    This is amazing. Everyone who downloads tons of vst or fills their studio with expensive synths should watch this. It’s all about the talent

    • @montazownianr1
      @montazownianr1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      With talent you can also play with expensive hardware, vst or whatever, so no valid point.

      I mean,, the outcome of this wasn't that great and it sounded wholly due to the source of the sound being kinda lame.

    • @mr.timusproductions116
      @mr.timusproductions116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone, who has a ton of VSTs and does look for more expensive gear, I still agree with you. You can do alot with some cheap stuff and effects. But that's not to say that expensive hardware doesn't require talent either.

    Wow! Beside the obvious talents, this also shows how much effects processing and mixing matters. The right effects on the right sounds put into a mix carefully is what made the extremely low-fi Fairlights (1 and 2) sounding so good in the first half of the 80:s!
    Every studio with a Fairlight back then had : 1. An extreme amount of great effects processors and 2.The best producers in the world.

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Agreed. And to me processing and mixing is just as much a part of sound design as tweaking oscillators, filters and envelopes.

    Beautiful!
    The first time I've heard a full tune from an SA-1.

    The Demo is Wake Me Up Before You Go Go! 🤣

    I have an SA-20 model with similar sounds.
    If one were to listen to a track like this without this creation video to know how it was created, they would have never guessed it was recorded using a PCM keyboard from the '90s as a starting point.
    Amazing talent! 🙂🥂

    The sure-fire way to make a cheap string patch sound majestic: Add plenty of reverb and delay, and slap a copious amount of Small Stone phaser on it just for good measure.

    You’re a genius ! This was the most inspiring video I saw in a very long time! Clearly shows that not the highest priced equipment make the success.
    Not only you got me to buy an M1 after your Video with these stunning preset creations I also had a look on my local selling app for such lofi keyboards and was able to find a Casio SA 10 in great condition with the original box for 20€ incl shipping. It’s basically the same thing than the SA 1 with exactly the same sounds and housing but it’s up to 4 notes polyphony. It’s simply amazing how many of the presets sounds awesome when you add a big long tailed reverb. I absolutely love this tiny thing and will try to create something with it as well.
    So thank you again for showing this. I had never thought about buying such a toy like thing to integrate this into productions.

    First of all, WOW! I'm not surprised at what you were able to achieve by running it through some effects and organizing all the tracks in a DAW; just the fact that you demonstrated what is possible is beautiful. Now... I know it's old technology. But Casio even back then couldn't make it at least a 3-note polyphony? Shame on them. Even in 1990, that was achievable. They should have gotten rid of some of the clunkier patches or the demo and made it 3-note poly. But hey, it's a toy, right? Anyhow, a job well done!

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also had a bigger version, the CA100, which probably had similar internals and bigger polyphony. Unfortunately that one has been lost in time. I read about people speculating that in theory its possible to add more polyphony to the SA1 but it would be quite a lot of work.

    Found one at a secondhand store in good condition for 6 bucks. Sounds nice even from the built in speaker

    Woohhoo... this distorted "Horns" have that dramatic Hans Zimmer vibe.
    What was the signal chain like?
    I've tried to make such a sound once and didn't get it... but I haven't tried such a simple source sound.

      It was the Quadrafuzz 2 (standard cubase plugin that really rocks), a DualFilter and Valhala VintageVerb.
      That sound turned out quite massive indeed considering its humble origins.

      @@Estuera I have to give that a try. I'm a Cubase user anyway :)

    Haha I have many of the same sounds and beats in my CA100, which my parents bought for my eldest brother when I was maybe 7 or so? The demo button is by far the best thing about it. In fact, I think the keyboard and I will be Together Forever

    Good reverb can make anything sound amazing. What else is new? ;) Nice composition though!

    This is definitely so Vangelis (my fellow Greek world known composer) sounding, sometimes you remind me how old composers approached the music creation process, they used anything from very expensive to very cheap to make their records that sold millions and hundreds of millios of records, what they actually sold was their huge talent.

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great compliment. I absolutely love Vangelis, I listen to all his albums from the first to the last second on regular basis.
      If I only could play as well as he could.

      @@Estuera He was self tought and all his playing was live, apart from some sequences eg the bass line from the 70s till his death, actually i am proud as a Greek myself about him but i know that apart from that most of us - and i strongly dought a lot about you on this case - wont be able to compose anything of interest even if we where given away all the gear he used and he had used hundreds of synths,drum machines etc. Actually the point is not to play well, many people play well, the point is to create something that was never been heard before like he did in the 70s - although he started with pop/rock back then in his early records with Aphrodites child - the real challenge is to be a pioneer. Another fine example was Kraftwerk. Imagine "We are the robots" in their first airplay. Anybody was asking himself and others "Hey what is that ?".
