    We have had quite a few comments stating that we are mispronouncing the name of this town. We apologize and are aware of the mistake(s) we've made. While we don't really hear the difference, we don't want to offend anyone! Please realize that we are all human and prone to the occasional mistakes. Sometimes it is difficult to pronounce towns and cities and we only have a short stay in most cases. After speaking to several locals, we thought we were saying it the same as them. It is actually pronounced DeF-you-niak not DeF-oo-niak. It is a slight difference in one syllable but we do apologize.

      It was such a cute and quiet place to visit. We had fun staying at the hotel and walking the town at night. 🙂

    I drove past Defuniak Springs but haven’t been. I love the old small town Forever Florida vibe. Beats the hustle and bustle of Orlando. Free Ms Pac-Man I am there! 😂

      We love small towns! This one is really cute! I hope they add more things to see or eat. They were opening a Vietnamese restaurant soon. It looked so cute. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

      It is a quiet little town near a lot of Springs. We had fun stay there for 3 nights! We met the owner of Hotel Defuniak. His name is Ernie, and he is a chef. Really good food! Thanks for watching! 🙂

      I am always looking for new places to explore. I love small towns in Fl. There isn't a ton to do, but the food is always good, people are friendly, and the architecture is amazing. Nicolai is graduating high school this year. My babies are all grown. The kids love traveling with us. We had a great time! Thanks for watching! 🙂 Hope the family is doing well!

    Just wanted to correct some information on the Chautauqua Theater. The theater does 2 children's theatrical productions a year, as well as monthly live, original music and Christmas movies during the holiday season, in addition to hosting several talks and seminars. It's independently owned by The Florida Chautauqua, Inc. and ran by an all-volunteer board of directors. Thank you for mentioning it though!

      It looked like a cute theater and would be perfect for some older movies. We had asked some of the people in town about it, and they thought it ran only kids' movies. We love those old theater buildings. Thank you for some more info on the building! 🙂

      @benrouse2386 they weren't open during our visit, unfortunately. We were going to eat there as we were excited that they were the oldest restaurant in town. We like exploring old things!

      Plan your trip as things in this town aren't open on Sunday and Monday at some of the locations. It is a very nice little town. We enjoyed walking around at night. Have an awesome trip! Thanks for watching!🙂

    While growing up in Westville FL, we always pronounced the name of the town with a long U. D-fyou-nee-ak. like the word you.

      @benrouse2386 maybe read our pin before you comment. You aren't the first to say this, hence the pin on the comments. We know 🤦‍♀️

    i want to visit briefly, so far lack of city street trees shows it is hot and not much loved but i will watch it all first.

    • @FloridaandBeyond

      It is a small town. You find peace and quiet there with life being simpler. We enjoyed walking the streets at night and talking to the people. It was also nice looking at the old buildings.

    As a resident of this town I’m not trying to be rude I just want to put this out there. It’s pronounced Dee-fyou-niak springs. Not de-fun-iak springs. Again I’m not trying to be rude in any way.

    • @FloridaandBeyond
      @FloridaandBeyond  ปีที่แล้ว

      So we talked to a bunch of locals, and the way we say it is the same as they did. We hung out with Chef Ernie from Hotel Defuniak. Were you watching it with subtitles or sound? In the seven times we said it, we did not say de-fun-iak so not sure it was a problem. We say dee-fyoo-nee-ak..

    • @Christianrailfan
      @Christianrailfan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FloridaandBeyond ok my bad. I’ve always said it dee-fyou-naik. I’m wrong on this one.

    • @FloridaandBeyond
      @FloridaandBeyond  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Christianrailfan I am not sure maybe there are two ways to pronounce it. We say it how other TH-cam videos say it, locals we met and how google says to pronounce it. Someone else said it was wrong, too. Makes no sense.

    The lake was made by a meteor

    • @FloridaandBeyond
      @FloridaandBeyond  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was reading that is the legend of the lake. There is another lake in Florida called Kingsley. It is perfectly round, too. That lake was created by a sinkhole. It is thought that maybe Defuniak could be a sinkhole, too. It is neat, however the lake was created because it is apparently rare. The old houses that circle around it make it a perfect little town area!

    I"m sorry but as a resident of DeFuniak....its pronounced DeF-you-niak. not DeF-oo-niak. Love the Channel keep it up!

    • @FloridaandBeyond
      @FloridaandBeyond  ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, so you all must say it differently. Here is a news report of a news anchor saying it th-cam.com/video/zCVpIctN9-Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_efqArUUIEKOgY1s. Plus the people we met said it the same way. If we are staying it wrong, it is by a syllable. Thanks for watching! 🙂

  • @hlifino1

    You're pronouncing it a bit off but over all good video. next time check out the old CocaCola building its supercool

    • @FloridaandBeyond
      @FloridaandBeyond  ปีที่แล้ว

      We pronounced it like google and the locals we met. We looked it up and asked several people in the town so strange that it was wrong. Where was the old Coca-Cola building? We show a building that says Coca-Cola on the wall. I also just listened to a bunch of youtube videos, including news reports. We are saying it like everyone on those videos so I do not understand what is the difference.

      I am not quite sure what you are talking about, but I am sure there were many people who worked to drink. Unfortunately, life isn't always pleasant. Thanks for watching! 🙂
