I got refunded for both of the kits! They completely refunded them and took the kit access away, and I was able to rebuy them for the correct $5 price. I'm glad they fixed it!
I’m wondering if that means the creators don’t get the commission from the already redeemed codes, since they were refunded. I’m glad everyone who bought at the higher price was able to get the money back, but it sucks for the CC creators :(
The creators should totally get royalties, no code needed. You write a book, record a song, design a character for a movie you get an upfront fee AND you get royalties for it every time someone buys a copy. Ya, a company polishes it packages it up and sells it for you, but you still get royalties…
Yes. It’s a $5 dollars kit and they should get all the cash. But sadly it probably doesn’t work that way. It most likely isn’t worth it for EA if they don’t get anything. I’m hoping that these creators get at least 80%ish of the profit.
You write an article for a magazine, you sell a pattern to a magazine, you sell a logo set to a business… you DO NOT get commission. You sell photographs to a stock photo publisher, you don’t get commission either. Sims Gurus don’t get commission on DLCs they worked on. The CC creators were contracted as independent contractors to make assets & a kit design for the Sims. The Sims now own the content. It’s not like with a book or a song where you can purchase the right backs. Most industries don’t do royalties.
The nails in the Slumber Party kit and the dining table & shelf in the Kitsch kit really just solidify my thinking that the CC creators really tried to shoehorn in some stuff that they KNEW we were lacking even if it's not 100% in the concept, which I love and thank them for.

@@rjcurrie61 More likely, they probably would rather that EA commission creators to make stuff for the sims (paying them fairly for their time and effort), and then add that content for free to the base game so everyone can use it.
@@rjcurrie61 obviously not, I think it’s great that cc creators get money for what they’re doing. By doing this EA can just say that they support cc creators and then get the money while being praised by the whole community. That really isn’t the way to go and there has to be another way to support the creators
Yeah I don’t understand how everyone’s eating this up… EA is leaning into the idea of “support your local creators!” When in reality it’s support EA and support their money system. CC from simmers should be free after 30 days. This is just more capitalist crap that allows EA to keep charging RIDICULOUS prices. Idk lilsimsie was just over-hyping both these packs in my opinion

the detail and graphics are so good on new items! You can literally see the texture even though its a game! Sims Creators really need to take notes from cc creators
you talking about how the build kit is your style makes me want to see a build based on your own house! or if that feels revealing, then your dream house or something. i think you might have done something similar a while ago, but i’d love to see it again with all the packs we have now!
simsie`s points are so valid!! Like, EA`s only effort was making those packs available on stores. Its almost an insult not paying these creator something like, at least, 30% of each sale
I know 30% is huge, problably would never happened, but as said these creators did ALL THE WORK!! EA did nothing, its ridiculous, not even the 5~7%....
Basically they have found a way to monetize CC. On one hand, the modders get some money. BUT on the other hand EA is getting paid for CC. It would be better if modders could put their work behind a Patreon paywall. I know we are used to getting CC for free, but I'd rather the modders got the money directly.
That wouldn’t resolve console creators having no way to access CC though. I feel like both these kits should also come with like, a few extra items that’s go with each pack from the creators that come in a free base game update (but EA still pays them for making those items)

I was already on the fence about this kits, liking them for the same pros as you, but seeing now the price feels like a complete let down. I think EA is doing something really scammy and I doubt I’ll be purchasing them any time soon, which ends up not only hurting them, but the poor creator who spent all of their time and care making it. Good job Kayla, it was a very nice review ❤
The fact that you are a #1 sims stan but also do not accept any BS from EA and are completely transparent in how you speak on all these behind the scenes things is so insanely respectable and just makes me trust you so much more.
They had the wrong price for the presale with life and death for a little while. It was 49.99 and I was like what’s happening, so I waited. Starting to think they plan on raising the prices and they are trying to see how upset people will get about it. 😅
The build kit is GORGEOUS but I wish there was also a new flooring and wallpaper with them. Even just a new wallpaper that matched all the beautiful colours would have been nice 🥲

