    I love that you turned your volume knob up even though you're not plugged in. Also.... You're the shit and you should know that! Good video.

    hey sam, this lesson inspired me to learn this style of vibrato, I am really liking it but I am struggling to execute it low on the neck like on the 3rd Fret G note, do you still use this vibrato that low on the neck and do you make any adjustments to get more force into it ?

    • @kingsammyc
      @kingsammyc  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure its harder on the lower frets. 2 things help me hugely, light strings and big fret wire. Best of luck!

    I watched a great vibrato lesson, and the exercise that they showed was to play each note on the fretboard with each of the four fingers. As you go along, you'll notice that some are very easy to bend and some are not. Write down which ones you struggle with and really focus in on those fingers. For me, the easiest was something like my middle finger on the 12 fret G string. So, why would I waste practice time with that? Try your ring finger on the low E 1st fret. Work on that and the rest and you'll be vibrato-ing like a mofo in no time.

    So, Sam. I've been using the pivot method for as long as I've been playing guitar, and I can't grasp how you're using this technique without having your thumb permanently off the neck. It seems like you have to re-adjust your whole hand when you want to vibrato a note, and again afterwards. It's just a total mind trip for me. Do you use this technique when bending? And how about if you're vibrato-ing two or more notes at a time?
    I understand, and can apply the removal of the thumb for just doing vibrato on its own, but I'm curious about how it fits in with the other aspects of your playing. - Thanks! :)

      You can't bend with your hand off the neck as it's needed for a pivot. It's just practice on the vibrato though. But worth it. When you play notes high up the neck it's often easier to take your thumb off the neck up there for access. Sam will know what I mean and perhaps put it in a video.

      Hey bro. I only use this technique when I'm putting vibrato on an un-bent note. Also it doesn't really work with double stops. Like I said though, its all personal preference. If the pivot method is working for you then it's all good!

    Thank you for that video. I've always do my vibrato like that, thinking that I was wrong. Now I know that my vibrato exist, this is the great Clapton Vibrato and I love it ;) Now i will work to improve it instead of changing it. Thanks!

    I realized the other day I do vibrato different than a lot of guitarists, but you're doing it like me in here. I see a lot of guys doing vibrato with the flat of their finger, not the tip. It seems like it would be harder that way, as you don't have as good of leverage, but most people seem to do it that way. Maybe I'm missing something =)

      Jason Fella vibrato is like voice inflection. Everyone does it a little differently.

    one can not go down when speaking of the Hendrix style in the 2nd fret other wise it leave sorta a pull off type thing that will not work for that song. Bad example. But thanks for thanking the time for a Vib lesson.

      if you did go down on the 2nd you would be forced to come back up.

    Hi Sam, Fellow Sam here!
    I have a question if you don't mind!
    I'm really wanting a Charvel So Cal, and i was wandering how you would compare your Japan made one, to the new MIM ones?
    Thanks!

    • @kingsammyc
      @kingsammyc  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      both are great, the hardware is slightly different and the MIM has a recessed cavity for the floyd rose. Pretty much the same guitar though man!
