What a great video ! Gonna do Idaho this summer, and was not planning on the Grit, & was not really aware of its existence. But I am now!!! Im very tempted to try it. BUT, I wonder how tough it is? If its 50 + miles of tough single track a day at elevation I have to believe its over my level. What is your opinion of the singletrack? I have lots of years riding but I am an average rider and a biscuit shy of 60, who wants to see 61. I'm thinking about a plan for next year though.
Check out the Ridaho.info website there are different levels to chase.we were going for gold which meant 150+ miles per day with 60/70 single track per day. We did not get the gold. Went back in 2020 got the gold on the grit3 ride. I would recommend using a few days of the track to go explore then you will have a better idea of what it takes. If you chose complete a grit it takes full commitment. It’s an awesome adventure. G3 vid is on my ig page @gorillamotov
@@gorillamotov thanks ! I will check it out. We will do some exploring on this trip to get an idea of how it is I have looked at the Grit site and it is very impressive how this network is maintained , thanks for all who keep this thing rolling !!!
thanks for making the video I enjoyed it. what bikes did you all ride? sounds like you were riding a ktm 500 if so would you take that bike again or would you have preferred a 350 bit lighter? what was the most fuel you needed to carry for the longest section? about what kind of MPG did you all get?
hi Jimmy, I rode a 500, the following year rode the 500 on the grit3 will do 2 and 4 this summer. I am heavier than iw Ould prefer at 225 dry so the 500 works for me but can def understand why some would prefer the 350. 5 gallons on day 4 I think for 180 miles. I thing mpg was around 37/40. it is a wonderful expierence highly recommend it
That is not a ride for out of shape or lacking in the required skills set. Crazy how you seem to be in a far out single track and you come upon a very nice bridge. Must be to keep everybody out of the creeks for the creeks sake. I would use a gummy tire like a Dunlap AX81EX with the Tubeless system on that ride and use 2 or 3 of them?
billnova1 they are different. I have heard the toi is 3 days longer with less single track. If done right they will both challenge you. It is a great adventure
I just completed the TOI in August of this year. Anxious to ride the Grit next. They both appear similar just the length. 13 days for this current TOI ride.
I think I need to do this.
Badass guys! What where you guys riding 500s?
1 350 2 500’s😊
Great video! Having ridden mostly desert for the last 20 years, I look forward to the trees of Idaho when I complete my move up there this winter.
awesome , in so many ways, congrats and thanks for sharing.
HOW did you like the section in the Clearwater and St Joe natl forest area?
No bad sections. Idaho by moto is dream ride
Excellent video boys!!
much appreciated

Looks like black peak at 28:20. Along the centennial trail?
Phil Ward I believe it is. Was day 6 before gold creek lodge and after Wallace.

Idaho has an amazing network of trails and their management and upkeep is top tier. I used a shinnko 525 120/18 one tire whole ride
The forest services rangers airlift those bridges up in prefab kits. We ride up to the spots and help them put the bridges together!
Any difference between grit and tour of Idaho ? Just a different name ? Different route ?
