That is weird to think about. The key thing is he's still fun as hell to play and not garbage. When I lose with him it's 90%+ me and not the character (okay in my case it's 100% me...cause I'm trash), and that's all that really matters.
DK is one of those characters that really deserves an updated moveset. No good oos and a bad recovery as a heavy really sucks for him. I’d love for him to have a combo-able projectile like his barrel. That would be incredible. Since Ultimate had a note of finality to it as Sakurai’s final smash game, I can see Nintendo shrinking down the roster, and changing up movesets and mechanics. Hopefully DK (and Ganon, he deserves to be more than a poor man’s Falcon clone) will see the changes they deserve
Agree with everything but his up-b oos has always been one of his saving graces, and in ultimate it's at its best point. It was never the best in the game, but it was always at least solid (except maybe 64 I dunno shit about 64 dk)

Great video, I was impressed by the knowledge you had going into the subject, it really seems like you know what you're talking about. The only minor issue I had with it is the music in the smash ultimate section making it distracting to pay attention to what you were saying at times. I will also say I don't like the Islanders.
Smash 64: Not suitable for the meta but made the most of what he had. Melee: Got some decent improvements but was overall outclassed. Brawl: A diamond in the rough with hidden potential. Sm4sh: His main time in the limelight and he enjoyed it while it lasted. Ultimate: A solid character but once again a victim of power creep.
This was a amazing video! Definitely earned you a sub, the transitions between games and discussion was amazing! It would be really interesting to see someone like Pikachu or Fox next, who have consistently been high tier for every smash game. If you’re doing more breakdowns of characters in smash, I’ll definitely be watching!

I've been on Donkey Kong main since 64 and I did pretty well in the melee and brawl local competitive scene. I both agree and disagree with some of the things in the video, but overall this was a great and well put together analysis overall. In my personal opinion DK isn't a Low tier. I just hope more people are willing to explore the character fully like I have
I should note that a tier placement isn’t how good a character is, but how well they’ve performed In a tourney environment. If you win some big name tourneys yourself with DK, you could very well move him up the tier list yourself.

As a big fan of Donkey Kong and his series, i'm glad Smash Bracket sent me here. getting to hear how Donkey Kong had a rough time in 64 and peaked with Smash 4 was certainly fun to listen to. I'm glad people love playing as the funny ape, because Donkey Kong certainly has made my life more enjoyable with it's cast of characters, music, and insane momentum in rolling gameplay. I'll come back to this channel again, because watching Smash Character Types be discussed is certainly something I'm lacking. I hope more content like this video, will be produced in the future, because watching the Evolution of Smash 64 characters to Smash Ultimate in a detailed description of how they played in every game they starred in, is certainly one i want to see explored for other characters.

DK is not slow. Neither his moves or attributes are slow. He has armor on frame 5 in aerial side b or grounded up b. Aerial spinning kong comes out on frame 4. These are fairly fast options for a heavy. 7 frame bair and 6 frame uair startup are also quite fast for a superheavy, and most of his very disjointed good range tilts are around that startup too. His run speed is top 30 amongst 80ish characters in ultimate and air speed is tied for top 12-16
