In August 1974 Upnor Castle came off the road at the trap points at the Penrhyn end of Minfford Station. It was on the first up train of the day and I was a buffet car steward on the second up train. We managed to squeeze past the derailed engine and I photographed it on the way back. I also remember Upnor Castle was prone to overheat and boil the radiator if the load was too much for it. We came to a halt once by Plas Halt and the buffet car had to supply warm water so as to not crack the block had cold water been used.

Absolutely love Vale of Ffestiniog, its a beautiful loco. 👍
It looks like a class 20 but with two cabs
@@TheSudrianTerrier653 like a mini class 58 👍
I went to the Ffestiniog once, Last year, I saw Boston Lodge from a distance, I wish I got a closer look at it.
Nice updates
So Vale of Ffestiniog has the same engine as a Sprinter then?
NTA855 isn't that a regular sprinter power pack? \m/
