Amen! Chickens are great! I got my first 6 hens last year, and I got more later, and I want more! I really enjoy them, very relaxing to just go out and watch them peck around...
I don’t put in any storage - just in it’s bag in a closet and is 5th yr and is fine -( flour) Where I live in WI I see no shortage in foo 😅n my local stores- Sugar gets a little hard -- just put whole bag in grocery bag and gently drop on hard surface and they losen up and R fine
I made Yrs back out of frozen bread loaves - doughnuts- Cut slices when loaf is frozen and aftet a minute put hole in middle - and fry in oil in fry pan - Came out great - I didnot leave them rise- These U eat immediately- get tuff if U keep for later- We dipped in a little sugar- Did for breakfast
@@marlenecardinahl9346 I do not shop much but I see no shortage either, just outrageous prices😊 Not sure white flour goes bad, especially if you get the bromated junk. Rather looses nutrition, but still fills the belly. Whole wheat on the other hand will go rancid.
I am new here. I am 67 and adopted 7 grandkids 10 years ago. I have 4 left and live in Ca. After the cost to live here there isn't much left. I watched a food video you had last year it was so helpful. Please do more❤️
Lard makes the flakiest pie crust - yum! Thankfully Massachusetts still has quite a few farms that provide grass fed beef and other meats along with eggs, etc. There's even a farm that is allowed to sell raw milk here. Found them online.

I’m a senior citizen, and I am overwhelmed, trying to figure out what kind of solar generator it would take to run my refrigerator and my freezer if the grid goes down. I’ve been told by the city it’s illegal to use my well for drinking water that I must use city water; however, that said, I’m still gonna put a solar pump on it in case the grid goes down. At least I can boil the water to use it. And I did buy a water purifier.
I'm sorry you're overwhelmed and offered no help. I live in the county and have county water but also a well on my property. the reason your told you can't use your well, which I would guess is better quality, because your city would lose revenue from your location. I would use my well if I were you. this is just me I don't know your laws. also regarding a generator I'm not experienced but learn a lot from a TH-cam channel called, Alaska Prepper. he is very kind and informative and has quite a few videos regarding generators and which he recommends. I hope this helps you some. stay safe my sister. from one senior to another. God bless you
@@sylviabeam8483 Yes, that’s what the city warned me about was if my water intake went down, they would cite me for using my well. And I said well what if I just turn my water off from the city because I know I have a couple of leaks that I’ve been trying to get dealt with, but trying to find a plumber. And she told me that if I deviate from my current bill which is $100 a month that they would have to come out and see what I’m doing. I knew having to move to a new state by myself, was going to be tough. I just had no idea it was gonna be this hard.
We have a house full of Gluten-free people so making bread is much more Involved. Buying it is expensive. And stocking up on the special flours is also expensive. Man prepping is much more complicated with food allergies!!!
and cherokee purple actually produces while being a heirloom. San marzano does not require peeling for sauce or salsa saves a lot of time and you would never know we did not peel.
I can bake bread by hand but most of the time I just use my bread machine. If the machine ever broke though I would still be fine. Now I am learning to make pasta.
FYI: From a massage therapist point of view I'd find a good licensed massage therapist in your area to help with your arm/arthritis. I actually trade services (Ky) with certain clients for things like eggs, meat, etc. Just a suggestion. 🙂
I use my Breadman bread machine only to make dough because I can't do the kneading.. I have never oiled my machine. After it rises the first time I take the dough out onto a floured surface and cut in half. I work it out about an inch or so thick and fold it into thirds, turn it fold into thirds again and place each half crease down into greased bread pans. I cover, let it rise and bake it in my oven. It is beautiful, yummy bread that slices beautifully.
We have some shortages, but mainly high price issues. We're Southern Central Oregon. Plenty of eggs, because of prices. We have chickens. No other animals, because we dont want to deal with the snow removal at our age. Formula is low when I looked. Plenty of meat due to local ranches. And again potatoes and onions due to farms.
I have been watching you since the little farm with all the trees, animals and garden. I remember those videos. :) We have a garden and hope for a better one this year. We have an egg lady across the street that we can buy eggs for $3. I have some freeze dried and will be freeze drying more next week. We buy a 1/4 cow at a great price and it is all grass fed. Great video. Thank you!
According to the book "Nourishing Traditions" because of the processing most oils are rancid when they are bottled. 🤢 I live in Tillamook, OR and our butter is $5 to $6 a pound.
We bought my daughter a egg incubator for Christmas. And she just hatched 8 new babies....she already has a large flock but now she will be able to hatch instead of purchase new chicks.
Thanks for the flour tip, the birds poke holes in all my tomatoes and the leaf-footed bugs destroy the rest. Praise God we have our chickens, but the freeze here in TX killed all my citrus. I finally was able to buy more lemon, orange, and grapefruit trees, but it will be 5 more yrs before they produce. This last freeze froze all my veggies. So, I started over. Never ending.
get Bionature comes from Europe, you can tell it is fresh by the smell it should smell fresh, and even peppery not wildly expensive smells green . if it does not it is mixed with other oils or is not fresh
My favorite tomato, hands down, is the Pink Sudduth Brandywine. Best tomato for bacon and tomato sandwiches. Oh my..... And the Black Krim is definitely wonderful as well. Romas for sauce.

That devastating drought didn't just happen in Texas. We live in Arkansas and we had to sell half our herd in order to feed what's left over the winter and states all around us experienced the same.

CA here, we have been in drought for over 15 yrs, but our placed governor/s and as of late, Pelosi's Nit Wit Nephew, continues to dump excess water in San Fran Bay to dilute the run of from big companies and sewage run off, as well as letting the San Luis Obispo Reservoir continue to dump out to sea as well. All mountain aquafiers are full, and he hasn't found a way to drain those, which is a blessing, and our snow packs are so high, we have had avalanches, and they are trying to keep the estimation of water coming from that under wraps, though those of us who have lived here all our lives, keep reminding the newbies of the underground rivers 20 feet under rivers like the Kern River has been percolating back in the ground. The California aqueduct now has as a "mysterious" new salmon that is now being protected.🙄 In our neck of the woods in Kern County, we hit record rains, never seen before here to point we have not had to water anything for last six weeks, and out land is blessed with awesome percolating, and its still very well saturated, estimation a few more months. Unfortunately, the farmers here have been coerced to let farms go dormant and sell their alloted water to LA, being far more lucrative than farming their land. Many almond and citrus farms are being turned into solar farms. Miles and miles. Its so disgusting, especially when the converters last only ten yrs, and the solar panels are supposed to last 25 yrs, but each year the panels loose 3% to 5% of their production every year. Many here are praying fervently for a return to cultivating the land😇🙏 Note: we noticed peanut butter and and nut butter using palm oil on the grocery store shelves have a shelf life of Dec 2023, we understand they can last a year or two longer than date, but cannot find any with a date later. We found Palm oil manufacturing has halted due to a shortage of farming the base product.

Add bay leaves to and dried chillies to old cooking oil then use that oil in outdoor lamps to ward off flies and bitey insects.
