a truck soon it makes sense once you get to your size 👍 gotta work the write offs to there best advantage and not get in over your head. Can’t wait to see new truck cable i presume

      It was only a matter of time! I wanted to get one in 2021-2022 and probably should have but the lead times were insane.. They have not gotten much better. It will be a cable truck and I am excited!

    I have two pick up trucks and two trailers. Not quite as many dumpsters as you yet but stay busy and profitable with low overhead.
    Just can’t justify buying a roll off truck and going from zero debt to an expensive overpriced high interest rate, high maintenance roll off truck.
    I sleep better at night with cash reserves in bank and not beholden to a bank or anyone else.

      @Lifes_Apprentice  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is exactly what we have done over the past 2 years. Now we have almost no debt and we upgrade without debt. or at least a small amount. We are on the same page I think. Thanks for watching!

    What kind of cable system are you getting? I also own a Nedland trailer and getting closer to adding a rolloff truck. Are you staying under 26gvwr or making the jump to cdl?

    Not sure if it's the same there as here it's better to lease and have the expense than to buy out right.. here if you don't have enough expenses 50% goes to the government.. I don't know .... talk to your accountant for advice

    • @Lifes_Apprentice
      @Lifes_Apprentice  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are probably right but the trailers and roll off trucks are a specialty items so they would be hard to lease. we pay at least 30% on any profit to the govt...I do not mind paying taxes but sometimes it seems a bit excessive....
