      Well, Your theory on missing movie file is right. What surprised me is the songs are not cut cause usually most NFS MW bootlegs I've seen only got engine audio.
      Bootleggers usually cut all the audio they can. That's how they fit a game like GTA San Andreas on a CD. No radio, no cutscene dialogue, no pre-rendered videos, minimal ambient noises and downgraded sound effects.
      That cd at 10:42 is sold by a bootleg house called NCH and that type of cover is their usual style. Put in some processor labels, age group, games for windows, 100% working and system reqs in the back. The Image is never related to the game (E.g. Medieval Rpg game had a helicopter on the cover)
      Also that type of "sequels content into early games mods" are very rare. Out of thousands of bootlegs I've only seen one of that type which I think was a wrestling game.

    Aw man, as a Malaysian this brought memories of me spending hours on CD shops to purchase bootlegged games....
    Fun fact: bootlegged copies may be sold for less than RM15 (or approximately $3 in the early 2000s). They also came in “combo packs” which may include other games from the same series (think GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas in a pack), and the installer they used clearly meant it was bootlegged as it would usually come in different languages, and keygens you have to use. Before you ask, no, nobody gave a shit on who’s selling bootlegged video games. Pirated movies, on the other hand, would always be heavily monitored by FINAS, our national film and arts department. These bootlegged movies and games are often sold in CD stores as aforementioned, but would also frequently appear in literal night markets. Night market operations are difficult though, as police crackdowns are frequent and getting caught selling and buying those meant jail time and fines.
    However, with the rise of faster internet connection these days for streaming and pirating CD stores are seen as archaic, and only can be found if you look for it properly. Bootleg markets on Malaysia lasted for more than 20 years, and is so ingrained in our culture that some of the older teens would still remember how to find a movie “bright” enough or crack games with keygens on the CD. Fond memories.

      but why go the extra mile to modify and change textures or features instead of just selling a pirated copy in a "legit" cd case

      @@billymercury3897 that's actually quite interesting
      I mean they do it as a cheapest way to make money
      Putting out a game with several DVD's sounds more expensive than just one DVD with different, older game. And even if the game with multiple DVD's was more expensive, then people would be more hesitant to buy it because they could buy more games with this money.

    • @billymercury3897
      @billymercury3897 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Robciomixxnfs It is definitely more expensive, and because of that most Bootleggers cut down on Storage of any Game they try to pirate.
      What's unfortunate is:
      1. It's a bootleg
      2. It's a bootleg that won't 100% Work.
      Regardless of pricing, there isn't a 100% Chance of bootleg games working. My experience from buying a shit ton of Bootleg Games in Sri Lanka, and almost none worked properly because an important file or 2 was missing.

    Here in brazil we have a ton of bootlags, the most of them are gta bootlags for ps2, GTA sonic, GTA Rio de Janeiro, GTA Tropa de Elite(a brazilian moovie) GTA 5(GTA san andreas mod for ps2 because a ps3 cost more dan 10k back in the day, and the minimum salary was like las than 500 brl) and a ton off more.

    Fact: if there is no cutscene right before the last pursuit it doesn't give you the m3 gtr
    Don't ask how do I know

    • @estebanthomas4866
      @estebanthomas4866 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmmm idk. I had a PS2 copy with out cutscenes, skipped the first 3 races that give you your first 30000 cash. It was a Black Edition but in spanish. I got the GTR at the end of the game but there were few weird things in that game: first, if you visualize rivals cars in main menu you lost one garage place for each view. Same if you visualize them in Quick Race but lost places in My Cars

      @rally7555 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This happened to me in my last playthrough, didn't regret it though, I got to jump the bridge in my Db9 and that looked dope. The way it happened is because I clicked out of the game when the cutscene was playing which made it freeze throughout most of it

    • @EW1R
      @EW1R 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rally7555 I guess it loads the last pursuit stuff during the cutscene and if you skip before it gets loaded you don't get the car (happened with kuru just search on youtube)

    Videos or over heavy content usually were cut from games not to use cheaper disks, but to fit many games on one. As 10 in 1 is indeed more lucrative than just single game.

    As a malaysian, I spend my childhood playing bootleg dvd copy of ps2 and pc games. Mostly are direct copy from original and runs perfectly but some shitty bootlegs have tendency to crash during gameplay, the disc is very cheap around 2 dollar each so easily can add up to my collection. I'm glad finally I was able to afford real copy of games from steam so I wont feel guilty about it lol

    While I don’t have any bootlegged version of any NFS, I do have a bootlegged version of GTA San Andreas. It’s called GTA Gaza, and it was sent to me when my uncle from Dubai sent his old PS2. I booted it up, and I immediately sensed that something was off. The player model was reskinned to look like a freedom fighter, and most of the music were Arabic music. Other than those changes, it’s basically GTA San Andreas

    I found some Arabic bootlegs of games at a thrift store I went to years ago. NFS Most Wanted was one of em. Should have grabbed em. I found bootleg PS1 games at another one I love going to. I wish I still had the photos but i found "GameStation" copies of 007 Racing and Tomb Raider Chronicles, which had a fake artwork and screen shoots of the first build of Angel of Darkness. Wish I still had that photos. Ed: i forgot to mention while I live in Canada during the late 90s and early 00s it was common to find bootlegs out in Richmond BC for fairly cheap then. I miss the modchip days.

    As a Croatian, I was very interested in getting games that were big back in the day and I would get bootlegged versions of games released around 2008-2009 in neighboring BiH, where it was probably harder to sell official copies due to a smaller market on digital software. Here, you could buy a legit copy for around €25 lol

    I have a suggestion for you. It is not necessarily a bootleg, because this was a partmership between EA & BMW. It is called BMW CyberRace. These are super hard to find, I have a disk for it but I can't make it run because of the Windows 98 requirement, which even for virtualization can be problematic for playing games. So this game is like a version of NFS 4(High Stakes/Road Challenge) but it has just BMW cars. Maybe it is worth checking around for it or whatever.
