Time Lords (and River) are pretty much invincible for the first 15 hours after they regenerate, because their bodies are bursting with regeneration energy. Tennant mentions this, and it’s how he regrew his hand. Also, they can regenerate into a different race and even gender.
I do find it crazy when people say they dont like season 6, its soooooo good, the whole story arc of the silence and River and everything else is just amazing, plus Matt Smith smashes it as the doctor i just love this whole arc
Chibnall should have landed on a triple word score by making the Doctor (1) Female; (2) Black; and Gay. We would have had a better actor. Tom Baker said he was just 'being Tom'. Whittaker didn't even research the part.
Moffat wrote the River episodes in season 4 to foreshadow his run on Who. The man had the vast majority of the first three seasons of his run of the show planned out from the word 'go'
At the end of Flesh and Stone, the 2nd Weeping Angel episode featuring River Song, she tells the Doctor and Amy that she’ll see them again when the Pandorica opens so it had already happened for her.
After Melody is kidnapped as a baby at the end of episode 7, she's next seen -- for timey-wimey values of 'next' -- as the girl in the astronaut suit at the start of season 6 before regenerating at the end of episode 2. Somehow, maybe with further regenerations, she then makes it to be in the same school as Amy and Rory, and grows up with her parents as we see here. I don't think it's much of a spoiler to reveal that you don't yet have all the pieces of River's story.
Just to clear things up. It’s not because Amy and Rory “did it” in the Tardis. Of course it is an enormous source of power but not what made River. They “did it” in the Time Vortex which is infinitely more powerful. All that time energy surrounding the Tardis when it travels in time was the happening at the exact same moment of conception.
btw, this was not River's first regeneration - do u remember in this episode what Mels said? "last time, I was a toddler, in the middle of New York.." at the end of episode 2 in this season, a little girl regenerates in an alley.. possibly into Mels.. we don't know how she ends up as Amy and Rory's friend in England.

She named her daughter after her friend... who was her daughter.

I loved season 6. Currently finished s7 (finale will come to patreon soon) and I think season 6 was my favorite out of Matt Smith's seasons.

In case you didn’t catch it “Hello Benjamin” is (another) reference to Mrs Robinson from ‘The Graduate’…

I had forgotten about that kid regenerating at the end of ep 2 when I watched this episode.
I love the Teselecta antibodies. They are the most polite death robots ever. I want to get their expressions on a shirt.

“What do you guys like…? Love and Monsters?” 😂🤣 My thoughts exactly. The Moffat era is my favorite and Matt is my favorite Doctor

I would say this honestly was the peak of doctor Who for me, Series 1-Series 7A + 50th is my stopping point.
You're forgetting impossible astronaut, the little girl regenerates at the end after being shot by Amy...
and Mels even mentions that, but almost all of the reactors completely miss this line!
Great reaction to one of my favorite episodes! I’ve rewatched this one soo many times
I love the River Song Arc. It is so timey wimey. It is what you expect from.
Timey wimey. It does all make sense - in universe at least, but you don't have all the pieces yet.
Watch the night and the Doctor series. It takes place right after this I think and has River.
