Glad to hear that the videos have been helpful. I recently started working on some lens reviews, and new content will be uploaded in the near future. Cheers!
I love a zoom that extends when going wide. They are great for street photography, you can be standing next to people, zoom out to 35mm, and it looks to them like you're zooming in to something far away 🙂 I used this trick a lot with the Pentax DA16-45 and it's the reason I didn't like the 17-70 I replaced it with so much.
I don't know when you went to Monument Valley, but I went pre-season, had perfect weather, stayed at the lodge in the valley, and really had the place to myself. I'd hit the Goulding's restaurant, and it was so slow, my Navajo waitress sat with me and we talked about many things....
I had one of these for a while, I never could get used to how front heavy it was on my camera. I replaced it with the Olympus 35-70 f/3.5-4.5 which has given me quite satisfactory results in the package the size of a 50mm 1.4, and a little extra utility with its close focus feature
Very very nice review ,I am a zuiko vintage Lens lover. Have a good day.
1:06 Great to see there have been masters of photography (Andre Kertesz, the man who believed behind the camera there should be someone who wants to express himself, with some feeling) actually opt to use zoom and not prime! But then at that price tag, one had to sell a car to get it! I'm just wondering how inferior were the F4 or the variable F3.5-4.5 versions of this OM lens?! or rather, how would they be compared to this gem. Thanks a lot for sharing such great content.
It is definitely refreshing to see Kertesz using a zoom especially this late in his career!! I personally really enjoy using vintage zooms, because a lot of them are actually great! And as I mentioned in the video a lot of the pro zooms from back in the day were super expensive, oftentimes more expensive than prime lenses. It’s amazing that now we can try these excellent lenses for just a fraction of their original price! Nowadays zooms are considered inferior and many people don’t ever bother trying them, but I think that many of them are very capable lenses with great optics and unique qualities. Not sure how this Zuiko compares to the other two 35-70mm versions of this lens. Haven’t tried them yet. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the content of the channel. Thank you!!
I always wanted to buy this lens, but there is not much info about it on the internet and it is not that easy to find. I have the Minolta MD 35-70/3.5 Macro which is superb! I took that zoom on a trip to Turkey and I found it incredibly versatile and useful. As an Olympus and Minolta fan I would like to see a comparison between both lenses.
It's true - there is not that much info about this lens, which is why I decided to feature it here on the channel. I love making videos about lesser known lenses. It's great to hear that you also appreciate vintage zooms and that you enjoyed using the Minolta MD 35-70mm f3.5, which is another fantastic lens! Definitely one of the best 35-70mm vintage zooms out there!!
@@VintageOptiks Tamron is not bad, nice rendering and great close up capabilities suited for Ir. Less so for UV. The Nikkor seems contrastier and sharper and is a bit compacter ( f4.5 at 70mm) also good for ir. I'll make some comparison images soon. ( Z7 has a thinner sensor stack, Sony cameras are very demanding for compact lenses, especially for wide angles.

For m4/3 sensors, the exceptional definition @70mm = 73 pairs/mm means a 1971 pixels vertical definition (13.5 x 73 x 2=1971 pixels). So you get more than a rich HD (1080 pixels). You can try 4K if you need to. Bokeh is good, neutral, not disturbing, but does not have the fascinating character of some monster zooms. Bokeh must be more impressive on Full Frame for sure.
