Zelenskyy's high intelligence and versatility enabled him to successfully handle the radically opposed roles that life handed to him, as a lawyer, entertainer, and President of Ukraine. His real-life courage to defend democratic freedoms against a tyrannical invading Russian bully is now unquestionable and legendary. His video communications are surely effective, but IMHO it is the intelligence and sincerity that shine through Zelenskyy's speeches, along with his mental resilience during these horrifying past 5 weeks, which are the keys to his popularity around the world.

His approach is indeed very close to daily people's life, this approach made people united as one because he's projecting himself as a normal citizen, and servant instead of a fancy, lavish, full-body guarded leader, this image allowing normal citizens to feel they all can be a leader too - they can change if they want to. This is what society needs I think, the complete opposite of his neighbor's president.

V. Zelensky needs to collect all the Nobel peace prize in his doorstep. I am Australian, a lot of our very best comedians in the 1990s were originally lawyers or had law degrees before entering into comedy. I could name 10 at least of these, but it's pointless, as the rest of the world would never have heard of them. It certainly helps that he is an actor, but this is not the important thing here. What is important is that the roots of Zelenskyy are humble enough to give him a level of humility and understanding of the common people. He also chose to stay in Kyiv regardless of the huge risks for himself when the war started. Last but no least, he was a heart, which is capable of love and which is also capable of courage.
These quality helped him to be a great actor and now make him a great leader . His antithesis, Putler and his cronies, on the other hand have their conscience amputated, and they are brutal not brave, as they send soldiers to die and order bombings of hospitals, schools and residential communities.

I cannot forget the devastated look on his face, the first time he appeared on media, after the Russians first invaded Ukraine, the responsibly he carried for his country. Later on, I fear for his brave life, if he was taken out, I think the whole country will not survive. I might have under estimated the bravery of the Ukrainians. I pray this war ends soon.

Um. The commentators were all obviously in awe of Zelensky's talents and how he has been able to use them to serve his people. I don't see any cynicism there. To analyze *how* someone does something, on what strengths and talents he draws, isn't the same as saying he wasn't doing it in earnest.
One of the most surprising humans I have ever seen. The power to make people smile, the power to make people want to do their best, the power to make others want to stay behind and fight for their and their families lives. What ever happens, I will always smile when I remember his smile and feel pain as I remember his face as he faced his murdered fellow Ukranians.

Zelensky was TERRIBLE at politics at the start of his presidency. He gradually went from terrible to bad to passable before the war started, though.
