The stunt caused a social media storm and resulted in a HUGE win for the planet when Yop agreed to stop using white P.E.T plastic bottles. Bravo, Joe. Bravo.

[edit] I absolutely love how the British idea of 'storming' off stage is politely walking away as the cameras fade away. No throwing words or chairs, just an icey silence.

I'm always very cautious about big media based sustainability stunts like this. Inevitably some information ends up distorted or missing. White PET is harder to recycle than clear and does cause an issue in waste streams but other colours cause even more issues. In some cases the colour of the bottle is needed to provide UV protection for the contents (often used for some medicine bottles) and can make the contents last longer depending on what it is. It's also worth noting that it is often easier to make recycled PET into cloudy or coloured bottles as this disguises any mixed colouration from different coloured virgin bottles. I'd hate for people to avoid these recycled coloured bottles because they view them as unsustainable. Generally speaking, yes clear PET is better and I know everyone's heart was in the right place like this but it's campaigns like this that often cause the most eco-confusion (such as switching out multi-use plastic shopping bags for multi-use cotton, which unlike jute has a much worse carbon footprint than plastic, no matter how much you use it.) Bottom line is we can't expect everyone to research deeply into topics like these, we need well-researched and sensible product packaging laws for sustainability, the same as we do for safety.

I guess you people aren't familiar with Joe. This isn't weird by his standards. This is a man who legally changed his name to Hugo Boss to make a point/ positive change.
@@daniellamcgee4251 Very familiar and this didn't ring true enough. Everything about it can be plausibly filmed after the event. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and I like the guy, but I wasn't convinced. Only Joe and the producers and presenters of that show know. And this took a long to come out.
I get the sentiment though and it worked for me, I'm aware of the white plastic thing. So I guess whether I believe him or not, it was still effective. I think I would have been happier if he'd put his hands up and said "ah shit you got me". This was trying slightly tooooo hard.

Recycle bottles and cans like we do in Norway by paying 20p extra pr bottle which you get back when you recycle them in the machine at the stores!! Norway recycle over 92% of all bottles and cans sold!!!
