  • A new #Netflix documentary "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" explores the gruesome story of serial killer #JeffreyDahmer. But the hit show has received mixed criticism from media and family members of the victims.
Court TV cameras were inside the Wisconsin courtroom in 1992, where a jury was tasked to decide whether Dahmer, who pleaded guilty to the murders and dismemberment of 15 boys and men, should be sentenced to life in prison or admitted to a mental institution.

Yeah Evan Peters deserves a Oscar for that! I was born in 93...so i was a baby pretty much when the trial was happening...but i remember him qnd hearing about him all the time even when i was in high school ppl would dress up as him or have posters of him or whatever. I also remember the night stalker, Gacy, Ted Bundy, Manson, the Son of Sam, the golden state killer, then also the real life leather face, the real life scarface, and the other Movie i watched called "Monster" about Alieen who was pretty much the worlds first female serial killer and she was a hooker too. And i could go on and on, But i am a huge true crime person obviously ...i saw the Movie "My friend Dahmer" with Ross in it and that was good but the new Series with Evan is amazing, he is a great actor!

Had he been treated early on for his mental health issues, medicated, monitored...and not given so many opportunities by police and judges to continue doing what he did, MAYBE his life story would've been completely different. There are hundreds and thousands of children growing up in poverty with absent parents because both parents are working more than 1 job and these kids don't grow up to become serial killers 🙄. Anyone who tries to attribute Jeffrey's actions to his childhood has just lived a privileged life.

Dude on TV - The reason serial killers become “larger than life” is tantamount (equal to) a plane crash. They are far and few between. Someone who does the things that JD did are not just your average crime(s). They in essence are “larger than life” because the average normal person on the street would never contemplate committing these types of crimes.
These serial killers like JD, JG, TB are romanticized because they are so rare - just like I said - a plane crash.
The folks AC had murdered were “in the game”. They knew they could be murdered on any given day of the week. Not comparing apples to apples when you discuss JJ and AC to serial killers like the above referenced.

I think the courts should define insanity by a defendant's capacity to be rehabilitated. That determination would need to be made after a verdict. Plenty of insane people are fit to stand trial.
That being said, the way our system is set up I don't think it would have changed the outcome as far as sentencing.
Ideally, for the purpose of long-term observation and study, these people should be locked up in maximum security mental institutions, not to be side-tracked by medication, bibles or attempts at rehabilitation.

They were good police. and extremely remorseful after he found out what happened.
The police followed all necessarily procedures. The only thing these police should have done was check in on Dahmer's details by radio, and even then, that does not mean Dahmer's crimes would have been discovered. He may have only been charged with assault and dragged off to the police station.
Also the boy was examined by the the Milwaukee Fire Department rang by the police. 2 of the 3 said said he had no injuries and needed no treatment.
That is why they got their jobs back. The Netflix show doesn't like to show that, because it won't stir tensions between people.
Dahmer DUPED them, just liked he duped other police, a judge, his parole officer, his family, his victims...
Do people really expect these police to have thought that in the house there were dead body parts, severed heads in fridges, etc.? No one would expect that!
They simply thought it was 2 extremely drunk lovers who got into a quarrel and Dahmer provided evidence that they were a couple. They looked into his room and saw nothing. There was no evidence of the young child being hurt except for a small knee injury. How were they to know he was drilled in the head? Or do people walk around a lot with holes drilled in their heads?
If the police are too intrusive, then everyone says they are overstepping the line and infringing on our rights.
Instead of blaming the police, blame Dahmer for causing all of this.
Even the lawyer who prosecuted Dahmer did not believe these police did anything substantially wrong, but all these gooses watch a Netflix show and think they know more than those who were there lol
And the partner off this officer was a homosexual (as confirmed by Pat Kennedy).

when the medics say "yes, he is OK", and they have some smooth talking scumbag (Dahmer) showing evidence that they were partners, and there was no other evidence, what could they do?

multiple times through interviews and confessions he noted that he knew what he was doing was completely wrong and drank alcohol to essentially supress any feelings about the crimes and he even drank himself into oblivion trying to forget his first murder for 9 years

it’s not on the society. if you kill hundreds of people everyone is gonna know who tf you are. killers becoming “famous” is bc of them doing all the killings in the first place. and it’s not every criminal. you don’t see netflix series about bank robbers. we as a society probably can’t even name any famous bank robbers

Dahmer is worse than Manson? Murdering a husband & wife, carving “war” in the man’s stomach & leaving a fork sticking in his stomach? Killing 4 friends in front of each other? Stabbing some of them over 50 times? Stabbing an 8 month pregnant woman? Writing horrible things in the victims’ blood? Dahmer was horrible but he at least drugged some of them before killing them. Mansion’s victims were wide awake when they were murdered and could see & hear their family/friends being murdered at the same time!
All of Dahmer’s Jesus crap leaves me sickened.

I also think Dahmer was a bit better in terms of ideology and worldview (not by much but still) given Manson was apparently a Insanely racist and misogynistic guy.

Manson didn’t actually murder anyone himself. He was just a master manipulator and got his followers to murder for him.

I still don't know why he did all those horrible things to the innocent men. When he is homosexual, then just be yourself and go out in this world, show your true self, and maybe someone will stay with you.. because you can't force someone to stay with you... right? if you just sided with God, maybe you might never done those things.

He was a necrophile. He wanted dead bodies not live boyfriends. I'm not saying that is understandable, it's insane and evil.

clearly you’re not understanding. he’s not a normal person. his mind works differently than us he didn’t wanna have a boyfriend. he wanted dead bodies he could control. you will never know ‘why’ he did the things he did bc you’re not him and don’t think like him

Because he was very very sick! He didn't want the things that people with normal brain wants! He wanted to control them and that's why he wanted to create zombies he didn't want to kill them even he said it!He didn't want to do that part!!!! He wanted their bodies, and control. Didn't want to deal with emotions!

Dahmer always said he felt bad and or guilty but at the same time, always said he couldn't be stopped and that he would do it again if he had opportunity. So which is it?

It means he had certain addiction problem(s). He also seemed to have a vast sexual appetite which kinda propelled him to this crazy situation.
