Man, I love this channel. I have a small fabrication business and something as basic as the position of the disc to the operator, such as when cutting, is often overlooked. Thanks ASC and Gumaro!!
Thank you, Gumaro! I just got my first professional grinder and needed some info on disc types and this tutorial has been nothing but and immense wealth of information that i truly needed to use the device correctly. Very much appreciate your time in making the video!!!’
Thanks Gumaro. Rookie user here from 🇦🇺 feeling much more educated to take on a DIY project (cutting down the tubes on an old trampoline with a cutting disc)
Great video! This is a must watch for anyone using an angle grinder. He is only selling safe and correct use of a powerful tool. He also answered the size question for me. If they use a 4 1/2” for their tasks then a 4 1/2 is fine for me.
The cutting grinder disc, I have seen on the flat ring a stamped year and month (Expiration Date), is that mean we can not used a disc with expired year?
But if the sparks shoot away from you this means if the disk binds it will send the angle grinder right back to you. Instead of pulling out of your hands which should be more safe. Or not?
Hi Pavan. We asked an expert fabricator on our team. He stated this isn't his area of expertise, but recommended investigating the use of a thin profile stainless or hard plastic wire wheel, or a composite cutting wheel. A steel wire wheel will most likely impregnate the concrete with iron and cause rust stains. He would not recommend using a concrete/diamond blade because that will cut away and alter the shape of the joint. Hope that helps.
Hi. The general rule for grinders is the rated speed of the accessory (e.g., the disk) must be at least equal to the maximum speed of the tool. So, in general, it would be safe to use a grinding disc with an RPM rating equal to the maximum speed of your grinder. However, you should always review and follow the manufacturer's user manual for the specific requirements and safety instructions for your tool.
Hi Jojo. We can't say what applies to your specific circumstance, but here are some things to consider: You should only use a disc that is rated for your grinder. This is because of the guard, the RPM rating, and the disc arbor size. You need a guard that will properly sheath the disc; the disc needs to be rated to the RPM of your grinder (otherwise it could shatter); and the disc needs to have an arbor hole sized for the grinder spindle. If the arbor hole is not sized correctly, your grinder will vibrate and become hard to control. Additionally, using a disc larger than the grinder is rated for could stress the grinder's motor and cause it to overheat. Hope that's helpful.
I see in the video the angle grinder is 11000rpm and that cutting disc you using on the same grinder i think is 10200rpm. Is that difference not dangerous?
Hi Dash. You're right. Using a disc rated for fewer RPMs than the grinder spins is not correct. The disc could weaken or break as a result. At 3:19 we show a cutting disc rated at 10,200 RPM. This disc is part of our training materials for the grinder class. We do not use it in our 11,000 RPM grinders. However, we understand the way it is shown in the video could create confusion. Thanks for pointing it out so we could clarify.
2:31 Are you sure that the sparks should go away from you? I remember I saw few videos and people were saying that the sparks should go towards you. When sparks go out of you if it bites then the angle grinder will be moving towards you. If sparks go towards you then if it bites angle grinder will be moving of you as result less likely injury. I know sparks hot and burn but you have one life. Found one. Recently was watching th-cam.com/video/EEUT8B9JwaU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NHukThzXJqxB_SjG&t=2028
Thanks Gumaro. Your level of explanation is top notch, without any blah blah!

These videos should be an inspiration to every manufacturer in how safety videos should be made for their factories.

What disc should we use to remove polyurethane sealant from concrete contraction joints?

You guys are awesome!
Sir I have doubt what if the RPM of grinding disc is equal to the grinding machine will the disc break or is it safe to do so pls reply
