The plot of the show is basically some massive burst of energy went across the globe and petrified everyone on it, and only thousands of years later does the main character, who is a scientific genius, somehow becomes unpetrified and makes it his goal to rebuild civilization and unpetrify everyone. Since so much time passes most buildings and stuff have decayed and crumbled. Really good show, and actually teaches you a lot of cool science. Also, his dad's an astronaut, so that's why he was looking to the stars, so it's not really lame lol

None of that is a spoiler, it's the basic plot device of the show that happens on the very first episode. Plus the first season came out over 3 years ago in 2019, and we are multiple seasons past that now. Even if it was spoilers, which it's not, it's something that's been out for a decent while now. The openings and endings he watched spoil plot points way more than my explanation did. All I said was a synopsis of the plot to help him understand the basics of what he was seeing and possibly give him an interest in starting the story.

Yeah Dr. Stone takes place in the future. If I remember correctly there were exactly 6 people who didn't get petrified, but... A lot of time has passed and they didn't live long enough to get back with the main character and co. and yeah, moon is important. About this series... Do yourself a favor and watch it. It's amazing.
I've finished the manga, you kinda caught the detail that I missed when I watch the anime this is without context but the moon is where it all started and where the journey will end

What you call plot is like if in One Piece the plot was the death of Roger, which is only what triggers Luffy's plot. You're confusing the triggering event with the plot. 🙂
