This is one of my favorite songs of Prince. You guys did an amazing job on this. Your vocals was so amazing starting out soft then building it up absolutely amazing I'm sure Prince is rocking out in the great above. I have to leave mad props to the drummer. His energy and the powerful way he plays he definitely showed that trap set who was boss.👋👋👋👋👋💯🔥💓
Complete and total respect for putting yourselves out there and trying the impossible, great job, but this is one of those songs that on the right night, the right crowd giving back the right vib, and with your heart and mind both feeling the love, under those conditions I'm sure it can be done. But The only person able to bring those conditions into the studio has done it and moved on. Nobody will ever lay down a studio version cover that can hold a candle. Nothing personal. Just coming across this by surprise and reading that you tried made me feel more emotion than most songs out today. You guys did that with silence. I hope you understand how powerful that is.

@nonpoint This is the o ly cover of When Doves Cry that I have ever heard that was worth covering. With that being said No one could ever reach the exquisite high standard on this song or any Prince song, thatheset. Not even close. He had the unique ability to combine his silky vocals with his tough as nails attitude and the listener not be able to figure out which was which and kept the music lover engaged 110%. With your version, you went from your silk voice to your version of tough as nails and we were amused but not confused, lol. You did a great job. If the Prince version was at 100, yours was at 40 and everyone else is at 2 and below. I listened and stayed engaged the entire video and I usually know within 2 to 5 seconds if I am going to tune out and turn off. So that's says a lot about how much I enjoyed your version. It had a lot character with your acting abilities. When you were going to switch from silk to nails and your expression changed I was like "whoa, where is this going"?😂👍It was a good transition and we went to a Zach DeLarocha moment. The rock out was good. I was listening to see if you would appeal back to silk in the end to close it out with vulnerability. I wonder what that would have been like🤔👍 I enjoyed it. Good job guys!📺
As a metalhead and also a Prince fan i really like this. This is a great cover. The Purple One would be happy to see that his music travels in genres and that it doesn't stay in one shape and box.
I love this band, they literally helped me get through a lot of bad times in my life. Bands like Nonpoint don get the recognition that they deserve. This band truly does have a gift. Thank you Nonpoint for the music. #respectandlove
I remember you guys having the Facebook poll asking which cover you should do next. This is the only song I voted for, but I could have sworn it had been eliminated, because that's when I lost interest and quit paying attention altogether. I'm glad you decided to listen to me instead of the majority. I wouldn't steer you wrong. I knew you guys would kill it on this cover and you did not disappoint. How about Black Sabbath's "Hand of Doom" next?
@@Jasonzeilstra Hmm. Weird. I distinctly remember the disgust and disappointment I felt when I saw it had been eliminated by some incredibly popular but kind of crappy song I don't care for, but I can't remember which. Seems it was something like, but not necessarily, Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters", but obviously I'm mistaken, it's just strange because my memory of those feelings is pretty vivid. I'm an INTP on the Meyers-Briggs personality assessment; which, if you're not familiar, means I normally display all the logic and emotional range of Spock, from Star Trek so feelings tend to stand out in my memory, being somewhat less common for me than they are for most. Why would a FB poll to pick a band's cover song cause a strong emotional response in such a person, you might ask? You're one of my favorite bands, and this is one of my favorite songs. The prospect of you covering it got me a little excited, apparently. Shame on you for making me feel feelings. I forgive you though, I know you didn't do it on purpose. Due to the discrepancy between my memory and the actual events that transpired, I'm forced to operate under the assumption that I've been Mandela effected into some alternate universe where people have better taste in music and I just want to say thank you for whatever role you guys played in getting me out of that hellhole.
@@williamparrish5002 I know what happened now. This was a contest across ALL our social media so if you only saw Facebook then you are probably correct. I do believe it was edged out by Nothing Else Matters on Facebook. But across all our socials it was overwhelmingly When Doves Cry that won.
@@Jasonzeilstra yeah, I'm pretty anti-social in general, but media especially, so yeah, I would have only seen the FB thing. When I saw the preview of your latest reply on my desktop it cut off midway through the word "across". l figured you thought me insane you were going to tell me it was a contest across the entire multiverse and When Doves Cry won in an overwhelming number of other realities to console me in case I was the dangerous kind of insane. If you think about it, that pretty much is what happened, if on a somewhat different scale. I think my phrasing makes it sound cooler though, so if anyone else hits you with this question, feel free to explain it to them my way if you want to. LOL Regardless of how it came to pass, I'm glad it did and that I got to hear it, whether extra-dimensional travel was involved or not. You guys did a great job. Thanks for taking the time to clear up that confusion for me, that was really cool of you. I know not every "rock star" would do that, but you're humble and down to earth and I appreciate people like that. You guys are awesome, keep it up. For real though, put Hand of Doom in the next poll and I'll even log into Myspace so I can vote for it twice.
I just heard this. And I have to give credit where it’s due.Bravo gentlemen,It’s my favorite version I’ve ever heard…(Aside from the original)lol.Keep killing it,It’s a blessing to hear!More covers in the future hopefully!!🤞🏻

I'm almost 50 and going to see them Saturday! They're gonna rock no matter how old I am!
I love this band, they literally helped me get through a lot of bad times in my life. Bands like Nonpoint don get the recognition that they deserve. This band truly does have a gift. Thank you Nonpoint for the music. #respectandlove
Amazing cover fellas and great video Frankie 🤘🏻🕊👊🏻👏🏻
I remember you guys having the Facebook poll asking which cover you should do next. This is the only song I voted for, but I could have sworn it had been eliminated, because that's when I lost interest and quit paying attention altogether. I'm glad you decided to listen to me instead of the majority. I wouldn't steer you wrong. I knew you guys would kill it on this cover and you did not disappoint. How about Black Sabbath's "Hand of Doom" next?
It wasn’t eliminated. It won. Thank you.
@@williamparrish5002 ❤️🤘🏼
LOL
Regardless of how it came to pass, I'm glad it did and that I got to hear it, whether extra-dimensional travel was involved or not.
Man is there anything yall cant do? This is beyond awesome. Definitely worth the wait. Hope to see you guys in Ft. Myers again soon.
Thanks buddy. Full transparency I can’t make a knitted sweater. But I can juggle!
@@EliasSoriano44 in the end I think thats all that matters 😆
Curiosity drew me in & I'm glad it did , nice work guys. 👍🕺🎶
I just heard this. And I have to give credit where it’s due.Bravo gentlemen,It’s my favorite version I’ve ever heard…(Aside from the original)lol.Keep killing it,It’s a blessing to hear!More covers in the future hopefully!!🤞🏻
Nice! You should see if Metal Piano Music would collaborate with you. That would sound so cool!!!
🔥 You guys have been k××lig it for so many years. Had the pleasure of seeing you in Providence many years ago! (Though I'm a Masshole). I hope to catch another concert up here in New England. 🤘
Jan 14th we’ll be at Wally’s in Hampton Beach.
I’ve been following you guys since I first heard What a Day on KROCK in Syracuse NY, managed to catch four live shows. This helps cement your guys even further as one of my favorite bands of all time.
I have loved this song since before I heard "What a day" for the first time over 20 years ago. Then there was "In the air tonight." Now I am sure this will be on repeat for a long while! Thank you Nonpoint for always being awesome!
I have always thought this band was badass. Glad there still playing. Always been talented.