This video has made me realize you are not a shill and care about people's labor and time and don't agree with malicious marketing. A lot of people wouldn't have challenged a corporation like you did asking them to remove it and to callout the pay of contractors working for flat fees. I've been a longtime fan and this made me love your channel and videos even more now. You're someone people can trust.
Oh no I had just downloaded the new kits and was loading up the game when I heard the creators only get paid if you use the codes 😭😭😭 I'm beyond excited to see these kits but I completely agree that EA should be compensating them so much better and not forcing us to use the codes so they get money! Edit: I paid $4.99 each, same as any other kit. How weird!
They got a flat fee, so they did get paid at least somewhat, but if you get another pack later, you can still use their codes and they'll get a cut of that sale instead.
i’m glad you speak out on stuff like properly paying modders for their work. too many companies, even if we admire them or hold value to them, take advantage of us every time
Wish we could layer the patches and eye masks but other than that loving the sleepwear kit!! Also have the exact same slippers for me and my girls at my wedding {heart eyes} literally cheating for money to use the new cabinets as a tv stand as you speak!!! Also loving this pack as well!!!
so excited for the cozy kitsch kit but im a little disappointed the cas kit doesnt have anything for kids bc giving my sims families matching pjs wouldve been so cute
17:29 i got unexpectedly emotional cuz we had a green painted stool just like that all throughout my childhood and it gave me nostalgia lol just thought id share
The CAS kit had nice stuff - I don't typically buy CAS kits, but i think I'll buy this one. The build/buy kit however is perhaps the best that's been released. Just really good content that is missing from the game.
Those packs are perfect ! I love the casual sweet and cute night clothes ( the fuzzy texture is so neat !) and don't get me started on the furniture, I love it !!! ( I was mesmerised by those perfectly shaped green apples )
It's skilled labor to me and I think that's also why I'm on simsies side. Creating entire in game items is a little different from builds a sims creator was asked to do (after being garbage at builds as a company for YEARS or maybe even generations at this point)
The couch set is perfect, you're right that cc creators give us the whole set instead of just a loveseat. I really like how the couch/ loveseat/ chair are a set but have slight changes. The bookshelf is also perfect as a tv console. The little radio is also perfect. I didn't think I would care about this build kit, but its actually appealing. I reallly love myshunosun's CC
I've never tried to play with mods, but since I don't want to buy all the dlc, I'm really apreciating all the cc videos in you channel, also it's awesome they are collaborating with EA, I feel like discovering a whole new world now lol, so happy for them
i really love this concept, because now people who play on console like I do 98% of the time can actually get a taste for these amazing creators and their work, while also getting some fantastically made items. I'd love to see them expand this into stuff packs at a minimum, but that's probably an extremely far reach when we're talking about EA. Also, I learned how to pronounce Trillyke's name today lol so that's also cool. Appreciate the video as always, Kayla!
I completely understand and agree with what you mean when you say that as a creator you just want to be part of the game you love. So I also couldn't fault the creators for taking the gig even if the pay isn't great. However as a buyer, who has a fair bit of Sims DLC, but no kits (except the one they gave for free when Sims 4 became free), if a good chunk of the sales commission went to the creators I would honestly be inclined to buy these, because it would feel less like a cash grab and more like supporting the community. I think 50% would be totally fair. I mean EA would still get half the money for what seems to me like a lot less than half the work. The fact that they don't automatically even get the 5 - 7% is absurd.
As someone who makes things, I’ll never work for exposure, but for something I can add to my resume that will help me get a rather high paying job, that’s something I’d be thrilled about. I don’t get a commission each time someone wears a sweater I made & sold or uses a logo I made & sold. I don’t get paid per purchase for patterns I’ve sold to magazines. My writing friends don’t get paid per view for articles they’ve sold to e-publications. And let’s point out, they’re getting PAID… for something they’d do for free. And if those prices are legit higher, they are ABSOLUTELY getting commission. Did you even ask either of the creators? I have very strong feelings that they got $$$$$ because EA employees make bank & so do those they contract with. This is an independent contract type deal. Money was made and not an insignificant amount.
EA said they made a going market rate and given the CC creators are adults capable of making their own decisions, I would assume they got a decent amount.
I love these. I've been wanting new sleep wear for soooo long, I will be waiting till they fix the price. So happy you showed the packs and showed us them in game as sometimes it doesnt like exactly the same in the ea store pictures

