1. Thanks for going into this fascinating operation of the mining operations. 2. When the PENTREX folks visited in July 1992, the spur to the mining sand pit was just being constructed. For that time being the sand was loading into trucks then trucked to the mainline siding for loading into the waiting hopper cars. 3. The GB&W was probably one of two railroads to utilize cabooses for mainline service next to Burlington Northern. The BN used theirs for COAL & GRAIN moves depending on their length & weight.
Great to see those Alcos working. Watched them in the 90's when I lived in East Central Wisconsin. Also the Fox River Valley RR.
