If tanks had thoughts, when that Churchill was fired up for the first time it must have though "*Cough *cough God almighty, how long was I asleep for!? And where's my bloody head gone!?!"
As someone who loves the Churchill tank, I express deep thanks to the effort you are putting in to restore these Churchills, it's funny, a friend of mine was actually telling me about this project earlier and I've accidentally stumbled across your channel. Seriousl though, good effort and well done!
I did a multi-period reenactment in the field next to that museum about 15 years ago. Took the opportunity to suss it out. They've got a good collection of kit in there. If you are into military vehicles, it's worth it to go across and check it out.
it's very thick but also very flat. It's about 4 inches thick or so but the m4 sherman had an equivalent armor of 3.6 inches, so ultimately both are not going to stop a whole lot bigger than a 75 at best.
Gonna have to say if you want the highest chance of survival you want the Sherman. The Sherman had a ratio of 0.6 crewmen lost per tank, so you had a really high likelihood of survival.
@@Citizen_Snips1 Careful about the statistics. There were a lot more Shermans than Churchills, many of whom were never hit. So each brew-up that killed the whole crew had a correspondingly smaller effect on the statistics.
@@jamestheotherone742 The British post war document that had this number also had one for Churchills, I dont recall the exact number but it was higher.
I’m not expert in a restoration procedures, but do You have a fire truck on standby? You know, just to prevent such events like the B-29 ,,Kee Bird”. I may be a little bit overprotective, but hey, it’s a Churchill tank, and it’s worth every kind of safety precautions. I’m so pleased to hear it running.
That's badass, seeing it move, you guys should team up with War thunder so they can get better engine sounds, and add your restored tanks into the game
Pretty sure they put them to better specs today than they did during the war. A Memorial T-34 is better quality by miles than the ones that actually saw combat.
Why don't these drivers set the throttle at 1500-2000 rpm and drive around like that??? They try to shift into second, third and higher at 700 rpm? I'm amazed, why don't these drivers go visit some farmers in the area and ride with then for awhile...

+Biggles Sounds like me after I wake up from a crazy Saturday night.
+Biggles Bloody hell... That was some high octane stuff!
Yes
Churchill IV: now i want a sigar
Tiger 131: My head I CAN MOVE MY HEAD!!!!

Google was listening 😱
That’ll be your phone spying on you.
Brilliant, great job

Its amazing to see these tanks coming back to life after all your efforts, keep up the great work guys!
Great to see the Churchill on the move!
Good job, I like the engine sound - one of my favorites :)
Judging by the thickness of the armor, I would have felt the safest in a Churchill I think. That is, among allied tanks.

@Matthew Caughey Why even talk about an arcade style game? It's not even close to realistic

By far my favorite British tank.

Without the turret, a troop carrier
With the turret and you get a Bradley.
Always loved the way this tank looks. Particular Mk. III version :D
The Tea Titan makes hills look like speed bumps
Hydraulically operated throttle? And I thought we germans tend to everengineer....
I'm sure the Germans thought of it first.
They were going to go with electrical, but the lucas solenoid, well, you know.
jetzt heul mal nicht rum wir haben eine 109 die nach 75 jahren noch fliegt

I've never seen a more disturbing tank than a Churchill with no turret
It’s more disturbing when they made the Churchill chassis based tank destroyer.
Chinggis Han, the 3” Gun Carrier?
EvMann
Indeed
That thing just doesn’t look right at all.
Looks like a Churchill with Down syndrome
The first run is always the best
She's almost fit for service again!

+The Churchill Trust is the Churchill capable of neutral steer, because i keep hearing that it was
I don't think so, but I might be wrong.
No, Churchill's aren't capable of neutral steer. I don't think any WWII-era British tanks were.
I heard from lindybeige it could
Vividian The Churchill can in fact neutral steer as seen here: th-cam.com/video/UfxuBPu7OtU/w-d-xo.html
Skip to 3:16
I saw a weak spot at 4:07, the driver hatch and it was open!!
But happens to the poor buggers rusting away in the back ?
How does the steering mechanism on this tank work?
2:20
This need more funding
I want to drive it
I beleive you have a Churchill 'Kangaro' there haha
I’ll buy one!
i can't put my finger on it but something seems to be missing
Any churchills going spare?? My dream tank to own one day🤣. The mk8 is probably my favourite with a 3.7inch howitzer😄
Why over engineer a throttle with hydraulics. Are they that heavy. Steering, brakes I can understand.
Churchill Spyder Superleggera =D
Why don't these drivers set the throttle at 1500-2000 rpm and drive around like that??? They try to shift into second, third and higher at 700 rpm? I'm amazed, why don't these drivers go visit some farmers in the area and ride with then for awhile...
Maybe they are the experts here and they know how to drive tanks
ít´s a Leyland gear box.?
Merritt-Brown
It's a Churchill Kangaroo!
were those churchills in the background ? and if so what will happen to them ? will the get restored ?
Probably part donors...
They belong to the guy stood in front of them. They have been used as donor's but they will get restored. They are both the later mk 7.
Engine producer ?
Vickers i suppose.
It a flat 12 bedford engine. Its not very good really but it did the job.
Bedford 2 bus engines stuck together
So long story short, typical British tank
TENNOU
okay another tank will be smash up by the Tiger.😉
All it's good for is pulling a plough, as a fighting vehicle absolute shit!
