The way the whole room fell into awkward silence, the look on smiths and rocks faces, even the way he approached rock, including what will smith said afterwards as to why being censored, i have a VERY hard time believing this was staged
The slap itself looks weird to me and also Smith is leaving the stage with this weird grin/smile? I don't see why he would be slapping the shit out of Rock and leave smiling right away.
So does that mean he is mad or not? Technically if he was in his feeling, I don’t think smiling and going down blank-faced with an insult after is really convincing.
completely untrue, why would anyone like to get hit like that? I can guarantee you the only reason Chris didn't hit back was because he knew he had to keep cool, but he certainly didn't enjoy it and no other comedian would. I don't know why people are so obsessed with being "relevant" for a moment that they forget that comedy is an actual career and shortlived fame will get you nothing if you want to be successful longterm. why would a comedian want something like that to happen? being in the news for that is certainly not going to build them an audience that is coming to hear their material. if anything the fact that so many people are siding with Will on this could easily lead to people who are offended by a certain joke to try to do something similar and that could create a genuine safety risk for perfomers. there always has to be a shared understanding between audiences and performers that it's just a show and it's not about being personal and if that gets broken the whole thing stops working essentially.
Omg moist is legit predicting everything perfectly almost like he’s seen it, he’s saying “omg what if he is the best actor” and “well what is he gonna do cry?” Lmfao yes that little cry baby did all those things with a cherry on top
Obviously this wasn’t a “planned bit,” but what makes that even more obvious is simply the fact that a main TV network would never in a million years allow someone to scream, “KEEP MY WIFE’s NAME OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH” twice on an internationally broadcast television program meant for families and old people, and supported by multimillion dollar ad spots.
The tweet says it's sourced from the uncensored version (presumably) from Japanese TV, you can hear an interpreter translating what Chris Rock is saying. It was probably censored when the moment actually aired.
@@sly5796 It was uncensored live here in Australia and from what I hear was uncensored in quite a few international broadcasts. I think our censors just don't care as much about the oscars as the US ones
Knowing Hollywood, they wouldn’t capitalise on this, they’d rather forget about this to save face, a positive reputation means more to them than actual morals.

Same lmao, Chris' joke went from a forgettable part of something a good chunk didn't even know existed to the most talked about joke in the world right now, all because Will chose to act like a 12 year old having a tantrum
No way it's staged: Chris Rock is visibly shaken - he fumbles his lines afterwards. And staging something like this serves nothing but to make Smith look like an asshole. It would possibly be even worse if it was staged because it would be a gross and juvenile attention grab which would only serve to ruin any shred of respect the Oscars had going for it
my first thought was that I couldn't be fake purely on how tight Will has tried to keep his public image. A slap can be played off as real but him screaming and cursing on live international TV is whole other thing.
He probably just saw that his wife was hurt, that hurt him, and he thought violence was the answer. There are better ways handle this, he's just endorsed violence as an answer for hurtful jokes.

@@kenseym5272 makes great material
completely untrue, why would anyone like to get hit like that?
