Pietà Signore (Haazina Elohim), Italian-Hebrew Baroque Gem

- “Pietà, Signore” (Have Mercy, O Lord), attributed to the Italian composer Alessandro Stradella (1639-1682), has been sung by most famous singers, including Luciano Pavarotti. However, there’s one rendition that fascinates me the most and I’ve decided to follow. It is by Cantor Gershon Sirota (1874-1943), in Hebrew, based on Psalm 55. A universal human cry for help. I hope you find this Italian-Hebrew Baroque music inspiring, and that it continues to live for centuries to come. Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom, or ‘Buon Sabato a tutti’!
