Enjoyed your detailed explanation of the area. Having lived in Tokyo, I appreciate being close to the METRO station.
good video........coming to bangkok very soon and think im going to stay in ekkamai. hope its fun. I heard its not that far from nana plaza and im sure i can get to almost anywhere since where im staying is 5 minutes to the bts . im learning as much as i can
Ekkamai is great. My friend lives on Soi 63. Phrom Phong is also fun. Both are a close train ride to Nana or Cowboy. Thanks for watching. I'm out filming as I type. More looks around town to come.
@@EagerExpat Awesome........TY for the response......I am coming soon from South Florida. How long have you been there??? I am staying around that area for a month. I believe im staying at the life @ sukhumvit 65. i didnt book it yet but it seems NICE. Def want to take advantage of the fun there. Are you very familiar with Bangkok???? LMK
@@mikelee7972 I've been visiting since the 80s. I've lived here about a year, since I retired. Stop by the Hangover Bar on Soi 22 in Phrom Phong on Saturday night. Send me a msg. If I'm in town I normally stop by. Fun get together.
@@EagerExpat I get in on Saturday 5/13 so its a possibility if you are around!!!! It will be my first day ever in bangkok let alone southeast asia. at least i get in early saturday morning
@@mikelee7972 shoot thats election day. No booze. But we'll be there the next Saturday.
The bus fare is about $3.50, not $1.50
Yes it's about 130 baht. I said $1.50? Ill blame walking around filming for 4 hours that day. Still, it's a bargain.
Wyndham green is siam residence condo and is amazing quality and 31st floor pool and gym - japanese style, starts about 20k a month as of 2024
Some of those areas look very suspect. Not going out at night alone around there. Still can't get over all of the above ground wires that connects everything. Have you found the pad tai lady yet?
You need to do whatever makes you feel safe. I personally feel safe in any area of Bangkok. There are many poor parts of Thailand, but very little crime. I guess it's a Karma thing. You leave a backpack on your car seat in the richest part of San Diego. You'll have a 60% chance of a broken car window. In most parts of this huge city, maybe a 1% chance. I did find the Pad Thai. If you click on videos, it should pop up
We stayed in Ekkamai for 2 months out all hours in all the soi's NEVER AN ISSUE....matter of fact you could tell they were looking out for us not that they were worried about our safety more just a nurturing kind of way...we stayed at C Ekkamai and they the locals were absolutely beautiful and genuine people. We were walking some streets all over Bangkok at 2 or 3 in the morning and never an issue...but as usual always be aware of your surroundings...but we have never not felt safe in Bangkok.
Are you affected much by the current air pollution? Hopefully it will clear up completely by my visit in June.
Nah the pollution isn't too bad. It would be nice if they didn't burn the fields. But that happens in a half dozen countries in the area. It's still a large city but my view out the 27 floor is clear again. June will be fine
Hey Joe, have you been to Hom Duan for the khao soi?
I haven't. But, I just had really good Khao Soi in Emsphere. I forget the shop, but it's on the ground floor.
@@EagerExpat Thanks Joe! Please let us know if you have another subscriber meet-up. I'll be between Bangkok and Khon Kaen for the rest of February
How many “sois” are there in Bangkok?
Not sure. I'd guess thousands. Bangkok reminds me of New York City only larger
I have to stop editing at 2am. Spelled Ekkamai wrong in the thumbnail. Sorry about that. If you enjoy checking out Bangkok and other SE Asia spots, consider subscribing. I'll continue to make videos showing the streets in Bangkok and beyond. Thailand is amazing and a great place to visit, work or retire. I'll do my best to show you how to live affordably in SE Asia. Plus, enjoy some great side trips from Bangkok.
