That is very amazing however , you failed to mention who the founder of Wheeling West VA. was or the Fort Henry which was the battle ground . Betty Zane who was the heroine , running gun powder to the Fort. Col.Ebenezer Zane Woods was my 5th Great Grandfather and Betty Zane was his sister along with 2 other brothers ! Col.Ebenezer also built a courthouse and in his will , said ," If this court house was torn down that the land should go to the rightful heir's" however , that never happened ! My Father was born across the river in 1910 Griffith Zane Watkins , and I am his daughter. Griffith Zane passed away in 1991 .as did all his siblings and the few of us that remain are wondering how that Court House burned . I read that will and got a copy of that will before it burned . Strange how things happen .
Why were the developers building parking garage after parking garage....even the waterfront and historic port made into a parking garage! Are they full of cars? Does anyone use them? Asking for a friend
That's the main complaint everyone has about modern Wheeling. Businesses are slowly leaving and have been for many decades yet they are putting up more parking lots and garages. No one seems to know why I've asked many people. When you drive through the city most of these parking lots are empty or only slightly occupied.
This had to be made in the late 80's, early 90's.. Somebody should do an updated version because a lot has changed since then.
Thank you for the memories Jim.
god bless wheeling! my daughters were born and raised here. miss it.
I wish Wheeling still looked that good. It’s really gone downhill sadly.

My father worked in the Hawley Bldg. when I was a kid.
My Grandfather worked for the B&O Railroad his entire life. This is where he went to work everyday.
Oh my
"Put up a parking lot". The car has a lot to answer for...Varied Victorian buildings like so many demolished for bland boxes.
