The comments on here are quite frightening. Too many people conflating the issue of corrupt politicians and leaders with issues around ethnicity. This land grab thing is a scam and affects the Ga people disproprtionately by coincidence and not design. Accra being the administrative and commercial capital has meant everyone wants to come and live there and due to scarcity of land it can only be bought at a premium. This capital also happens to be the homeland of the Ga Adangme. Thus out of anywhere in Ghana just about everyone wants a piece of land in or near Accra Those in power have created a scam, to appropriate land under the guise of compulsory purchase orders citing that is necessary and in the interest of the nation to do so. The lands are not being used for the purpose they were intended for and as law of nation states, those who the land was appropriated from should have first refusal to buy it back. In the case of say Achimota it seems that is a non-existent entity or someone colluding with officials to reclaim the land so they can share it. Generally this is not happening elsewhere because land is not valued as much and even if you acquire land elsewhere its location is probably not conducive to any lucrative business opportunities. However there are examples outside of Accra . Western Region - Grel lots of land was acquired to grow rubber but now that land and the state asset was sold off to a private individual, someone in government or their family. The sale was a scam. Again in WR Ghana government has acquired this massive land saying it is for Ghana gas but the land area is far larger than what is needed, because people in government plan to share it. Whilst we need to deal with this corrupt lot we do not want conflict, it is not against Ga people the misappropriation is indiscriminate and driven solely by greed. The consitition and law needs to be changed in that land appropriated by the state is still vested in the families or stools from which it is taken. Where it is no longer used for the purpose bought the land revert back to them at no cost and automatically Otherwise as the law currently stands it is too easy for officials to appropriate land saying it is for one reason when in fact they really are using this law to share it amongst themselves !
You Gam3i are really a very funny people. I James Frankson TETTEY has always been telling you the Government of Ghana is your ENEMY but you will never believe. All the governments since Nkrumah have been your enemies. They have always treated you with disdain. The reason why they named our region Greater Accra is that they want Accra to be for all Ghanaians NOT Gam3i only. They don't want the region to be identified with one tribe.
Ghana is an opportunity for politicians
