  • Hi, My name is Ivan, I am a software developer. These days, I primarily use TypeScript to build applications that run in the browser, on the server or on the desktop. But I've always been fascinated by the beauty and power of strictly typed functional languages. Some of the ideas from these languages are slowly being adopted by what are considered mainstream languages, such as JavaScript or TypeScript. In this series, I want to talk about Rescript. Broadly speaking, this language is based on OCaml and features a wonderful type system that doesn't get in the way. This course is for people who have experience with TypeScript and JSX. As we progress, we'll solve some close-to-real-world problems, and you'll get a chance to compare the TypeScript approach with Rescript. Even if Rescript may not become the language of choice in your company, I hope you will get a new perspective and find ideas to bring back to your daily job. We'll start with basics, and with every episode, we'll cover more and more details. I hope you'll enjoy our journey, and let's get started!

ReScript really needs to start taking over from TypeScript

I get your point. The good thing is that both can co-exist too, we don't have to choose either or. Rescript is a tool to get the job done. Most importantly, we can learn the differences between type systems, ecosystem, etc. These new ideas alone will help make better choices and decisions in the future.