yeah like, hm how can we make people pay (and pay EA) for cc....
So, you feel that the CC creators should receive nothing rather than what EA s paying them for the kit?
@@rjcurrie61 More likely, they probably would rather that EA commission creators to make stuff for the sims (paying them fairly for their time and effort), and then add that content for free to the base game so everyone can use it.
@@rjcurrie61 obviously not, I think it’s great that cc creators get money for what they’re doing. But what we know from EA is that they’re cashgrabby and theyre gonna profit off these kits WAY more than the creators. It’s EA that profits off of that deal and not the creators.
Idk lilsimsie was just over-hyping both these packs in my opinion
i LOVE that theyre dling creator kits! i love cc creators getting a showcase in this way and getting $! its so so exciting, as an artist myself. im also sooo much more inclined to buy these kind of kits, cause its folks ive followed for a long time too! SO happy about these 😭🧡🧡🧡
I can't tell you how much i enjoy having you as a person in this world. 😅 Just knowing your out there with your amazing sense of integrity brightens my day. I trust your judgement sooooo much. I can't imagine anyone questioning it. That's crazy!
the detail and graphics are so good on new items!
26:10 pls dont feel like youre just selling us packs with your review content! yeah i disagree with most of your positive views but i still enjoy watching for the good vibes and escapism
I can't believe how awesome this turned out!
The Cozy Kitsch kit is so cute!!! I would use that decor all the time
The kits have been priced wrong and are currently being refunded for whoever bought them for $10 and now the prices are $5 on the app. EA........
How do we get the refund?
@@desiraeballstadt-dyrssen9449 no idea, it's just what i heard from another simmer. hopefully the sims will tweet about it or something if they haven't already
I loved the comrade simsie monologue about fair compensation!!!!! yessssss
U are literally one of the sweetest most thoughtful content creators I’ve ever seen I love how you use your platform & you are so right EA should compensate creators they commission better and just be more on top of things!!
Didn’t even finish the video before I bought both of these kits!!! THEYRE SO CUTE!!! I have never bought a pack so fast!!!
The Cozy Kitsch kit gives me strong Urban Outfitters vibes and I am SO here for it, lol
I would LOVE to see you do an apartment with this build kit, Plumbellas Pastel Pop Kit, and base game. I think itd work so well together. 🎉
The fact that you are a #1 sims stan but also do not accept any BS from EA and are completely transparent in how you speak on all these behind the scenes things is so insanely respectable and just makes me trust you so much more.
the price thing is odd because i got the kit for $5
Same
yeahhhh i got both and both were 4.99 for me, i think something was up with kaylas ea app specifically
it happened to mine as well
ea is scamming her specifically
They put my literal fireplace in the game?! Mine is also purely decorative lol
You look so good in this color!! I loved the pimple patches, my teenage sims will use them every night! The kits are really great
omg i just saw the coffee table and it's SO PERFECT
I LITERALLY SAID "I hope they asked lilsimsie abt her name being like that on the main menu" THATS CRAZYYYYYYY
Momo is gonna love those pimple patches 😂 I swear I've seen them wear those exact stars multiple times
Ok.... I'm ready for Harrie's kits, and Felixandre... Myshunosun's kit looks awesome!
What a surprise???? I had no idea these were out today! I'm so excited to build with these!
As someone who’s favorite color is orange I am OBSESSED with the Cozy Kitch Kit. We needed literally any more orange swatches haha
They had the wrong price for the presale with life and death for a little while. It was 49.99 and I was like what’s happening, so I waited.
Starting to think they plan on raising the prices and they are trying to see how upset people will get about it. 😅
I've been subscribed to your channel for a while, keep it up!
My dream dining set is that round table with the colorful chairs in all different colors. Definitely getting both of these with the creator codes.
The build kit is GORGEOUS but I wish there was also a new flooring and wallpaper with them. Even just a new wallpaper that matched all the beautiful colours would have been nice 🥲
im honestly considering buying the slumber party kit just bc of the nails
I'm playing the Tiny Town 2 challange right now and the build pack seems to be perfect for Jim, who has an eclectic style! I love it!
My favorite part of the whole video was how excited and genuinely happy this build kit made you.
Once the pricing error gets fixed, I’ll buy them. I really like the Cozy Kitsch one.
I’m sad there’s no styled outfits as someone who doesn’t enjoy cas that much but still likes to have their sims dressed nicely I rely on those so much
i’m really glad EA did this because i play on console and want cc SO BAD😭
Thank you for explaining the codes/compensation upfront!
Usually a silent watcher and have been for years but after seeing Twitter this evening I can’t not say that the people being so mean don’t deserve to watch your videos! Whether they’re giving you hate or defending.. it’s crazy.. All you do is add to everybody’s love of the sims and create a safe and happy community that have also done so much for charities together 💗 keep being you bestie
CC Creators truly are the backbone of the Sims!!
Also have the exact same slippers for me and my girls at my wedding {heart eyes}
literally cheating for money to use the new cabinets as a tv stand as you speak!!! Also loving this pack as well!!!
In addition to your pure joy and delight playing Sims 4, I always appreciate your ethics. THIS is why I've watched you for years and will continue to.
so excited for the cozy kitsch kit but im a little disappointed the cas kit doesnt have anything for kids bc giving my sims families matching pjs wouldve been so cute
17:29 i got unexpectedly emotional cuz we had a green painted stool just like that all throughout my childhood and it gave me nostalgia lol just thought id share
I'd like to request an Orange NSB apartment with this new kit
Your work on this is so clear!
kayla’s eyes are so prettyyy 💚🍃
Getting ONLY 5 percent of the cost for your work is crazyyy, but it's so EA honestly😅
I can binge these videos all day!
Thanks for asking us to use their creator codes, I wouldn't have thought to on my own!
This build kit is going to go soooo well with pastel pop and lovestruck! I wonder if there’s any other packs that would go well with it
Speaking of Pumbella lol that build kit will work nicely with her build kit!
The slumber party kit is a great teen kit . . I like that we need more teen things. . I'll be getting both kits
18:37 that Charli xcx reference🍏
Your integrity, authenticity, honesty, and transparency is always so very refreshing and appreciated
