And on the Howard Stern show when they played this Howie made James realize it was actually partly about himself. It was kind of sad to watch but I recommend it. (Also has Extra Bass)

I remember only being able to blink and move my eyes, but nothing else, from the medication they gave me. My father was above me while I was lying in the hospital bed. He touched the tube that was going down my throat and inadvertently moved it in such a way as to cause severe panic inducing pain in my throat. I could not let anyone know that something was wrong. All I could do was flutter my eyes back and forth and blink as fast as possible but it made no difference. He, nor the doctor present, had any idea that I was in complete distress. I remember being furious that beforehand I had been in a slightly peaceful state and then with one motion, my father put me in hell. He just gave me a sad smile as I was panicking in my mind and then he walked away.

And words nor song, can realize all your greatest fears come to life. You want to scream, but your only screaming on the inside, noone can hear you.

In a enveloping darkness cant see even my hands. Out of that dark came a voice, not of my own.... I asked, "do you want live, or do you want to die?" with a shakey and confused voice i said "L,live?" And im still hear today. But the emotional scares will never heal.

He asks to be killed, but, to his horror, the doctors are keeping him alive as a guinea pig, to be tested on and kept alive for the rest of his life, trapped in his body. As he attempts to remain sane, his mind drifts through fantasy and reality, memories, dreams, and even nightmares. All he can do is chant "kill me" for the rest of his life.

This song, horrifyingly, is about an American soldier in ww1, hit by a landmine, and miraculously surviving. He wakes up in a clinic, unable to see, he attempts to speak, but finds out his vocal cords were singed, and is thus rendered mute, and has lost all limbs. He attempts to communicate through Morse code, and amazingly, they understand him. He asks to be killed, but, to his horror, the doctors are keeping him alive as a guinea pig, to be tested on and kept alive for the rest of his life, trapped in his body. As he attempts to remain sane, his mind drifts through fantasy and reality, memories, dreams, and even nightmares. All he can do is chant "kill me" for the rest of his life.
idk how true that is the songs lyrics seem to support your idea and in the beginning you can hear gunshots and...helicopters ? in ww1 ? thats not right and "hit by a landmine" in ww1 ? i dont know about you but i have NEVER heard of landmines in ww1 with these i can say that this is probably not ww1 but a more modern war Vietnam could be it with traps,helicopters and everything or its a more modern war than Vietnam its just not ww1
