    REGARDING TULSI: Hi everybody. I really appreciate all of the kind comments and the positive feedback in the video. I realize I made a mistake in the video and added tulsi into the parsad plate to be offered to Shiva. My apologies if I have confused or offended anyone. Please be advised when preparing for your Shiva or Ganesh puja that Tulsi is not offered to either of them. We are all human and make mistakes sometimes. Thank you for your understanding. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

      Thank you Matthew. I'm sure you were trying so hard to make this video perfect! And it was a minor oversight, so not worry we always have EXTRA STUFF IN OUR TARIE or FOIL PAN THAT WE DO NOT USE! We are so used to setting up our puja place and making sure everything is available "just in case". You are Fine 🙏. Thank you again in reminding all of us how SIMPLE IT IS TO PRAY AND PERFORM PUJA IN IT'S SIMPLEST FORM. JAI BHOLENAUTH🙏🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌿🌿🌿🙏

    Namaskar, Matthew,
    GREETINGS FROM PHILADELPHIA, USA.
    THANKYU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. I BEEN STUDYING AN LEARNING TO PRACTICE SANATAN DHARMA, SRI VIDYA, AND SHAIVA SIDHANTA, FOR THE PAST 11 YR.
    IT REALLY IS THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME IN MY LIFE.
    ALTHOUGH IVE LEARNED SO MUCH, IBEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY FINDING ACCESS TO LEARN KARMAKANDA RITUALS DIRECTLY.
    IM SURE VARIOUS PUJA BOOKS ARE MOST LIKELY DERIVED FROM KARMAKANDA, HOWEVER IM GUESSING THERES A KIND OF" INDEX" OR GLOSSARY OR ENCYCLOPEDIA " TYPE OF LISTINGS OF VARIOUS TYPES OF PUJAS WITH VARIOUS PURPOSES AN TIMINGS. ALTHOUGH IVE YET TO FIND SUCH A " LIST", IVE STILL BEEN ABLE TO LEARN BASIC NITYA PUJAS , THANKFULLY, FROM UPLOADS SIMILAR TO THIS ONE, AND FROM PRACTICE WITH OTHER DEVOTEES AT MANDIR.
    I AM WHITE AMERICAN, HOWEVER I WAS ORPHAN CHILD AT A YOUNG AGE AN ADOPTED INTO A PAKISTANI-AMERICAN MUSLIM FAMILY AND BROUGHT UP IN ISLAM FROM AGR 12, UNTIL DUE TO PERSONAL REASONS....I LEFT ISLAM, AND I AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE MY SPIRITUALITY REPLACED WITH SANATAN DHARMA, SRI VIDYA AND SHAIVA SIDDHANTA'.
    YU STATED THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT THE SHIVARATI. I ASSUME YU MEAN THE BIG ANNUAL ONE, BUT I WAS TOLD THERE ARE ALSO SMALLER SHIV RATRI THAT OCCUR EVERY MUNT, IM NOT SURE IF THATS TRUE, BUT IF SO.....CAN THIS PUJA VE OFFRED FOR MUNTLY SHIVRATRI AS WELL AS THE ANNUAL,
    ....AS WELL AS THE EVERY MONDAY SHIVA PUJA, CAN THIS BE USED FOR ANY OR ALL OF THOSE??
    THANKS AGAIN FOR THIS AWESOME 👌UPLOAD.
    NAMASTE 🙏

      Awesome explanations n presentation. This way how to set up for any Puja has not been something easily known to many of us. Taking the time to present n share such important practice in our Sanatan Dharm will surely help enlighten, n ofcourse, be beneficial for fellow Hindus. Myself, who do not know much n keen on learning. Everything you do here, gives the opportunity to be able to learn these steps inside the comfort of our own homes. A blessing indeed. You have done great. Thank you so very much for your time, presentation on the preparations for Maha Shiva's Puja. May Lord Shiva always bless you, abundantly. Om Namah Shivaya🙏

    Matthew, what a great video. Your descriptions were well done!
    I have a quick question, I just got a new lingam and Shiva murti but my pandit is unavailable to bless them. Can I still use them for my setup or do I have to do a ritual first?

    • @matthewsguyanesecooking4601
      @matthewsguyanesecooking4601  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching. So this is a small ritual that we do. Everybody does this differently though just letting you know. You can do this as per your own preferences.
      You bathe the murti with water. There is a mantra, but I am not 100% sure of it. You can say it in English by letting him know he is in his new home, (say the address and name of you/family, or just your name). And just verbally welcome him into your home and altar.
      Wash him water and dry him with off. When placing him in the alter or give him a seat you say "awahaiami stapaiami Jai Shiva Shankar" or whichever god/goddess you're installing in your altar.
      If you have clothing or a cloth then dress him. If you have a mala, put it on. Offer chandhan, perfume, sing/play a bhajan, say any prayers of your desire and offer parsad, fruits, flowers, etc.
      Same goes for the Lingam.
      Remember there are always prayers you can say of rituals you can do. However, you do what it is that you desire, what you can, and what is in your heart.
      Hope this helps. Blessings to you.

    Hi I need some advice, I have recently got into Hinduism. I have a God Ganesh statue and altar. But wasn't sure which way to go Lord Shiva or Lord Krishna. As I respect all. I'm a spiritual medium and recently Lord Shiva keeps popping through to listen and be there for me when I'm really struggling. I remembered three past lives from the age of 4 and 6 years old. The three past lives were extremely hard to get my head around for years. Would you say Lord Shiva has stepped forward to guide me further? As I'm totally confused. Blessings sent your way and thank you for reading my comment. 🙏🙏 xx

      Hi there. Thank you for watching. I have all of them in my altar and different ones in the Hindu pantheon. If you are interested in finding out who your main God is or your guide then reach out to your Pandit or Priest and ask them to guide you and let you know. If you ever have any questions, please let me know but I am also not a Priest so I don't have a lot of the answers.

    Why will God when food that don't sound right. Hindu deities are for guidance to spirituality. Hinduism is a culture not a religion. Lord shiva probably will be happy with people if they help those who are less fortunate on his day. Check out SADHGURU TALK it will expand your knowledge of our culture

      Everyone has their own belief and preparation in worshiping the Gods, clean heart and sincere Bhava, Gods will accept. I prepare everything like Matthew. I understand what you mean though. 🙏

    Maybe your commendable efforts here of spiritual advancement (Bhakti) will inspire your family members whom you have cooked beef for in the past to stop eating it. Lord Shiva rides on Nandi, a bull, and Sri Krishna is called Govinda, the protector of cows. Thus, it would be in their best interest spiritually to do so. 🙏🏼

    I thought your not supposed to use coconut water for shiva , use it for Lakshmi . Same with Turmeric I thought your not supposed to use it as a offering to Shiva .

      Coconut water is always an offering we use for Shiva Lingam puja. And for Shiva I was told not to use sindoor

      Of course. This is an idea only and what my family usually does. This is for a special occasion, you do not need these items on a regular basis to pray. You can pray without anything or even just a flower.

    Happy Shivratri to everyone! Does anyone knows why we sit on a table to eat? And sit on the floor to make offerings?

    • @matthewsguyanesecooking4601
      @matthewsguyanesecooking4601  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Traditionally our East Indian ancestors sat on the floor to eat. Modern times everyone sits at a table. However, when you do puja you are supposed to sit on the floor and have God raised (thats why you put the murtis on a chowki/surface or bedi that's slightly elevated from the floor). This shows that God is higher than you. And usually when people have jhandi or puja everyone would sit and eat on the floor.
