- Today we look at the evolution of how far the United States GP has came from it's first proper race in the Formula 1 championship back in 1959 at the Sebring International Raceway all the way to the present at the Circuit of the Americas

Riverside looks mental in a modern F1 car.
Sebring and Riverside should be on the calendar instead of Miami and Vegas
@@jacobmassey3897riverside does not exist anymore
Lowkey I would love to see Miami replaced with Watkins glen we need more high speed tracks like that
As much as I like WG I'm afraid they wil have Hermann Tilke butcher the layout
Helmut Koenig's crash......
Watkins Glen these days is way too isolated, does not have appropriate accomodations and the track itself would need to have millions spent on safety improvements, which might include butchering what is otherwise a flawless track.
@@racingmhf9157with the halo a crash like that would be near impossible
That Phoenix layout from Wikipedia is wrong. It was similar but turn 2 was further along that street and a left hander, turn 3 another left hander before it turned right. They made some changes for the section after that for 91 and added a hairpin
Status of these tracks today:
Sebring: still exists, but shorter, more modern and different in character
Riverside: demolished in 1989; a shopping mall has been built over it (people who live in the Los Angeles area who went to races at Riverside still reminsce about it)
Watkins Glen: still exists as shown w/the chicane before the Outer Loop (that long, crazy right hander at the end of the straight); old pits were demolished sometime in the 80s
Phoenix: was never used again for any other series after 1991; some parts were built over with real estate
Indianapolis: still exists
Other US F1 venues:
Long Beach: still exists, is a little different now than it was then
Detroit: abandoned after 1991, but another variant using some of the same parts is coming back this year (Ew)
Dallas: abandoned; was used a few more times in the late 80s-early 90s in different variants for Trans-Am racing
Caesars Palace: parking lot where race was held was built over with a new convention center for the Caesars Palace hotel (Thank God)
I was wondering why this video had no comments for a second then I realised it's 15 minutes old
6:36 This is the Indycar layout of the road course at Indianapolis, not the 2000-2007 F1 layout.
it is the right one, indycar runs the chicane in oval t1
@@russianbubbawallace8681 driven in the opposite direction i may be wrong
@@hexostatus4658 that was MotoGP, only series I can recall running that direction
The indycar version also has a fast left right chicane between turns 5 and 7.
River side looks like a joy to drive in a modern F1 car
You forget Long Beach, Dallas and Detroit
imagine crashing into a hay bale
You included only "US GP" tracks? There were more like for example Dallas, Long Beach, Detroit and more you didn't notice, so just asking
Yes but only the main races that went under the name of the United States GP I know there was a lot of many more races in the US but those races went under the name of their own. I might do a video some point in the future where I include the entire history of every US circuit F1 have raced on but yeah
Road America GP❤
Hamilton has 6 wins at US GP. 5 at COTA and 1 at Indianapolis
The track layout of Riverside you used was the 1969-1989 version, you would need the 1957-1968 version if you want the original Riverside experience
Wow, never even lifted through the esses at Riverside. Impressive.
I think Hamilton has 6 wins in the USGP (2007, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) with 5 at COTA and 1 at Indy. The 2014-17 races all run together for me, but I know Vettel won in 2013, Raikkonen in 2018, Bottas in 2019, there was no race in 2020, and Verstappen won in 2021 and 2022.
What about Miami Detroit Long Beach Dallas and Las Vegas for F1
Where are Dallas, Long Beach, and Detroit?
Would love to see Vegas, Dallas, Detroit, Long Beach, Miami and other Vegas in a video, kinda like US GP but its street circuits lol
Actually Detroit and Las Vegas (Cesars Palace) are missing. But a very nice video mate.

Do las vegas future 2023 season ?
@@szymon6207 yes las vegas future 2023 season !
Ppl be complaining about the street circuits we get today but that Phoenix circuit looked like hot dookie garbage.
Indianapolis is my favorite.
2:03 riverside
sir leavis was robbed of this shitty videogame 😫
Americans just can't build good racetracks. I don't even like COTA, cause you literally got only two options to pass a car, turn 1 or turn 12, that's it... Don't get why people like this track tbh.
Imola has one place to pass
Miami has two places to pass but feels so fabricated
Albert Park has two places to pass
Spain has one place to pass
Monaco is impossible to pass
Baku has two places to pass
Canada has two places to pass
Silverstone has two places to pass
France has two places to pass
Hungary has one place to pass
I don't understand your point about having few places to pass
@@thomasmoseley9749 Whataboutism at it's best.
Tilke designed the COTA, not the yankees
for me it's more the layout. imo the Glen or Indy are nicer to drive than COTA
They like it because of the driving challenge. You could say that about a lot of circuits all over the world, including the ones in Europe. Brands Hatch- fabulous circuit, but really not easy to pass at; Nurburgring, same. Spa- there's 3 or so places to pass. Silverstone- same. Monaco- you can't pass anywhere easily.
Have you seen other racetracks in America (and also Canada)? Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta, VIR, Sears Point, Daytona, Mosport and Mont-Tremblant, and a number of others? You are so ignorant.
