Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this TH-cam channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

I love how your Cuba vlogs take me back to pre-internet days of travel with my family as a kid. There's something quite special about just showing up and discovering something new or having to make new plans when something goes wrong. Love it!

Let it never be said that Kara and Nate don't try their darndest to see the best in every situation. They're way too nice to ever say it, but it looks like Cuba has been a pretty rough trip, to put it mildly. At least the residents are pleasant and the pizza is good.

I just got back to Canada from a 1 month trip in Cuba! Saw this video in my recommendations 😀
Tip: find out how much the viazul bus trip costs and then negotiate with the taxi driver, the ones I went with usually only charge 2-5 CUC above the bus price.
Yes, most likely they'll be a ride share system, but luggage is put in the trunk or strapped on top of the car, never seen the luggage on lap situation before. Looking forward to the rest of your trip! You should go to Baracoa if you haven't already 😁
Kara's Pro Tip: Pretend to be sick so no one sits next to you.
Andrew don't sit in the last seat next to the restroom. You know what everyone had for breakfast and the door slams. Seats don't recline.
@@joannedevine2141 Except that atleast in my experience cubas viazul busses have their restrooms locked, theyre not in use. I recommend not having diarrea in viazul

Two things: First, your bravery amazes me. Second, I think "spontaneous" tours during transportation are a South/Central American staple. My limit of bravery is booking my own excursions when we cruise. Twice now (once in Mexico and once in Belize), our van has just suddenly pulled over at some janky distillery to try to sell us booze. We thought we were being kidnapped. Fortunately, both times, the driver spoke enough English to explain that we were stopping "for a tour." :-)

Nice, good old Via Azul. That was the old National Zoo, now the City Zoo. I used to get off the city bus at that bus stop where you shot the old blue Lada and walk 18 blocks to get to school in the morning :) these videos bring back old memories. Thanks for sharing!

I've been watching you guys for over a year and love your videos! Have you ever considered going to Tanzania? I've been there and it was the most amazing trip I've ever been on! There is a four seasons in the middle of the bush and all the hotel rooms surround a watering hole for elephants and other wildlife! Safe travels to you all!

@@JackandGabExplore Definitely take a classic car tour all around Havana. It was such a surreal experience and we learned so much. I could spend hours walking around all the old streets. Which we did ! Theres no place like it.
Great videos! we were in Havana and Vinales last month and loved it. Only potential scam was the bank guard offered money exchange on the side at a few more cents better on the dollar. I said “No thanks!”. I was taking no chances. We bought cigars at a farm but not one in your videos. The place we stayed on Main Street in Vinales was fantastic. Four of us rented a guide and his 1955 Ford for a 2 day/night drive to tobacco country. thanks for the videos that we totally relate to.

Freedom Strider in Cuban buses back seat are right next to the bathroom 🚽 and if it happens to be broken or breaks or the last person never flushed it. You’ll travel with stinky pee odor right next to you hehehe I’m cuban so my last bus trip there I was miserable for 10 hrs back home

The ferry to Casablanca is 0.20 CUP. I paid 0.10 CUC - still an amazing deal. I got stopped by security. They searched through everything. I went to Casablanca to catch the only electric train (!!) back towards Veradero.
We had the exact opposite experience between bus and taxi but between Havanaand Trinidad. The bus took about 8 hours while the taxi took 4. The bus stopped for milk. Which spilled. We had many random stops. They were about the same price.
Please please please go to El Salvador. My family is from there and I've never been. I"d love to see your take on the little country and maybe I get tips on when I visit 😋

I just wish you'd provided greater detail about the places you went including showing locations on the map so we could compare to when we were there. We walked pretty much the entire town and all the trails surrounding in the couple weeks we were in Viñales.
